A few weeks ago I had to right a essay, under exam conditions, about "Lord of the Flies" expect I never bothered to read it and just read a few summaries the night before fully expecting to fail or barely pass.

I just got the results back and I got 97%

My first year at uni; when I mostly horribly crashed and burned, I got a similar mark on an exam I hadn't studied for. It was because all but three of the answers could be found in horrible history magazines.

Reading books will also help you become a better writer.
