I'm sort of unsure as to how I'd enter as well to be honest. Also I did I go for Josuke or Joseph Joestar for my char?
Maybe after I pick a universe for the heroes to go in (probably another multiverse-kind of hub area or something), then you can put your character in.
And yes, you picked Joesph Joestar. Jolyne and Kars seem to be the only active Jojo characters atm.

Here's whats going on on my side of this. Basically, the heroes have created their own ragtag group in Arcadia, but had been invaded by a group known as the Alliance of Conquerers with combined forces of the Imperial Empire. One of the main heroes is dead and the ones that survive are going to enter through a portal that will take them to another world.
There are other things going on elsewhere, but you may want to ask people around for more info on their situations.

As with the story, here's the gist of everything right now (or the major part). Our heroes are being driven back by the Alliance Of Conquerers, with combined forces of the Empire. Nova has already died while trying to sacrifice himself for his friends, and now everyone nearby is heading towards the portal that opened up to escape into another universe.
There's other parts of it as well, but you might want to ask around for more detail.
