Well I can't imagine it being too far off from the x-amount of us trying to kill eachother by using future-seeing diaries. The story isn't the problem, the problem is trying to come up with a way to project the future entries without breaking the game and/or making it trivial/boring.
So either way it's pointless because with one way we already know things are going to happen before they're predicted because they're reactionary, or everyone knows what the prediction is because its posted publicly and the game becomes trivial.
It's not that the players need to magically line up with the GM's predictions, its the other way around. When the GM sees that a player is set on doing something, that creates a projectable outcome that the GM can form into an entry.
Then we would all know what's going to happen. That defeats the purpose of what Mirai Nikki is.
While not trusting random people online to not powerplay and ruin the game was where I was going with it, I think it would also make the game more dynamic and interesting, we as players would have no idea what futures would be ordained by our diaries, just like in the anime.
Is this not a pvp oriented rp, just as the show was? Having a team-based scenario would break the game, and while letting us make alternate characters who are antagonistic remedies it slightly, the problem still stand that whomever is playing the enemy would still be able to read the entries of the other "team" just by those entries being posted in the thread.

I think the GM should handle all entry-making, so that players can't control their futures any more than characters in the anime could. The GM should send private messages to the players depicting their entries, and players can use private messages to discreetly show each other their entries so that players who own characters that can't see the entry won't see it.
What aspect of fantasy are you looking to do? Will there be races/magic? Unless Dark Fantasy is something specific I've never heard of.
How will notifying players of their diary updates work? It would be sort-of stupid to display the entries where every other player can read them too.

Is the sprite art for the classes really needed though?

Yes because the game is played on an actual map, just like in the videogames.
I'm working on converting my charts and data to a format presentable on this forum. It's still work in progress though, not all of the spriting for things like units, skills and maps are complete. There is enough presentable art to play especially since all the base-class art is complete (since everyone playing starts off at level 1 of course), but we would have to do so while temporarily omitting certain (unannounced) classes of my design, and with only 1 playable map. Having said that I'll probably display these charts in an OOC when I'm done with the conversion, which will be tonight the latest.
