The Underground Movement had a mundane and cyber presence whenever there were a load of Metas or just disaffected Normal Humans; how else would Isabella get many supplicants for the power she was a master at providing? The mundane presence was in the derelict parts of the city, where low-class workers of all kinds were willing to listen to anyone who was willing to provide them a hope of power, a hope of striking back against real and imagined oppressors.

And, even now, the Underground recruiters, Vampires and Elves and physically appealing 'monsters', were talking to a group of enraptured Low-level Metas and Normal Humans, offering them more power than they can ever imagine. Isabella, in the five years since the Aperture battle, had learned to control her powers better, to create beings that, though still inhuman, were physically appealing, meaning that she can offer a better bargain...

The night was still young, but there were already people on the streets, drinking or attending social gatherings. Gatherings occur in places of leisure, such as restaurants or movies, or even dingy, low class bars. And it was in one of these bars, a dimly lit, somewhat smelly affair, that John Rivers found himself tonight. He took a sip of his vodka shot, but he wasn't in the mood for drinking tonight. His hood hid his unshaven face as he surveyed the people in the bar tonight. Drunkards, drug addicts, unemployed. A gathering of outcasts, it seemed. Outcasts like him. But he was here for a reason. There was something that might happen tonight, and if it did, it would be a dream come true. A way to get revenge...

The Vampires' and Elves' words were smooth, charismatic, and, to the desperate people who were their audience, able to cut through all reservation. John Rivers, however, won't need that. He was, in his heart, a member of the Underground movement already; he just didn't know it. And so, the Vampires began leading the people gathered to a secret tunnel leading to the Underground Labyrinth, established by whatever corporations weren't cowed into honest business.

This tunnel will lead to an antechamber, where, surrounded by more Vampires and Elves, Isabella Lancaster, War-Queen, Echidna, Mother of Monsters, and leader of the Underground Movement, sat on a high throne, proclaiming:

"I am Isabella Lancaster, the provider of power, of might, of beauty and handsomness. I can provide you with food, drugs, shelter, and, of course, revenge against those who oppressed you, revenge against the hypocrites in Government, revenge against all those who deny you what is your right!"

It didn't take much to set off that crowd of misfits. It would probably have taken half of it to reel them in, but regardless of what it took, the crowd of people cheered at Isabella's words. John lent his voice to the cry, a shout that carried the weight of their anger. These people were tired of being down-trodden. Of being stepped on and then thrown away. It didn't matter why they were there or how they got there, their minds were one. They wanted power, power enough to bite back. Power and money, and anything. To the lower-class mob, Isabella appeared as a glorious queen, guiding them to an age of glory and freedom.

"Then so be it!" shouted Isabella as she raised her hands, causing a cloud of spores to fly out, enveloping the crowd of willing supplicants. Said supplicants were instantly transformed into fair men and women, Vampires and Elves and Succubi and False Ophanim, as well as a couple of Serpentfolk. Only John was untouched, as he was not willing to be changed.

"What is this?" said Isabella curiously at John Rivers. "Has someone rejected my gift?" she questioned as her guards took out their arms in sudden paranoia.

"I want to take revenge." John said slowly, wary of the eyes around him. "But I want to do it as myself. I want... I want those bastards to see as I am as I kill them. I want them to know what they did. I want them to know that if they hurt my friends, if they hurt my family, if they mock me, then I'll be the one to finish them!"

"The rage is real...and pure," spoke Isabella as the others finished their change, and were given new clothing and armor by her guards. "Very well, I accept your service. What is your name, my new minion?"

"My name is John. John Rivers." He replied.

"I will find much use in you...Mr. Rivers. Call it...a hunch."

This is pretty long and basically just an intro post so you don't really have to read it

In a dark room underground, a lab coat-clad man typed onto his computer. The glow of multiple computer screens lit his pale face as he continued typing, ignoring the world around him.
Ruby Greenfoot. He typed.
He adjusted his glasses with one hand and continued.

Powers: Technopathy, affinity to technology. He wrote. Likely associated with an area of the brain, possibility of additional sensory lobe.
He paused to scroll down on another of his screens and continued.

Apparent withdrawal symptoms when not exposed to technology, possible result of experiments performed on the subject at a young age. He noted. Chance for the successful removal of said trait through surgery.

He finished the report quickly, adding another note.
Status: Alive. Valued by the movement. Research method: Observation.

Finishing the file, he closed it and opened a new document, taking the cup of coffee on his desk and having a sip. He took his other hand off of the mouse and fished out a dossier from a stack of papers, this one bearing information on another meta.

Jaden McFadden. He began. Powers: Biomass manipulation. No theory has been formed to rationalise his power. He read more of the dossier and continued.

Possible link to the brain. He wrote. Observation provides limited information, dissection necessary for further understanding. He readjusted his glasses once again and swept his black hair outside of his field of vision. In the back of his mind, he noted that he should probably get a new pair and a haircut, but he quickly archived the thought for later. He continued his task.

Status: Alive. Valued by the movement. Research method: Observation. He finished.

He moved on to the next file, Harper Hudson.

Powers: Teleportation, toxin creation and secretion (secreted through teeth. Nature: neurotoxic), ‘meta-sense’ (manifests through smell, Metahumans smell “different” according to subject), acid-producing glands, physiological mutations (heightened regeneration, heightened physical strength, second eyelid, other possible physiological changes), ability to sense others around him. Subject identifies this ability as a low-level telepathy ability to detect brainwaves. He wrote.

