Current So, as an American, what do I do when I need to choose between illegal immigration to Canada and dying in a civil war?

Up until today I've never had any trouble with my EUIV Japan games. Today I got stomped five times in a row before even uniting the country.

I'm a weeaboo communist. Are you surprised?

EDIT: You probably are now, but I'm not going to tell you why you wouldn't have been like two years ago. You get to agonize over that yourself.

Provided you can kill them off. The LCF ground forces are completely worthless, but the space forces are incredibly powerful due to the antiproton weapons. Once they build more ships, they will be able to defend extremely effectively.

Then despite the ten percent progress, it'll still be slow.Any colony new or old must've at least some technology one can retrieve. It'll be surprising if there were none.

There's plenty of tech lying around. Like gunpowder weaponry, late 90's computer tech, chemical rocket engines, and flip phones.

The only reason they got into space so quickly was because they were united already, and there was a bunch of stuff left over in space. The Warp Drive was built early because the current era for the LCF is pretty much the late 90's. Which is actually when the Warp Drive was first theorized by Miguel Alcubierre. A negative energy factory happened to be left over, they reverse engineered it, and bam! Warp Drive.

In short, the LCF is extremely primitive by galactic standards. Without those antiproton streamers the LCF would have been conquered already. Again, if you want antiproton streamers, capture one of my ships. They don't have self destructs.
There aren't even antiproton weapons on the ground! They're purely space-based! No LCF spacecraft have been disabled with their weapons intact and completely abandoned by the rest of the fleet, even if they were, there isn't enough time to haul the entire ship down to the newly formed colony that is based on a planet that only had a few underdeveloped communities in the first place, and then do what it took the Equestrians multiple pages to do all in the time of a few vessels entering a higher orbit.

Usage on the ground is impossible due to the fact that they need to carry a particle accelerator and electrical generator with them. Not even unicorn blood or green rocks will make the things work like that! Even if we operate on soft sci-fi, Rule Of Cool-powered Anime physics, it wouldn't work.

The Terminator continued the discussion.
"All celestial bodies have a use for us, the moon of our homeworld is being converted into a fuel factory, and we will do the same with your planets. The sacrifices of your fleet were in vain, do you truly believe that our ships have no bombardment capabilities? Besides the antiproton streamers, we have a weapon far more powerful than any you have ever dreamed of. Surrender this planet to us, pledge to never attack us or the Equestrians, and we will not need to use that weapon. If you do not comply, then your species will lose your homeworld for good."

The fleet rose into a higher orbit, turning for a broadside bombardment of the planet. The antiproton streamers of the ships began to glow orange, with a buildup of antiprotons preparing to be fired. A flurry of radio transmissions flew between the ships.
"LIV Oblivion, in bombardment position."
"LIV L'Neani, in bombardment position."
"LIV Freidsmekalre, in bombardment position."
"LIV Terra, in bombardment position."
"LIV Shuroh, in bombardment position."
"LIV Kelsof, in bombardment position."
"Terminator to all vessels, charge for maximum antiproton output. Prepare to initiate General Order 24."

Negative Mass/Energy Factory
The conversion of the moon has been completed! With this great achievement comes great power, the ability to fuel a fleet of one hundred starships with their negative energy jump fuel.

Lakfakalle
The other diplomats would have normally rushed to Emily's and Fergus' sides, but they instead felt completely calm over the event. They could somehow feel that it was perfectly safe. However, they were completely stunned by the generosity and trust the Equestrians had shown to them. The Loroi diplomat was the first so speak, something none of the other diplomats would have ever expected, what with the Loroi being there purely because the Equestrians saw the Loroi and Humans as separate species.

"We find your trust in us surprising, as we began our interstellar existence so recently. You have judged us worthy of this great power, you must see greatness in us. We cannot see that greatness, but today I promise you this, the people of Lakfakalle will find that greatness. We will never conquer for the sake of conquering, we will never kill for the sake of killing. We will use this power to bring peace to the universe, and only use it to kill if there is no other option. You will not regret this decision."

Meanwhile, all across the LCF, every citizen felt an inexplicable calm and a rush of power as the wave of magic swept across the universe. The Delphans and Loroi seemed to pick up it's use quickly, as how spells were cast was similar to their already existing psychic powers. They began reporting their new powers to the authorities, and began experimenting with it. However, the other species did not fully understand their newfound powers, and instead decided to wait for instructions regarding the magic.

Somewhere else
Fairlan, who know thought of himself as both Fergus and Fairlan, looked around him. He smiled at the sight, he had always wished it were possible for him to exit a spacecraft without any protection. This strange experience was almost exactly the same. He and Emily moved to sit down at the table, feeling an inexplicable calm. For some reason, they felt as if a similar experience had happened before, but not just once. No, they felt like it had happened They both spoke at the same time.

"The dreams were real!" They said in tandem as their memories came back to them, the first interstellar voyage, the first Krasnikov tube journey back to Earth. The warp drive, the Common Sense War, the expansion era. The dreams they had in that life. The robotic body, the previous glory of all the species of Lakfakalle, the Allied Interstellar Federation-AIF! They had been Admirals in the 'Aif Empire'!

"Why us?" Asked Fergus "Why did you chose to reincarnate us specifically?"

"Yeah, why us?" Asked Emily with Fergus "We're just two people who lived in the right time and in the right place to help a few people, couldn't anyone have done that?"
It's fine, we can do the same to them by crashing a bunch of transports carrying oxygen into one of their planets, or even dropping a swarm of nanobots to convert all matter into oxygen. War between species with drastically different biology ends up being a terraforming war.

Also, the LCF is really naive.

