Some people need to make a hard choice when deciding which two karaoke streams they want to listen to. I have no such weakness: I have two ears for a reason.

The hard part about trying to play some politically savvy mastermind is the assumption that the world operates off real world politics and not your DM’s politics.

Don't put too much stock in prophesies. At best they're full of shit, but more often than not they're one of those self-fullilling kinds. Plan for what happens afterwards instead.

A character isn't deep or compelling just because you let them get hurt a lot, are always depressed, or do morally questionable things.

Bio

If you're here either you're wondering what I'm doing cause I need to post in your RP (In which case, calm yo tits, I'll get around to it), or you want to know who I am. So let's begin.

I'm a college age asian kid who has more heart than he has senses. I'm still working out this whole "adulthood" thing, so until then I just do what I feel I must. As far as personality and traits go, I'm not one for boasting. So if there's anything redeeming about myself you'd have to figure it out in person or by word-of-mouth. Generally however I'm rather perverted, in the best and worst ways. nothing is too much until I've crossed the line, and that just means I've started.

As far as Roleplays I like, I have a thing for fantasy, though I'm also good for some types of sci-fi, supernatural, Modern, and slice-of-life. If it's open and sandbox, I'll probably join it. Never really been a romantic, I often chose to sexualize any notion of romantic encounters I come across. I generally write at Casual quality, though I have no issues with Free-Level Rp/Players and I can hold my own in Advance.

Last you remembered, Pylia said she was going to be staying at the Inn. And sure enough when you arrive Pylia is at the inn and reading a book. It looked different from yours, as it hers had a black cover with some crimson markings on it. When she sees you Pylia closes the book and waves. "Hey Sylvia. You sure took your sweet time. Did those priests rope you into some sort of sermon or something?"
Sighing Dirk stood up. “Honestly I want to go take a nap on the beach. But no rest for the wicked, right?” Soon you and Dirk would leave, with Toi waiting outside. The two would part ways from you and head towards Yerro’s shop where they’ll have their hands full with his shipment. It was a few hours after noon, not quite close to sun set but certainly not the middle of the day. Work around the village was still loud and rowdy but nothing else was too different.

There was, at least, one new development. Seemed like some new folk were coming into town, traders by the looks of it. They had a lot of young men and women unloading goods from a wagon, and soon Toi and Dirk would also be there moving cargo. There were only two young men who seemed to be guards, dressed in chain shirts, armed with longswords and shields. The leader of the caravan was presumably an older looking fellow who was talking to Iola.
“Honestly, I just wanna put my old life behind me. The things I’ve done... Don’t wanna make a living doing that anymore. Becoming an innkeeper might not be a life full of fun and adventure but I’d take a boring life over one filled with terror.” Dirk finishes his ale and flips the mug over. He looked up to you and leaned forward.

“If you’re heading to Gransys there’s a few things you should know. Between here and Gransys are two military camps that can take in travelers to rest and trade. Try and make it to them before it gets too late so you’ll have a safe place to rest. The road between Cassari and the first camp is called the Sea Breeze trail. My camp is on this trail. Fairly safe sans the goblins, but they’re more active at night than the day. Stay on the road and you should be able to avoid them.”

Dirk begins to look uneasy however, rubbing his hands together. “The way between the first and second camp will have Iron Hammer bandits. My... Former kin. They have two ambush spots. One will be at an old ruined stone house, they use it for cover. The second is on the highest hill near a large tree. This spot is where most of the newcomers get experience with the work. But don’t misunderstand; none of those men have the same morals as me. They go knowing what they’re doing. I don’t know how you feel about killing men, but don’t expect any mercy.”

Finally Dirk let his hands go and asked for a refill. When he got it he immediately chugged the mug and let out a satisfied sigh, and slightly tipsy. “And finally... When you reach the second camp, your going to have to go through a mountain pass. Treacherous place filled with monsters. Goblins and harpies an shite. Fortunately the Iron Hammer don’t set up ship there but there’s no garuntee other gangs won’t be hiding there. So you got two ways to head here. If you go over the top of the mountains, goblins, harpies, and maybe falling rocks. Dangerous, I was gunna avoid it. The other is around the base. It’s a long trip, treacherous terrain, and likely where other bandits hide out. I was collecting money to try and pay for safe passage. You’ll need at least a hundred coins for each stop, and maybe more if they’re greedy. Even after you get out from the mountain unless you take no breaks you won’t reach the city until the afternoon, or even night. So you got all the night monsters to contend with too.”

Dirk seemed depressed for some reason as he laid his head on the table. “And to think, I thought I could make it to Gransys all on my lonesome. What a joke.”
“Ah well... Honestly, I wasn’t too sure about the trip to Gransys. It’s pretty far ya know? And even if I did go well... What’s a man like me to do there, if not ply what skills he has, nefarious as they are?” Dirk took a bite out of the fish on the toast before washing it down with an ale. “Like that old man Yerro said, chances are I would’ve just resorted to stealing in the big city. And unlike here, stealing in the city means a stay in the dungeons at best, or a public lynching at worse.” A few more bites and the young man was finished, taking his time to drink his ale.

“Besides, barely any of it truly mines. Just ill-gotten gains from my past life. Suppose you could at least return a few of the tools, though admittedly they’re so dinged up now Iola would likely chew me out for how I mistreated them. The rest are just camping supplies and a few trinkets. Not much but... Now they’re yours.”
The girl came over eagerly. "Sea Biscuits with Lemongrass, and a slop... Okay! I'll bring back your money soon!" The girl left to go rely the orders, leaving Dirk with you. For a while things quieten down as people left the alehouse, so only the sound of the kitchen cooking could be heard. But soon Dirk spoke up. "Um... Thanks for listening to me. You're a good person. I um... I don't really have all that much, at least on me, but outside of town, just a little bit of ways to the north I have a small camp. Has most of the stuff I managed to find or... Stole. Look for the big tree growing between two rocks. My stuff is in that tree. Feel free to have it." Dirk says quietly to you. Surprisingly soon, the food would be done. One medium sized bowl of soup made with a fish-based broth, grains, and other bits of meat like crab or trout and veggies like carrots and potatoes. The Fish and Bread looked like a fried fish fillet served on top of a slice of toasted bread. Dirk's ale was served in a clay stein and had a brown-green coloration to it. The girl also left the change for you on the counter, four copper coins.

