@Crab... see if you can find out what she's interested in. Then ask her about it. No flirting need be involved to just break the ice. :)

Bio

Long time casual role player who loves tales of adventure! I enjoy tabletop games, play-by-post, and even LARP!

Wild (and sometimes weird) west and medieval fantasy games with an 'old-school' D&D feel are my favorite.

In real life, I'm a software engineer and wanna-be farmer. I have a little garden and some chickens that like to destroy my flower beds. But I like 'em anyway and they all have names. ;) Sometimes they lay me some breakfast.

Other hobbies include dog agility and archery.

Actually I had planned to play a female character. I've never played a male before and dunno how great I'd be at it. Was there a specific reason the travelling companion was Male? or could they (I) be female in that case?

That's not a problem. In the In-Character, the character was said to be male, but I'll see if I can go back and edit that post quick...

and done! :)
"Okay, Roan" Glenn said and rolled over onto his side, using his arm as a pillow. He was quiet for a bit, trying to fall asleep, which should have been an easy task after a day of walking, but thoughts of adventures and undiscovered treasure made sleep elusive. After a while he rolled onto his back and looked up at the star covered sky and the bright moon. Ms Dotta always told him to count something when he was having trouble falling asleep and there were plenty of stars up there to count. Very quietly, he started muttering to himself. "1...2...3...4..." He continued up to 65 before his count was replaced by deep breathing.

Sure, I think I can make that work. Was the woman planning on joining the quest? I just need to know so I can plan to be an escort or plan to find some way to leave her or something to that effect. If not I can always step in somewhere during the next battle or anything else. I'm pretty patient. Also what's the combat system like here. What it seems is that someone takes a swing at someone and the GM decides if it hits. Is that right or am I imagining things?

If she lives, I was thinking she'd join. Of course, her survival is looking pretty iffy at the moment. ;)

I try to do my best to allow the player controlling the target of the attack decide if the hit lands or not. This tends to work well most of the time. So if it's against your character, you get to decide the degree of success or failure of the attack.
Glenn downed the second helping of dinner almost as quickly as he had the first and pondered Roan's question about stories.

"Old man Calhoun always had good stories," he said. "He used to tell this one about getting lost in a forest... no that one was about elves or gnomes or something... getting lost in a mountain pass. And there were bandits...."

Glenn continued a tale that seemed to be about Calhoun getting caught by a group of bandits and talking his way out of it, somehow making them allies in the process. But the tale was anything but well told, as he got the details confused with other stories and often had to backtrack to correct himself once he realized he had made a mistake.

"Think we'll have any adventures like that, Roan?" Glenn asked as he got comfortable for the night. Though if his story telling skills were any indication, they'd be in serious trouble if Glenn had to talk his way out of a bad situation.

I've been watching this for a while. I had planned to mosey on in when its convenient, I've just been waiting for a good time.

Cool! If we're down to just the three of us, how do you guys think we should move forward? Driananium, any chance you'd want the woman's traveling companion? It'd be easy to say he was just unconscious.

(I don't want to box you into a character you don't want though. So if you've got something else in mind, that's okay too. :) )

Haelerin's thin lips spread into a slow smile as the prisoners spoke of forming a plan to escape and Zed's plan to find their weakness. It was always the same, of course, with fresh merchandise that had yet to be broken. All confident that they would be able to find a way to escape and all slowly losing that hope along their journey to the drow city. Spit and fire replaced, little by little, with each becoming resigned to their fate.

Althea felt somewhat cheered at Zed's confidence. "Then perhaps Orin will allow us to aid him in his pursuit of Straw."

Eyes adjusted somewhat to the dim light and now free from the ropes, the archer stood up and ran her fingers over the stone and mortar that made up the walls of their prison. She looked up at the daylight filtering in from the crack in the ceiling, wondering if it was a weak spot in the ceiling. "Think we could reach that?" she asked, pointing up.
Anything I can do to make this RP more fun for you guys?

No rush! :) It's looking like I might not have a lot of RP time this weekend, so might not make it back here much until Monday anyway.
