I don't even know what's going on in the IC even more... I'm debating whether to just have Alika and Elena just barley acknowledge whatever the fuck is happening and go inside or bother reacting to what transpired.

Yeah that's how I felt with my post. I hadn't directed my characters to the main hall yet, so that was me doing that basically. My next post is gonna have to acknowledge the speech and shit--I would've done it in one post, but my characters are already interacting
{{Assume this is just before the ceremony because I didn't want to power play characters... My next reply will cover the reaction to the ceremony and whatever immediately after it.}}

Dagny

Scales—er, Ariadne—handed her bag to Dagny, who tested the weight in her hand for a moment before bringing her hands together, carrying both hers and the other girl’s belongings in one hand. At the comment, she looked down at herself and shrugged in a pseudo-modest gesture. “I’ve got an internal heater, Ariadne,” she explained vaguely, making a point to use the girl’s name. “Guess you could say I’m pretty hot,” she followed up with a wink.

When the girl suddenly and quite literally fell into her arms, Dagny blinked and struggled to keep her upright with one arm for a moment. There was breath on her neck and she suddenly tensed as if about to be bitten with those fangs—not that they would do much—but wasn’t exactly relieved by the whisper on her ear instead. She felt her face heat up and she had to swallow smoke that threatened to escape her throat.

“I-I’m already carrying your bag,” she pointed out after clearing her throat. Nonetheless, she managed to shift her weight, allowing the bags to slip onto her wrist by the loops. Then, she scooped up Ariadne with ease, a hand supporting her back and the other her legs. Although in most circumstances, Dagny would refuse to play pack mule, this was a good chance to show off her strength—something that very few species between both Earth and Lucis could rival.

“Better?” she checked in, grinning cockily as she followed the flow of students to the hall to listen to the speech.

Loreal

“Oh, no, she’s fine. I love animals,” Loreal assured as he defended his cat’s attitude. She clearly wasn’t any ordinary cat, however, and Loreal wondered if she was a daemon or familiar of some sort. The boy then crouched to pick up her luggage and she grinned. “That’s actually what I was going to ask you about,” she admitted though she didn’t seem particularly shameful of it. “I brought too much stuff again, I think…

“As for where we’re going, I just follow the other students. I just know we’re going to the main hall,” she suggested. She walked with the fellow student, her eyes following the flow of students into the hall and directed the two of them in that direction as he carried her things.

Jeremiah was a cute name and she made a mental of that. “I’m Loreal,” she answered, fixing her hair before shoving her fingers into the warmth of her pockets. Once inside the main hall, she thanked him for his help with her bags.
Dagny

Despite her attempt to show off, no one seemed interested in the young woman who could have fallen off her griffon. Nor the hole she left in the ground. She crossed her arms and snorted, smoke escaping her nostrils as she looked around at everyone. What was so fucking fascinating that they—

Oh.

The girl stripping caught her attention for multiple reasons. The first being the most obvious: she was a half-naked girl in the middle of the courtyard. For a moment, annoyance flickered across her face. The stripper totally stole her show. But then she noted the scales that covered parts of the slender build. Being far sighted was suddenly the best thing in the young dragon’s life. She tilted her head as she watched the girl dress, her blue eyes drinking her form up. “What a woman,” she decided to herself, the frown turning into a half smile that allowed her pointed teeth to show.

She watched for a moment as the girl headed for the classroom. Then she quickly scooped up her bags, one over her shoulder and one each hand, and quickly followed the girl. Needless to say, the dragon was all too interested in the lizard-girl. To make her point, she glared at the poor student snake lady decided to wink at as she a walked by, her pupils elongating to mimic a lizard’s for the moment.

“Yo, scales,” she called after the girl as she caught up. “Need help finding the main hall? I’ll carry your bags.” She held out her large hand to follow up on the offer, her blue eyes on the other girl’s pink ones. Other than her pointed teeth, Dagny appeared relatively human—though her scent and bareness despite the cold hinted otherwise.

Loreal

What a slut, Loreal thought, scowling after the girl who disappeared into the building. Then she sighed and rolled her eyes, saying aloud, “Whatever. Who cares? Her problem when she gets frost bite.” The griffon titled its head at her and she opened her mouth to defend her bashing when the announcement came on.

She blinked and looked down at her luggage—it was a lot to carry by herself. She bit her lip and looked around for anyone in her immediate vicinity to help. “Bet if I stripped, I’d get plenty of help,” she grumbled bitterly. Then she paused, looking down at herself under the fur. Then she shook her head and slapped herself with both hands on each side of her cheeks. “Don’t even consider it, Loreal!” she scolded herself, taking her hands away from red cheeks.

She sighed and looked to the griffon again. “You can help me with my luggage, can’t you?” The beast didn’t appear thrilled at the prospect, confirmed by the fact it flapped its wings to join the other griffons in taking to the sky.

