Current So, as an American, what do I do when I need to choose between illegal immigration to Canada and dying in a civil war?

Up until today I've never had any trouble with my EUIV Japan games. Today I got stomped five times in a row before even uniting the country.

Bio

I'm a weeaboo communist. Are you surprised?

EDIT: You probably are now, but I'm not going to tell you why you wouldn't have been like two years ago. You get to agonize over that yourself.

Sorry, I think I like the third the best.

"Oxygen? Are you aware that it can be extracted from water by electrolysis? We've been using that method for centuries, without it we would still be trapped inside the atmosphere of our homeworld. Anyways, we would be happy to give you this technology along with some already stored oxygen. As for the silicon, we would gladly trade it for samples of these other materials. The trade caravans should not be a problem with our FTL methods. Normally we send starships fitted with their own drives, but unknown to many is our internal trade network. Using the same technology used by the warp drive, we can create... corridors that we call 'Krasnikov Tubes'. Most internal ones were made in the pre-warp era by relativistic spacecraft, but now we can make them while at FTL speeds. Using these, we can have ships travel between star systems without the need of onboard FTL propulsion. They also prevent piracy, as ships inside the tube move at the exact same speed. No enemy could catch up, and they wouldn't dare take the tube the entire way to the target system. Any ship using these tubes would need to accelerate to relativistic speeds first, but that can easily be accomplished with antimatter drives, which are used in all of our internal tradeships. As for the military alliance, please allow me a moment to converse with others."
Fergus suddenly seems extremely far away, just staring off into space. Inside his head a conversation was taking place, with hundreds of voices. Some shouted "No! They are below even us!" others simply responded with indifference, but most said yes. After about a minute or so, Fergus stops gazing off and returns to reality.
"The Council and other leaders have agreed to an alliance! Attacks on your troops will not be a problem, as long as they are fitted with our sensory nanoprobes. They have been in use since the tail end of the Common Sense War. We used them to make sure that nobody within our ranks was causing harm to other troops, mainly because everybody hated everybody else. If any attacks happen, we would know exactly what kind of attack, who initiated it, and where. Security would be dispatched and the attacker given the punishment associated with his actions. Also, during the neural link the subject of medical technology was brought up. We agreed that if you wanted, we would give you our medical technology. Of course, we have no idea what kind of capabilities you have in the medical field, or even what your beliefs say on the matter."
Whoops, forgot. The Changeling Empire is accepted.
Sarkazjhit Diplomacy, Martian Orbit
Fergus' smile grows even larger, and he is suddenly extremely happy that the extra time was spent on making his robotic body actually able to smile.
"I cannot even convey how happy this makes me feel, we can finally put our history behind us and move on! If there's anything you want to know about us, just ask, and I'll answer the best I can!"

Outskirts of the Milky Way, Inside Secondary EA Wormgate Security Radius
Fleets of starships came and went through the intergalactic wormgate, bringing ground soldiers back to the outer colonies from the dozens of galaxies that had been invaded while transport fleets delivered supplies to those same planets for the ongoing expansion effort. Of course, the most obvious thing would be the 500,000 strong guard fleet for the incredibly important structure. At this moment, that entire fleet has been mobilized to deal with an extra-galactic threat everyone immediately assumes to be Draconian, despite the common belief being that they are extinct. The reason for this being that every other species in the local group is either a confirmed ally or completely, 100% extinct.

The massive fleet rushed at the alien one, with shields up and weapons charged. As per standard procedure, a message is sent to the alien fleet by the admiral. Specifically Yuuki Sora, who requested the closest thing to a combat assignment possible. Of course, a translation matrix is sent along with the standard SETI signal.
"This is Admiral Yuuki Sora of the Earth Alliance, currently in command of the EAS Vengeance. Identify yourselves intermediately! Any association with the Draconian species will result in your destruction, along with the conquering of your planets. This fleet is fully prepared for war, and you have just entered highly sensitive territory. Any attacks on us or our allies will be met with retaliation."
Just pointing out that I'm making contact with the Orcs at the edge of the galaxy, in case anyone was wondering about that.
Just to put it out there, all but the strongest willed humans are easily affected by the whole mind control thing, along with specially altered cyborgs with artificial eyes.
Sazkarjhit Diplomacy, Mars Orbit
Fergus smiles, and waves off the soldiers that were suspiciously eyeing the Sazkarjhit ones, he lets out a quit sigh of relief as they leave. Probably due to half of them having their fingers twitching on the trigger (the other half just had their fingers on the trigger without the twitching). They leave out the door, but stay close by.
"The pleasure is all mine, Ambassador." Replies Fergus, who is standing in front of the window looking out on the Martian surface. "You know, earlier it occurred to me that all you know of my people comes from the war and occupation. Now, after I realized this I began trying to imagine what you must think of us. Logic says that you must see us as a warrior species. We were far too harsh, we let our anger blind our actions. For what it's worth, I apologize for that. You are here today because we wish to make amends. I know there are many prejudices on all sides, but the fact that I am speaking to you in good faith right now shows that we can come to tolerate, even trust each other. Don't you agree?"

