Augur of the Faith

Suzerain Christabelle Scott
Healers of the Seventh Divine

Hailing from a family of devotees of Zameen's primary religion, Seventh Divinity, Christabelle Scott was raised to be a priestess, following the footsteps of her own grandmother, the Sixth Augur of Faith, Suzerain Helena Burgess. Diligent with her studies and goal oriented to succeed her grandmother's legacy, she began wearing a phresu or the mask of purity at the young age of 5. Under the strict tutelage of Helena, she was hailed as the seventh Augur of the Faith at the young age of 23, finally relieving the former Suzerain of the Phresu Dei Usil (Mask of the Sun). The mask is a sign of a suzerain's responsibility to treat all in a fair manner, depriving her of her sense of vision to eliminate all visual bias and at the same time making her sense of hearing keener to enable her to tune in to the emotion behind spoken words. This practice is deeply rooted in the religion's precepts but some people wonder if it is highly influenced by the Governor-General's own practice of wearing a mask. To date, there are still a lot of speculations as to why the leader of the church wears a mask that blinds her.

Soft spoken and gentle, Christabelle is known for her patience and kind words. During church services, she is often seen sitting at the pulpit, ready and available for those who would approach her. Many people have made testimonies that her mere words could alleviate any pain and banish any ailment, cementing her place as some sort of saint in the minds of believers.
Have a character in mind for this. I'll run her by you as soon as I finish fleshing her out, Snag. Should be finished later today or tomorrow.

All occupants if the dining table were lost in their own thoughts, making the meal a silent one. Claudia thought about how to deal with the pesky magic users, Caius chewed on the idea of having Callie turn herself into one of them while Darric watched them all. A few minutes passed by before the pack leader decided to break the silence. He cleared his throat. "I can see the wheels in your heads turning. Let me hear it then, he said, looking pointedly at Caius.

Caius lifted his head, blue eyes looking straight into Darric's gray ones. "Callie is thinking of turning herself into one of us... magically," he stated straightforwardly. "Claudia thinks it's a good idea," he added.

Mmhmm... Claudia agreed in between chewing, not bothering to say anything else.

Darric's gaze was still on Caius. But he didn't need to voice out the next question. "I'm honestly worried. Callie has strong magic but I don't exactly know how magic is with wolf physiology and psychology. But I'd trust her if she thinks she can do it," Caius answered the pack leader's unspoken question.

Darric gave Caius a small nod before turning his attention to the witch. "Well...?"

"Seriously, Ethan. A Sabbatical? Right in the middle of your busy season? Tell me you're kidding," Lee's manager, Chloe, said in an incredulous voice. Being on the phone with an actor who suddenly decided to up and go wherever he wanted was not something she was prepared to deal with.

"Sabbatical," Lee confirmed into his phone. "Seriously. I've been working my ass off for years. Don't you think I deserve a break once in a while?"

"Of course, you deserve some you time but at least you could've told me maybe a month earlier? You have a full schedule well into next year. How am I supposed to tell them that our dear Ethan Walsh just suddenly disappeared into thin air like some sort of apparition?" Chloe sighed. "Where are you?"

"Somewhere hopefully fun. Don't worry too much. Just tell everyone I had some sort of breakdown and I needed to take time off for a breather. I don't know. Be creative. I'm not gonna be staying away too long anyway," Lee replied.

"I swear, Lee. If you weren't like a son to me, I'd quit and leave you to deal with all of this... this..." the older woman complained.

"Love you too, Chloe. Thanks. I'll bring you home a gift," Lee grinned, knowing full well that Chloe would handle the situation.

"You'd better," she grumbled. "Please stay out of trouble," she reminded before finally saying goodbye and ending the call.

"How much trouble can I get into?" Lee chuckled as he pulled on a pair of sunglasses and a baseball cap before stepping out of the car and into The Plaza. It was two hours before the big event, just enough time to get settled in and make himself presentable. The Aristophane Project promised to pair him with his life partner. He was a little skeptical about it but hey, why the hell not? It wasn't hard to make the decision to go for it. If it didn't work out, then he'd just walk away and back to his usual routine. If there was indeed someone there for him then, he'd have someone. Either way, it was a vacation and he had all intentions of enjoying it.

As planned, it didn't take long for the actor to get settled in, refreshed and dressed in a gray suit and black tie. He made his way down into the ballroom and made a quick scan of the tables. He found his name easily enough. Making sure he remembered which table he was supposed to sit in, he headed for the bar. He wasn't planning on getting drunk but a drink or two wouldn't hurt to get the party started. "Dry Martini, please," he asked the bartender, giving her a smile when he noticed the look of recognition on her face. He leaned back and waited for his drink, returning the smiles of all that passed him by. Several did a double take, some approached and made small talk with him. He glanced over to a small group of people crowding around a pretty woman in a Bohemian dress. Pretty. he thought before turning back to the bartender.