“Fine! I don’t need your help, anyway! “ she shouted after the beast. “I have…this guy,” she decided, taking hold of another student’s arm: Jeremiah. Though she spotted the cat on his shoulders after, and quickly pulled away with an “Oh! Sorry!” as she watched the cat.
Dagny is going to have the biggest fucking crush on Ariadne. They're even both lizard people (kinda).
Loreal

Well before the griffon arrived, Loreal was ready to go. She awoke with daybreak as the light shattered through the trees of the forest and her home, though that was typical of most elves. They rose and set with the sun, staying up after sunset only for special occasions such as birthdays or festivities. She packed her bags—clothes, hygienics, some plants to add some life to the dull dorms—and had help from her sisters bringing them to the forest floor. They would grab a bag from the platform in the canopy called a room and then drop branch by branch until their bare feet dropped onto the soft ground. Then they’d easily climb back up the tree, hopping and swinging between branches without a sound—save for their complaining or gossip.

Once the bags—which were made of woven wood and leaf—were safely on the ground, Loreal grabbed the last of her belongings: her bow and arrows. She picked the bow up carefully from its place on the wall and a small smile brushed her lips as she admired the woodwork with the tips of her fingers. She sighed and gave one last look around the canopy and slung her quiver and bow over her shoulder. “I’ll be back next year,” she assured the empty air. And with that, she dropped from her room and onto a branch, letting herself fall to one and then the other until she found the ground.

“Do you have everything you need? Your furs? It’s cold in the Gate during this time of the year.” The low voice belonged to her father, who stood by her luggage with her sisters and their own baby griffon, Saxon.

Loreal nodded in response. “I believe so,” she added with a nervous smile as she played with the fur of her sleeve. Leaving home every year was something she still had not grown used to. She also wasn’t used to the dramatically changing weather at the Academy—especially the cold.

Her father watched her for a moment and then opened his mouth to speak. However, he was interrupted by a large winged beast dropping from the sky just behind him. It cawed in greeting and Loreal’s sisters all squeaked in surprise together, moving closer together. The baby griffon hid between her father’s legs, its eyes wide as it watched the older and much larger beast.

Loreal laughed as the Academy griffon only snorted and loaded up her belongings. Then she hugged her father tightly—she was generally the first to express affection between the two of them. “Goodbye, and I’ll be back soon,” she promised before pulling away to address her sisters. “And thank you for the help. Goodbye!” She hopped onto the griffon, thankful to be escaping the heat in the heavy furs she wore, and held on tight.

When she arrived at the school, the griffon landed easily and Loreal slid off the mount and into the snow. “Brrrrr,” she hissed, shivering as she pulled the fur tighter around her body. Her green eyes flickered around at the other students who had already landed and the ones still landing. There were faces she didn’t recognize—first years, most likely—and some faces that she vaguely knew. Who’s going to be my partner this year? she wondered, fixing her hair.

Dagny Ek

“You cold?” Dagny asked, her blue eyes on the young woman beside her. The woman was petite and slender, making Dagny look even larger in comparison. Much of her skin was bare despite the falling snow, her broad shoulders and thick arms still free of goose bumps.

“C-cold looking at you,” the other girl hissed, pulling her coat on tighter around her dark skin as she shivered. “Where is that bird?”

The dragon girl laughed a bit and spit fire from between her sharp teeth and into the air, providing some heat for the woman. “It’ll be here soon,” she assured, stretching her arms over her head as smoke rose from her mouth and nostrils.

“Here” was a small house in the middle of a tundra. Dagny’s family home was terrible isolated from the rest of Sweden, Earth, and the only sign that there was life outside of the property was the road. The road, incidentally, was covered in snow and ice and therefore blended in with the rest of the landscape. As snow continued to fall, her luggage—only a couple bags—was becoming covered in it. Noticing this, the purple eyed woman brushed the powder off with a gloved hand.

A screech broke the silence and the women looked up as a griffon fell from the sky. “Well, this is me,” Dagny stated casually. “See ya later.” She offered a wave as the griffon gathered up her things. Though the hand she waved with was grabbed and she was pulled back into a hug. The dragon girl felt her face flush red and she hesitantly hugged the other back.

“Write me or something,” the girl ordered as she pulled away to wink at the dragon.

Dagny glanced away, then back, and nodded. “Y-yeah,” she responded as she cleared her throat, coughing up more smoke. “I’ll do that.” And with that, she climbed onto the griffon and waved once more as they took off.

Time flew by and Dagny was more than comfortable in the air. When they were finally in school airspace, the young woman leaped off the griffon, who scolded her with a screech. Nonetheless, she hit the ground with a heavy impact, snow flying up from where she hit. “Woo!” she exclaimed, greeting the school grounds quite noisily as she stood at her full height, throwing her hands in the air. A drop from that height would break human bones at least, but she stood fine. In fact, the ground is what took damage from her drop: she stood in a small crater, lending evidence to her massive true form.

The griffon landed beside her with a caw of disapproval, but Dagny only shrugged in response. “It’s year four—I had to do something to spice it up,” she stated matter-of-factly, her eyes flickering about at the not so fresh and fresh meat alike—mostly looking for a reaction to her fall. She did love to show off.

I guess you could say the IC is off to a...... flying start.