EA Military Camp, "Draconian Front 2"
The last remnants of my glorious people, reduced to this
So thought a single Draconian on what is the last planet with any Draconian population on it. The Earth Alliance had buried it deep within millions of different languages, computer codes, and cyphers, along with a maze of file directories. Along with all that, they also put it in a closed system, making all the security features useless unless someone had some kind of insane magical thing to get into it, which is what they're legitimately afraid of. The population was being preserved so the Draconian species would not go extinct, but that is the extent of the human kindness. All of them are more or less slaves, working for the Earth Alliance expansion directive. Expansion in this case meaning the colonization of Draconian planets not horrifically destroyed while captured enemies watched. The inhabitants worked to crack Draconian codes, while the humans appeared as their oppressive overlords. Sometimes inhabitants disappeared and came back with scars, not remembering anything. The truth is, the human staff are attempting to get enough genetic material to bring the species back, but they still despise the ones currently alive. Of course, if the Triarians heard of this it would mean war, thus the rush to take Draconian planets with their infrastructure and computer systems still intact.
Martian Orbit, Sazkarjhit Contact
The debris field of Earth could be seen even from the orbit of the red planet, the chunks of dirt and rock stretching out to form a chaotic could that would one day become another world. Perhaps that new world might evolve intelligent life over billions of years, to one day be contacted by humanity if it survives. Maybe it will be peaceful, or maybe they will be wiped out by war parties seeking to reclaim their world. Whatever the case, that has not happened yet, and an entirely different uncertainty is currently at hand. Namely, how will Fergus speak to a species he knows only by reports of atrocities from troops under his command?

He was desperately trying to suppress his emotions for the greater good, but he had always had trouble with that. He knew it was required, but it has an extremely hard thing to do. He tried everything he knew of, Buddhist meditation, yoga, Hachist methods, he even reached out to a Goddess without a people and another worshiped by a close ally of the Alliance. Only the first and last did he actually expect to possibly work, mainly due to Buddhist meditation having multiple accounts of relieving stress and him actually having contact with the final deity. Of course, the second to last he had also contacted, but she was also the Goddess of war in Draconian beliefs. So that's a problem.

After many hours of these activities, Fergus decided to try an Abh meditation method. While common among Abh, it is almost never used by neither humans nor dolphins. instead of having you focusing on one thing or clearing the mind, it consists of an intense study of what is bothering you. The study is supposed to reveal why it is bothering you, and thus how you can make it not bother you. While that is the general idea, some say that the understanding is all you need, in the same way that a psychological study of your nightmare makes it seem less frightful, or maybe even humorous in hindsight. This method worked incredibly well with Fergus, while he was never good with making himself do something, he always was good at thinking of why someone else would make themselves do something. You'd never catch him admitting that, though.

Once the thirty-minute meditation session was over, he suddenly felt perfectly fine with the past mistakes of the Sazkarjhit. He had come to the conclusion that they were done not because the Grand Vessel at the time was evil, but because he truly thought he was doing the right thing. In fact, he probably believed he was helping the "heathens", in the same way that the ridiculously conservative "Traditional Christian Hierarchy" during the Common Sense War thought it was saving souls by forcibly altering the memories of conquered populations so they would believe the exact same thing they did. While the possible outcome of the crusade against the Hach would have been terrible, everyone involved thought they were actually helping, and Fergus simply cannot dislike someone who think's they're helping.

Fully prepared for the meeting, Fergus walks to the command center of the orbital station where the EAS McClain is being refitted, and orders a channel to be opened to the Sazkarjhit ships that have just arrived.
"This is Admiral Fergus McClain of the Earth Alliance, it is an honor to once again meet with your people. It is my hope that we can begin to understand each other's cultures better and avoid any future conflicts. If you dock with this station, we can meet face to face in a diplomatic conference room adapted for your species."
Sazkarjhit Contact
The warship retracts its weaponry, and power is cut off from the weapons systems.
"Our space has expanded a lot since the occupation, as has the tolerance of your people it seems. We are pleased with this development, perhaps we can finally put the past of our peoples away and cooperate. A message has been sent to Mars alerting them of this contact, if you wish for a formal meeting then you should head there. In case you do not know it's location, we are transmitting coordinates to you now."
