Except it wouldn't we could explain the time period. Perhaps it's just before WWII, however the major difference is the aspects of the god(s) etc. We could each claim our country and take something mythical to explain that nation.

Um I'm assuming that if the map is of WWI then poland wasn't even a country and hitler is from austria and at the time of WWI austria-hungary was very powerful so why would he come into power in germany. Especially when they were lead by a "loved" Kaiser.

Because, I needed a puppet to sell my colonies to and have a reasonable ally in the colonial wars. I choose France because they had a democratic revolution not dissimilar to the oneI gave Britain, so they were natural friends.

You realize France also controls all of SE Asia thanks to me loaning my colonies, as well as most African colonies. race would also control most of Brazil, Portuguese colonies, various dutch colonies, in fact, every Portuguese/British/French/Spanish/Dutch/Danish colony not belonging to me belongs to France. That is a large nation. Due to the fact that there are too many colonies for me to hold with a clear conscious, I would say France sold you any of those, or maybe awarded them duet something. However, the french main;land is too critical to my history.

So you're basically saying... you've made france you're puppet and you just don't want to make it look like you own a hole heap of land. Why'd you make history for a country you nor anyone else controls...

Because he saw how powerful you are and the other power would be me so he decides to go with the person who owns the mainland. Also you own at least a quarter of the world losing france wouldn't hurt you that much.
