Well, the choices are slave, free, or master. If you're an ex-slave, your status as such is irrelevant because you're free again. But, yeah, you could use ex-slave in place of free, I suppose.

Odds are it won't. Remember when RvB went for almost straight action with the Freelancers? My least favorite season. The same thing would probably apply to RWBY and romance. The formula it's using in V1 is worth ten times its weight in diamonds and Dust.

I wouldn't say it'll be similar to RvB. It's faaaaar too influenced by anime, so we'll definitely see romance. But I don't think it'll take over the plot.

I don't, but I do think the fanart I find of ships is cute. I only see friendship between the characters at the moment save for maybe Blake and Sun because of his wink. Other than that, I agree. I don't think it'll get romance fueled, though. There is waaay too much going on for romance to become too big of a focus.