Full Name
Loreal

Gender
Female

Age
16

Year
2nd

Birthday
August 11

Astrological Sign
Leo

Species
Elf: elves of Lucis live in remote place full of plant animal life. Like humans, the sort of environment they live means elves from different regions look different. For example, Loreal's society is from a rain forest and its climate. As a result, she has dark olive skin. All elves have an affinity for Natural magic and animals. Elves age slower than humans, as well, and can live to be as old as two hundred fifty to three hundred years old.

Class
Archer

Weapon
Long bow and two short swords. The bow belonged to her mother and, while she typically has ammunition, it doesn't need arrows to fire. The arrows can be created by magic.

World
Lucis

Short Biography
Loreal is one of the younger sisters of her family. Her particular elven society make themselves at home in the canopy of the trees of the rainforest she lived in. She loves her family and friends, though the "small-town" life was far too dull for her. So, upon recieving the letter, she jumped at the opportunity to attend the academy.

Personality
Generally very kind, but doesn't entirely understand the concept of personal space. Despite her kindness, she enjoys drama and being the center of attention--for better or worse. Has trouble understanding others and tends to be egocentric and flirty. On a good day, she's very confident and lively; on a bad, very moody and withdrawn.

Partner
To be decided

Fear(s)/Weakness(es)/Limit(s)
She carries two short swords in case she's forced into melee, but she doesn't excel at close combat. Physically, she's not as strong as humans, which is typical for elves.

Strange Attributes/Abilities/Traits
She can manipulate most plant life as needed and is almost always immediately loved by animals. With her bow, she's an extremely good shot. She's paritcularly agile and flexible and is great at climbing over and about obstacles.

Theme Song

Other
Prefers a vegetarian diet. She's also an awesome dancer.

Here's a second potential character. But everyone seems to want to do something different with dragons and if we prefer a universal, I can drop her

Her dragon form

Full Name
Dagny Ek

Nicknames
Dags, Dag, Daggy

Gender
Female

Age
About 100, and appears to be in her late teens

Year
4th

Birthday
April 11

Astrological Sign
Aries

Species
Dragon: dragons of Earth are as rare as other magical species, but far stronger. They take it upon themselves to defend other beings from hunters and humans who would exploit them. Overtime, they have "evolved" to take human shape, allowing them to blend in with society as necessary. They're strong and durable creatures, and (on earth) only another dragon's fangs or claws can penetrate their scales. However, the magic on Lucis is far more advanced, so there might be some weaknesses found there. They tend to live to be ten times as old as humans, so the early hundreds tend to be considered young.

Class
Fighter / Tank

Weapon
Claws, typically. Fire.

World
Earth

Short Biography
Born and raised in Swedan, Dagny was always taught to help others. So, when the letter from the Academy arrived, she was quick to leave home.

Personality
Dagny holds herself to high standards and typically does a good job of meeting those standards. This can lead to her being extremely hard on herself when she messes up, and she tends to hold herself (and other dragons) responsible for the safety of other magical beings whether or not she is able to intervene. She's motivated and ambitious, and doesn't really do anything half-assed. Like, if you're walking, she's POWER WALKING. If you're eating dinner, she's DEVOURING DINNER. While this can make her come of as intimidating or intense, she's generally in a good, loud mood. She used to get embarrassed and quiet down, but now she's rather confrontational when she gets odd looks or whispers--though she doesn't usually mean harm.

Partner
To be decided

Fear(s)/Weakness(es)/Limit(s)
Dragons are far sighted so up close, they can't see as well. Because of her natural size and weight, Dagny is physically slower than most fighters. While it's nearly impossible to penetrate or bruise her skin, any damage to her mouth or eyes will hurt like a bitch. Magic can do harm to her, too. She's not as strong as a full fledged dragon either.

Strange Attributes/Abilities/Traits
Fire breathing, super strength, and super tanky. Her true form is compacted into her human body, making her ridiculously dense and massive despite her being average size for a person. This weight makes her extremely hard to knock of her feet. On that note, she can turn into a dragon (or rather she can turn into a human because her default form is a dragon).

Theme Song

Other
She tends to speak English, but her Swedish accent gets thicker the more emotional or passionate she is. She's also gay, preferring women to men ten times out of ten.

So you want racism out of history books? Racism is apart of history as war is, it's bad but it played their role during the time of man. I'm not from racism and all (once more). But my stand on this topic is that you say "African-American" as a former way and you say "Black" in a informal way. Think of it as the Spanish way of saying 'you', there is tú, the informal way of saying you; 'usted' is the formal way of saying it. In short, use "African-American" as a way to show manners and use "Black" as a normal means of talking.

Actually "African-American" doesn't apply to everyone who is "black." They are not always interchangeable. And you thinking they are kinda show cases the issue.

And what are you talking about with the history lesson exactly? I literally don't understand your point. Also starting your point with "I'm not racist, but..." probably means you're at least a little racist.
That works for me.
What does literally any of that have to do with this issue and thread? And please drop the "there are bigger issues so don't worry about this one" mentality. It's just an excuse to be apathetic.
