Religion is important motivation in peoples' lives. It's an important aspect of culture. It would kinda blow to have a restriction on it when it comes to characters.

Though, personally, I don't really have any characters highly influenced by religion one way or another unless they're in a fantasy setting. It, like, never comes up for my characters in RPs. And I rarely see it in other peoples' characters, so I can't really give any experimental input.
I personally don't have any fan characters (FCs). I only have OCs. However, not all my OCs can fit in every RP, so yes, I do change my characters as needed to fit a RP. So, you could do the same with your FCs. Like if you have a Pokemon trainer, you could take away his Pokemon and put him in a modern day setting. Ask yourself, "What would he be like in a different universe?"

As for animals, I rarely see role plays about animals, but they do exist. So you could probably find / make something for animal RP. Although rare, when I do see animal RP it's usually wolves or horses. Sometimes lions.
Heehee, I'm a lady. And thanks :D

Anyways, here it is. Again, if anyone thinks something needs to be changed content-wise, let me know. Then once we finalize the what, I can fix the writing as suggested, haha. I'm not the best at writing out plots.

(And now I really need to sleep. I'm usually in bed an hour ago, haha. I'll be on tomorrow, though.}
Okay, I'm back. Had a family thing to attend that I thought was tomorrow, haha.

Using the ideas presented, I'll throw together a basic plot line, then we can figure out what we'd like to change, add, and/or remove. If anyone still has questions or would like some more clarification, let me know.
OH an emergency came up--I won't be on for a few hours (nothing bad, don't worry)

What type of act qualifies as bad enough to be reincarnated? Would it be based off of breaking laws like murder and crime? Or Biblical sinning; Adultrey, lies, gluttony, greed, pride, wrath, et cetera?

It would be anything that puts another human or humans in serious harm. For example, someone like Jack the Ripper or Hitler would be reincarnated. Or even maybe someone who murdered their spouse. A serial rapist. Really, anything that you find cringe worthy. Motivation can be accounted for, too. Maybe whatever the person did wasn't terribly evil, but if the intentions were particularly sadistic, they might be reincarnated.

Through reincarnation to they keep their same personality? Maybe even their same appearance? Though I think it would be cool to show a stream of how your appearance changed between the different lifetimes? Even the possibility of changing genders through the reincarnation. As your soul would be attached to the new body but the chromosomes through the process of pregnancy might change, though has a strong biased towards the original gender of the host? And the only thing that remains the same is the personality of the person?

Their appearance and even gender changes. The body they get is decided by genetics of their birth parents in terms of appearance and such even though they remain surprisingly healthy. So, if your character was a big, muscular, bear like guy in his first life, there's a chance he'll be a dainty little girl in his next life. I am playing with and drawn to the idea that if the person died a violent death, killing blows might appear as birthmarks, haha. On top of this, sexuality is often linked to your first life, leading many paladins/shades being homo- or bi- sexual or anything, really.

Personality is a little harder to explain: since personality is slightly affected by genetics and very much affected by upbringing (I think, haha), any influence of their previous life can be hindered by this. Plus, how well a paladin or shade really remembers and is aware of their past life is different between individuals. Paladins, for example, tend to remember their lives through dreams if at all. Shades tend to be most affected by their past lives, and many are fully aware of their previous memories. But again, they vary as much as humans do, so you have a lot of creative freedom in terms of personality.

I probably didn't explain that very well....

Having returned as a reincarnation you have been given the opportunity to right the wrongs of your past life. Though the degree of the sin/crime determines the atonement one must do to break free of your worldly chains. The greater of sinners/criminals have only one option. Join a secret task force of paladins that aid the world through the shadows. Mostly against the Shades, capturing them and bringing them to a secure facility for detainment; knowing killing the shades would only offer them a chance of reincarnation. CAN EXPAND IF YOU LIKE THE IDEA

That is actually a really awesome idea. :D That would make sense, not killing shades. Otherwise, they'll just be reborn and continue their evil. So we could totally use that as a plot point.

I would like to expand on your Idea, El_Tigre. Lets say the RP takes place in a city (I will refer to this city as city X) City X happens to be a sort of hub for paladins, containing a large number of them, while the shades are spread thin. Over time, though, the shades began to group up, eventually forming a sort of reincarnating gang within City X, which is a problem for Paladins. So the bulk of the RP would be the shabbily structured gang of shades against the tight-knit community of paladins within City X. Of course, the goal of the shades is to rid themselves of the paladins, so they can live their eternities of crime and chaos in "Peace"also, it would be cool if we could play as the reincarnated forms of real criminals. (OBVIOUS THING IS OBVIOUS)

Ohhh, I like this a lot! Both these ideas provide plenty of conflict.

And yeah, I'm totally okay with y'all using known criminals as your previous incarnations.

I have the interest. Stupid idea time: it's being discovered that within City X there are several shades under the guise of paladins killing them off, putting the paladins at risk of extinction within City X and forcing them to either kill their comrades hoping that they're shades after interrogation or something OR leave what you describe as a "tight-knit" group and live in solitude to save themselves.Terrible I know, sorry.

It's not terrible. It's not like you can tell the difference between a shade and a paladin at a glance--much less a paladin/shade and a normal human, haha. So that could definitely be a strategy shades use to kill off the paladins.

I'm glad y'all have shown interest. :D These are awesome ideas!! I'll be frequenting the thread and I'll try putting together a coherent plot explanation while we work out the details.
Long is good--especially when you've got two characters to write for! :)
Sorry to see you go, Cynder :c
Oh, have fun.

Is Cynder still around?
These posts are pretty awesome considering we're in the free section, haha. Kudos to everyone
