Anyone have any name ideas for the empire? making it chinese or roman sounding might be a bit too "on the nose"
I will try to get some cultures for you to look over tommorow but heres what I have so far

One is kinda a fusion of Rome (especially byzantine) and China, a multiethnic culture that has in the past covered a large portion of the world. they have had influences on religion, culture, and language. They are from fairly far east however and never really truly controlled the lands this is taking place in. For this nation, Religion and Government were intertwined with the Heavenly beurocracy. Rather than having a king, they had a Pontifex, which acquired the title through complicated political maneuvering. One of the greatest things they gave to the world is the Common Tongue spread by its missionaries. Teaching people the common tongue of "the civilized world" was seen as more important than teaching the preceps of religion. The Religion of this nation is somewhat pantheistic, Venerating countless spirits of both the natural and human world. Magic practiced by this nation often involves bargaining with these spirits. This is the one I have the most work done on as I have used varients of it before.

While the soldiers of this nation are "ok" and nowhere near the most elite warriors the world has to offers, the logistics of the military is legendary. They have skilled messengers (sometimes using arcane means to communicate tactical information) and use a mixture of mundane and arcane supply methods (such as having shamans bargain with the spirits of the land, the civilization will give the spirit a favor in return for food and protection for example.)

Women occupy high roles in society (Gender ratios of Pontifex are fairly even), possibly because of in the ancient history of the cultures of the area, women were often in charge of managing households while the men were engaged in physically demanding work.

I am still deciding on a name.
Geez, guys, we have all sorts of romances here. An immortal and a fairy being cute in a cafe, a shapeshifter and a necromancer flirting in an apartment, an elf delivering flowers to her vampire soulmate, and an angsty gorgon and demon beating people up in a bar.

We have just reached diversity. Bravo, my friends.

Considering playing as an Egregore of a Corporation who, fearing losing individuality from a change in company directions (kinda like having your brain forcibly rewired). has taken an action that put it in legal scrutiny and the public eye. something weird happened, like, if it was mccdonals, all employees came into work wearing clown suits and started speaking in tongues and performing strange occult rituals.

You hear talk about corporate personhood and people mocking the concept, but what happens when the corporation actually *IS* a person, with emotions, agency and all that.

Question is where does the ink appear on an egregore?
I am very interested in creating ideas, Races, Places, Cultures, Religions, Schools of Philosophy, Mystery Cults, you name it.
@Lucidnonsense No. Humans and the supernatural creatures live together side by side.

Oh ok, so they know about eachother? for how long has this been the case.
The robed being wondered why it bothered with descending to this hell, the place disgusted it. a corruption had been spreading throughout the tree of life, a cancer perhaps it could learn more of the plague that gripped the multiverse. 'Which crusade were you attacked in?" it said. It would start with small talk as these creatures seemed primarily concerned on trivial concerns as physical events.
Oh how does the masquerade or whatever work in this? how are supernatural things kept secret?
Cool cool @GoodLuckTuck Now I need to look for a really uncanny valley looking picture.
For races, what about things that Look human but aren't human, like, perhaps its a human body being possessed by something else?
I am currently deciding on playing a "possibly fallen but possibly loyal" angel or a "human" from a world where magic was the norm. What kind of character do you think would mesh best?