The Terminator sent another message to the enemy fleet, her captain bent on shaming them for what they had done to the planet.
"We are not technologically nor historically advanced, our computers are worthless compared to yours, our ground troops might as well be stone throwers, our navy is mostly infantry, and the weapons you see here are salvaged from an ancient empire. This is our first battle, the first time our ships have fired these weapons from our ships, and look at the damage we have done! Despite our crippling inferiority, we will crush you! Your planets will be captured, your fleets melted down for our war machine, and your homeworld will meet the same fate as ancient Terra!"

The LCF fleet continued to blanket the enemy in antiprotons, their ships fearlessly defending the system despite having nothing left to defend. It was war now, and they were determined to win it no matter the cost. The Challenger had finished evacuating as many citizens as it could, a mere 500, and launched from the planet using its Warp Drive as an antigravity device. It jumped away to Lakfakalle, promising the other ships that it would be back.
You think that's complicated? Just wait until the Delphans reveal themselves as the insanely powerful psychics of doom they really are!
Then the evil alternate Fergus invades!
AND THEN THE SICKENINGLY IDEALISTIC FERGUS INVADES!
MWAHAHAHA! THE GLORIOUS INSANITY!

Dislcaimer: Keyguy was not engaging in the consumption of illegal substances during the writing of this post. This is his mind at 1 AM while listening to fantasy-themed folk music. At that time, he is 300% more likely to talk about his genocidal fantasies, overly cruel torture methods, how awesome and/or terrible he is, and Banner of the Stars.

I wish I could keep up my evil/insane laughing. That's fun.
You know, I never properly announced my return. I shall now do so in traditional fashion.
Contact, Bridge of the LIV Terminator
"Captain, the colony is under attack! We have lost settlements five through sixteen, the shields of settlement one are holding!" Called out the tactical officer in disbelief.
"They were actually planning to attack?" Said Kuuyi Oras "Damn! Order the Challenger to evacuate the citizens, have them provide cover fire using their coilguns! Order the other ships to open fire on the alien fleet."
"Yes Ma'am, orders sent!"
"Broadcast a message to the alien fleet, begin recording!"
"Done Captain!"
"This is Captain Kuuyi Oras of the Lakfakalle Interstellar Vessel Terminator. You have made a grave mistake, we have only had a minor scuffle in our entire spacefaring history, it was a massacre. A pirate ship was completely obliterated by our weapons, you must think us primitive, with our gravity rings and gunpowder, but we have far more powerful devices. You have attacked civilians, if they were military personnel then we might have had a chance at peace, but they were innocent civilians! We are now at war, know how great an ally you could have won today, and know that they are now your eternal enemy!"

The LCF fleet opened fire, streams of antiprotons eating into the alien ships as a hail of coilgun rounds struck their shields repeatedly. The Kelsof, the refurbished ancient battlecruiser, took point. It fired off fusion missiles and all ten of its antiproton streamers, creating a storm of antiprotons heading towards the aliens. The fleet was splitting its fire, trying to cover as much of the alien fleet as possible using the tactic of just spraying antiproton streamer fire in the alien's general direction. The reactors on all ships went into overdrive, compensating for the sudden drain on power. Nobody said anything, but they were horrified at the destructive energies being used, 500 megatons compared to the 50 of the fusion missiles. It was obvious that the crew's naivety had been ripped from them, showing them that the only thing they had going for them was the antiproton streamer.
At least the streamer was a damned powerful weapon.

A message was sent to known Sazkarjhit space from the LIV Terminator.
"This is Captain Kuuyi Oras of the Lakfakalle Interstellar Vessel Terminator the Lakfanikolien colony at Nikolien is under attack! We are requesting immediate assistance, they do not know the location of Lakfakalle and will not be able to find it using out coordinates system, but they will likely come across it while searching for us! We are requesting assistance in our war against them, please send help!"

Radio Message, just now reaching Kashyyyk
While the Goddess and the Triarians were having their petty argument regarding whether or not the Goddess cared about mortals, a radio message was screaming through space at the speed of light. After fifty thousand years of travel, the desperate cry for help had finally reached the planet of Kashyyyk. The Goddess, capable of 'hearing' radio transmissions, picked up the ancient plea.

"This is Admiral Fergus McClain of the Allied Interstellar Federation to any allied vessel! We have lost FTL communications and sensors and are under attack by a Reaper fleet! If anybody is hearing this, please respond! In the name of Faust, save us! Have we been forsaken? Abandoned? Have our wars angered her? What did we do to deserve this? Somebody help us! They're latching on, the nanobots are feeding!"
The familiar voice became quieter as it moved into the background, taking on a much more urgent tone.
"Uplink pods, now! Preserve and transmit as many memories as possible! We cannot allow-"
The message faded into chaos, screams of terror and pain taking over the transmission. Finally, it cut off. The crew had lived their last moments believing their Goddess had either abandoned them or sent punishment, believing they had done something so terrible the entire universe was to be punished. They never once considered that she may have just been gone, or that someone else had committed the assumed evil. They were too overtaken by the chaos to think it could have been anyone's fault but their own.

You make the most obvious allusions to a hostile action that it is clear you have no hostile intentions. Equestrian Request
"We understand, the Starfire currently holds members of all species. We have asked the Delphans to gather data on whether or not the other species will accept those present on the Starfire as representatives... Humans agree, Abh agree, Dolphins agree, Loroi agree, Boskops agree, Ethra'Hirel agree... the Delphans are debating. Fairlan is not connected to their hive mind due to his relationship with Emily... they agree with a 67.213% majority. The Starfire has been dispatched."