"Ah, food's here. That was fast. Cheers."
Dirk took a seat at a lone table, just enough space for three others if they sat around. Toi himself said he wasn't too hungry and would wait outside. There was a single board on the table with a list of food and drinks, a menu of sorts. It was fairly small; only five dishes and six drinks. Dirk looked over the menu and seemed to be struggling to read it. "I'll have... The... Fish. Fried fish on bread. And an ale." He passed the menu over to you. Though the writing was somewhat poor, you could make out the words easily enough. From cheapest to most expensive was the Daily Soup (2 Coppers), Fried Fish and Bread (4 Coppers), Broiled Prawns and Corn (3 Silvers), Salted Crab (8 Silvers), and finally Stuffed Seafood (1 Gold). As for drinks there was Rye Beer (1 Copper), Harspud Milk (4 Copper), Herb Ale (1 Silver), Cloudwine (3 Silver), White Wine (7 Silver), and Spring Water (1 Gold). A young girl, younger than you, seemed to be serving as the waitress to both take orders, clean tables, and serve food.
Toi pointed over towards a shop near Yerro. "Inez's Alehouse is just down there. Her food's good, even if her drinks are watered down. I'd recommend the stuffed seafood. It's pricey but damn is it good." Sensing that perhaps they were going to go there, Toi leads the way. Many people were leaving back to work now so it wasn't getting too crowded either. People were already leaving the alehouse though the kitchen was also still busy, so they could order food if they wish.
Dirk just looked out towards the ocean still deep in thought. “I wasn’t really going anywhere. I was thinking about going to the temple but I was never really religious.” He signed as he picked up a pebble and tossed it over towards the beach, where the stone sunk into the sands. “I was just on break, but I guess I should head back to work soon.” But then as Dirk stood up his stomach grumbles. He looked away embarrassed.”... Forgot to get lunch.”
This place was weird, no doubt about it. Gren knew it could be quirky but this place... It almost felt dangerous. There was no denying that a lot of these pokemon were strong, stronger than him, or anyone else he's known before. But damn if they don't seem too unhinged. He didn't 100% agree with the gibble, but he wasn't entirely wrong either. Gren had hoped maybe this place was going to be more stable. If the guild was suppose to catch bad guys with crazies like this in charge, who knows what sort of jobs they might send them. Maybe they'll have to go stick up an orphanage or something, Gren didn't want to put himself in that position.

Still he was already in too deep. Best thing for them to do now was to split and figure stuff out, so Gren went over to the gibble and nudged him on the side, whispering. "Yeah I think this place might be too weird. We should go. Quickly." Before anyone could rope him into any crazy stuff, Gren spoke loudly and backed towards the door. "Right okay sooooooo we'll just be outside doing mission stuff then, now that we're members and all. Let's go guys, figure out where to go from here."
"But could I... So many people died, because I didn't do anything. Even he... Even that man who I called my father, he told me that... That the guiltiest men aren't the ones who commit the sin, but the ones who allowed it." At this point the young man was breathing hard trying to stay calm, failing to do so, shaking as he hugged him. He seemed to resist at first but it was mostly out of pride, and once that was gone he allows you to hold him. "I failed him, and everyone he hurt! And... And I don't know if I can do that again. If I can stand up to anyone. I mean when Iola was bossing me around I... I was tempted to just ignore her. Make the run for it. Gods, they didn't even bother closing the gate after they took the chains off of me! I could've been a free man in a minute. But I didn't. I was whipped and I know it. I was barely surviving out there on my own. Can't make fire without wood, can't get firewood without an axe, can't cook food without a fire. Hell I can't even hunt rabbits without any arrows. I can't... I can't do anything."

The young man continued to cry and rant for the next few minutes. People tried to gawk but Toi made sure to make them move on, leave him to speak his feelings. About thirty minutes would pass as the boy just told his story to you about his life, the things he wanted to do but what really happened, and of course his name. His name was Dirk, after the fighting knife since he was so small but scrappy. He remenised about the good times where he and his clan fought off three tribes of goblins who were going to attack the city of Gransys, and how he had helped his battle brothers take down a cyclops, with his arrow being the one to take out it's eye. But then he told you horrible things about what his clan had done, not just robbing people, but kidnapping the for ransom or... Pleasure. Even Dirk was terrified at what had happened, but was more terrified at what would happen if he had tried to stop them. He still remembers how the girls looked at him with both fear, thinking that he was going to hurt them, but also bleak hope that maybe he would save them. But he never did.

Eventually the tears would stop, as did the words. Dirk was just silent. His eyes were read and his cheeks stained with tears. He seemed defeated, yet at the same time it seemed like a great weight had been lifted from his shoulders too. "I... Just don't know how you come back from that. Everyone happened so fast but at the same time I saw it coming. I wanna believe I can be redeemed, I really do but... I can't... What could I do that could ever fix that? How many boxes and bags do I need to carry to justify the lives I took?" He let out a mirthless chuckle. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to burden you with my pathetic tale. I know you cannot help me, that this is something I need to handle myself. To get over it. But... Thank you for at least giving me this chance to tell someone about me. I guess I can take some solace that my tale has been told."