The scientist put down the paper he’d been copying down and took another, this one filled with his contentions.

Mutations, toxin creation and acid production are likely the result of full-body mutation. Subject’s appearance supports this theory. He wrote.High likelihood of additional organs, definite additional poison and acid glands. Status: Alive. Bodyguard of Ruby Greenfoot. Contracted with underground movement.

He moved on to the last file for today: Isabella Lancaster.

Isabella Lancaster. He typed out. Powers: Biomancy (through spores). Mutation on willing subjects.

This time, the scientist paused. He had very little clues as to the nature of Isabella’s powers. They were rather enigmatic, and she herself didn’t have deep enough knowledge about her own power for the scientist’s use. After a moment spent thinking, he continued typing.

Subject’s power creates spores which contain the power to heal damage to the recipient’s body, said spores are seemingly absorbed in order to do so. He typed. Subject’s spores also have the power to mutate willing recipients, transforming their bodies into different forms. Subject seems to have complete control on the recipients’ transformations, and most are seemingly inspired by mythology.
To that part of the file, the scientist added several dissection notes of various subjects mutated by Isabella, some attained from the aftermath of the Aperture battle, some attained more recently, with permission of course. He drained down the rest of his coffee and continued typing.

Unknown origin. Analysis of spores was difficult and yielded few answers. Spores are biological in nature, and bear similarities to fungal spores. He typed. Nothing else was gleaned. Questioning the subject did not give satisfactory answers. Dissection is likely necessary for further understanding.

He finally capped it off by typing in the last few notes.
Status: Alive. Leader of the underground movement. Research method: Observation. He wrote.
After he saved and closed the file, he checked his other files. He opened his ‘power profile’ folder and a large list of profiles appeared.

He had profiles on the large majority of people of interest, including superheroes, mercenaries and those from the underground movement. The files included Adam Savage, Dean Kycek, Light, Alto Ganze, Elijah Craigh, Cedric Wessex, Nathan Hunter, Zachary Talbot, Elena Reyes, and Jackson Ducarthy, among many, many more. They were filled with so many details that it was almost scary. But the scientist paid that no mind. He had a few changes to do.

He quickly opened a few files and changed some of their details. Most were just minor changes to his theories of their powers, but for some, he changed their status. Some were light, such as employment changes and the like. There were quite a number of mercenaries who were unemployed, as business had quickly dwindled over the last 5 years. But some were heavier than that. Deaths, dissections and other things began to pile up.

The scientist opened the file for Velocity Max and Constantine King.

Velocity Max. Status: Deceased. He wrote. Body acquisition preparations near completion.

Constantine Ramiel King. Status: Deceased. He wrote. Body acquisition operation underway. Dissection preparations ready.

With that, he closed his files and stood up from his chair, paying no mind to his stiff muscles. They would fix themselves as he walked. The scientist paced through the old sewer walls, fortified now with concrete and steel. He entered one of the many decrepit rooms and arrived in an old reservoir, now re-serviced as his holding cell. In the middle of the room sat a large, powerful creature with 2 heads. A giant lion and goat head shared room on the broad shoulders, and underneath the thick brown coat, powerful muscles rippled across. The end of its tail writhed as if it was alive. A snake, with poison strong enough to kill a man dozens of times over.

The creature lay, unconscious, in the middle of the reservoir. The scientist took a notebook from his pocket and penned down its breathing rate, sleeping posture and size. He took off his glasses and glowing dots appeared on the world, of varying shapes and sizes. He stared at the points on his creation and put his glasses back on. He noted down their size and closed his notebook.
It’s growing at a satisfactory pace. He concluded. Chimera is ready for testing in the Rabbit Run.

With that, the scientist paced off into the darkness of the old sewer, making his rounds to check on his other experiments.

I am alive and will post soon. I injured a muscle in my arm/shoulder which makes day-to-day tasks difficult. Thankfully however, I am recovering. I apologise.

The underground movement have some kind of accelerated pregnancy thing or something, so while a normal baby would take around 9 months, this one will take 2 weeks and the woman bearing tree-jesus will probably die, so the time limit is 2 weeks.

Name: John Rivers

Alias: Blowtorch

Age: 38

Affiliations: Underground movement

Description: John is a grizzled brown haired man, an epitome of a man who’s out of the job. His build is average and his eyes are brown. He’s around 6 foot. No beard.

Personality: Depressive, broody and grunt-like describe him pretty well. He has thoughts, feelings and all that stuff but when given a task, he shuts up and gets to work.

Powers: He can produce a flame with similar intensity, size and temperature to a blowtorch from his hands. Also slightly fireproof, but only slightly.

Skills: Relatively average builder strength, capability of following orders (if that’s a skill)

Equipment: Phone, clothes, a handgun for self-defence

Ranking: D (pretty low D)

Backstory: John lived a fairly normal life. After finishing school at the age of 18, he became a typical blue-collar builder. Eventually, he gained his meta power and things got worse. Not quite good enough to be useful, but bad enough to be singled out for it. Back when discrimination and stuff were still rife, his friends (and girlfriend) were killed just because they were associated with him. He lost his job and his life was generally bad. He stuck through, however, because he wanted revenge on those who wronged him. He joined the movement so that he could take revenge, despite his weakness.

He's pretty weak, but you see, I have this plan. That's all I'm willing to disclose for the moment, you'll have to wait and see what it is.