"Here you go, Ethan," she said with a bright smile.

"Thanks. You can just call me Lee," he replied as he took the drink. Ethan, Leon, Lee. It didn't really matter which name he was called. But he was the most relaxed with Lee, it's what his family and friends called him. And since this was a vacation and he planned on making friends, he'd ask everyone to call him that.

Dorm Hall
6:00 PM

"No, I'm not in a pub. I'm just at the dorm and there's a party here, Mama... Party... no, just... ะฒะตั‡ะตั€ะธะฝะบะฐ. ะฒะต-ั‡ะต-ั€ะธะฝ-ะบะฐ!" Sasha enunciated each syllable until she heard her mother say 'ah' on the other line. Besides, I'm too old for you to be checking up on me," she muttered, rolling her eyes exasperatedly as she listened to her mom ramble on about the dangers of getting drunk and doing drugs. "Ugh. Stop worrying too much... Yes, I promise. I'll just call you again whenever, ok? ...I am... yeah, I will. ะฏ ะปัŽะฑะปัŽ ั‚ะตะฑั. Bye!" she immediately ended the call before her mom could say anything else and then fell back on her bed, relieved that her room mate wasn't there to overhear the conversation. Seriously. She knew how protective her parents was of her since she was an only child but a little freedom wouldn't hurt. But unfortunately, it was an alien concept to her mother. And it was one of the reasons why she left Russia in the first place.

'You'll be enrolled in the state college. I think a business course just like what your cousin Yuri took. He's planning on putting up a small business and it would be good if you can help him out with it after you graduate.' Everything was planned, everything already mapped out and nobody even bothered asking her what she wanted to do and what course she wanted to take. She didn't want to go into business. Ever since she was little, she knew that she wanted to go into music. But despite saying it over and over again and despite having her dad already agree to it, her mother still insisted on that business course she was somehow convinced her daughter wanted. And so as soon as she had gotten her acceptance letter, she packed her violin, got on a plane and flew off, despite her mother's protests. "I bet if she was here, she'd dictate what I wear to the party too," she grumbled as she stood up. "But hey, I'm here and she's not. So I better make the most out of it," she mumbled, pushing the thought of her mother out of her head.

After putting on a simple denim shirt and black jeans, she went over to the mirror, patted some make up on and then pulled her hair into a stylishly messy half-ponytail. As soon as she was satisfied with her look, she went out to the dorm hall and joined the party, depositing a big bag of vodka chocolates onto the table beside the snacks other people brought. She looked around, not particularly familiar with everyone yet but recognized some of the faces. The floor manager passed by her, followed closely behind by the slightly strange but pretty friendly guy she'd seen around. She was sure she heard his name before but couldn't quite remember. Over by the couch was her room mate, Venus, eating brownies with a guy she wasn't familiar with. Not wanting to bother any of them, she made her way to the refreshment table, politely excusing herself from her Korean dorm mate who was dancing to the music.

Spotting something she was quite familiar with, she grabbed one of the vodka bottles, scanned its label and then poured herself a shot glass full of it. The transparent liquid disappeared in one gulp. Should be good with pickles... too bad I don't see any... she thought to herself, contemplating on whether she wanted to eat, to drink more or to socialize.

"No, Claudia would say that that's actually one of the wisest thing you've come up with so far," Claudia said from the door of the cabin, a bowl of what looked like scrambled eggs and bacon in her hand. Impatient that her brother had not come in yet, she returned to the cabin's door just in time to hear what Callie had to say. She gave her a long appraising look from head to toe. "I mean, being human... frail and helpless and easily killed. It isn't worth shit in this fight. Fine, you have your magic to back you up but like I said, I'm not fond of abracadabra all that much." She pointed a fork, in between bites, at Callie. "Kudos for you for being brave enough to suggest it. I wanna see if you have the guts enough to go through with it," she said and then made an obviously impatient gesture towards the younger of the twins. "I seriously doubt that you don't find yourself extremely hungry with this aroma."

Caius looked towards Claudia, not exactly surprised that she was agreeing with Callie. She had always been one to live on the edge and the first to try dangerous feats without really thinking it through first. He nodded at his sister's invitation to eat before turning back towards Callie. "Guess you have her opinion then. Come on, let's go in. She's right about me being starving too," he said, leading Callie up the steps and back indoors.
