His reason is it's hard to get out of those habits." *James said as he looks at Helena, forgetting for a moment that Edmond was also there. But right now he didn't really care, and it seems Neric hates the fact as well. They have to let it go or else it will eat them alive the thought* "Neric here changed a bit after, keeps telling himself-" *Interrupted as the Void flies off to one of the windows, James sighing as he speaks again. His eyes on his Void* "Well, basic idea. He blames himself for her death, he thinks he could have done something to protect her. And he's told me about his past... trust me, don't ask him. It's a lot of bad, bad memories there. I think the point he decided to change his ways and not be like the other Voids was Hitler's time..." *James said as he sighs, shaking his head and covering his face. Elbows on the counter, he needed to get this off his chest. It's hurting both of them to keep it locked away*

"Well, interesting to know. But even made up characters can be an inspiration to people, gives us something to kinda want to be like. I mean we'll never be someone that will always make the right choices but we can always try." *James would say as he smiles at Helena, and he wasn't kidding. There are people that try to do the right thing as best as they could though everyone is human. Everyone makes mistakes, and if he needed an example of what she does that can be considered what Wonder Woman is like... he can bring up Neric again. For a creature like him, she knew what she was getting into and still stood up to him. He's seen people do the same against Granger, including the girl that he and Neric remember. But the thought took his smile as he looked away* "And don't worry about it Helena. You aren't to blame for that, she stood up to a Void to defend me... she didn't last long at all. We didn't even get to stop her, she just ran out plead for it to stop..." *He shook his head, making a movement with his hand like he was sweeping something away* "Just slammed her to the side, I could swear I heard bones break and I knew she was dead when she hit the wall..." *Neric at this point would be all bundled up, whether is suppressing memories or feel bad about what happened is beyond them*

"Thanks I guess, she wouldn't want us to have that hold us back. I know that for a fact, so me and Neric have been doing our best to continue with our lives huh buddy." *The little Void just nodding, fluttering his wings again as he flies over onto James's shoulder. Getting comfortable there on his shoulder as James chuckles softly, the little Void had his issues but seems to be trying his best. Which is making it easier for James at least, him rubbing the bird's wing gently. Looking at Helena as he smiles softly* "You have or had anyone that you respected a lot in life?"

"I see, well at least they care about you. All that matters, and for the powers. I guess everything happens for a reason right? Well that's what I think anyway..." *James says as he looks at her, though he was curious why they would test something so new on their daughter would be a mystery to him. Though their intentions were good, she still has deal with what she was given. Not that it's a bad thing, just society if James knows people. And he's dealt with people that don't like him cause of Neric. Though he gets his attention snapped back when he heard Helena ask about if it's his first time being in a safe place, putting his fork down as he shakes his head* "Actually no, but those times are gone. One person I enjoyed time with in the past, gone. So I am kinda forced to move on..." *Looking at the table as he shakes his head, Neric going still as one of his feet scratches at the table*

"Don't worry about it, they were scared of Neric so they just kicked me out when I was young... I think it was... what again? Ten years? Ahh I can't remember but why would I want to? It was a lot of bad time for me, glad I'm gone from there." *James would say as he looks back at his meal, taking a moment from eating the rest as he thinks. Looking back at Helena as he asks his question, though was going to be more then happy to not continue if she didn't wanna answer* "So how about your family? Hope they are nicer and more caring for you then mine were for me."

*James chuckles a bit, putting his fork down as he looks at Helena. He seems in good spirits as his eyes did make a motion over to Cecilia's area, his mind wandering for just a second as his eyes go back to Helena. He was worried that she is taking it out on herself, why she was off on her own. Or maybe he was wrong, regardless he gave Helena his full attention as he spoke* "Actually Helena, Neric has been with me since I was born. I was born with a scar on my hand that split open and wouldn't heal no matter what me or my ex-family did."

*James would watch as Neric's clouds around him spread out a bit, while Edmond's focus was shifted away. A tentacle shot out of the dark cloud, catching one of the peppers and pulling it away. Holding it way up in the air as Neric chuckles without moving, only his tail shifting back and forth* "You'll learn about Voids later on, but do note that we can't be hurt. The downfall of a husk, we Voids can't be hurt since the pain actually shifts to them... so if you do hurt me, you'll hurt him. And I will not be too happy about that. Another reason I can't compete." *The pepper literally disintegrating in the tentacle as Neric sighs softly* "Ahh, good source of fiery energy..." *The tentacle putting the dried up pepper back on the table for Edmond as he looks to Helena* "To be fair Helena, you were in the right. Most of us Voids are not friendly and can easily harm others with little harm to ourselves. If it was any other Void then I commend you for your actions." *The bird of a Void hopping over to her and gently tapping her shirt with his beak and tugging on it a bit*
