Acting before thinking, saying whatever is on his mind, and being an overall slut for nature(and in general), are Mateo's staples. He's one to overshare when he is under any sort of stress or pressure, or any day really. Catch him in a bad mood he'll tell you he's as mad as that one night his neighbors kept banging and he had an exam to take that morning. Catch him in a good mood, and he'll tell you how happy he is by telling you he was as happy as when he got a passing grade in said exam.

Mateo doesn't take many things seriously, he's a drifting sort of guy. Easily pleased, and easily amused. Some may say he's not the brightest of the bunch, but he is part of the bunch. And for that, he should get a participation medal. Still, he has a heart of gold. Always trying to help and understanding to others.

𓇣 History

Originally from New York, New York Mateo's mother moved the two of them to Westpoint after a rather messy and scary divorce. Mateo didn't mind, the city had always been too loud and busy for him. He rather enjoyed the change of scenery. From skyscrapers, cat-sized rats, busy streets, and unimaginable traffic to the slow-paced and calm Westpont. It was hard to find peace in a city of metal and glass, and here he feels like home.

His mother works from home as a data analyst for a website based in New York, so they managed to buy a home in the nicer part of town. Mateo's grades are passable, as he says, "C's get degrees"! He's not very interested in college or any further education and isn't very interested in what he will do in the future. He'd rather figure it out as he goes. His mother has been encouraging him to do something with his art, but the more she says that the less he's inclined to do anything real with it.

In the past three years, Mateo found a love for nature. His room, and slowly the rest of the house, is becoming an inside jungle. He found his green finger after his mother gave him a plant to care for, claiming it would make him more responsible. Now it seems she may be regretting that gift seeing as the water bill has doubled. Still, she sees this as an improvement and demonstration that Mateo could be passionate about something. It has also inspired him to learn about nature itself. Now he has new things to rant about, and very interesting subjects such as his favorite; mushrooms and their effects.

Liliana never really learned to regulate anything within her. Any cry, protest, or whine was either hushed or slapped away. Instead, she learned to keep everything inside her, pack it into tiny pieces of paper, and allow the word of God to guide her. It did not help one bit when Liliana began to question everything around her, from why is the sky blue to why did God hate Job and why is Daddy staring at me?

She is currently trying to figure out who she is. The world outside of her church is so different, free, and unpredictable. She's tired of feeling guilty for simply existing and wishes to break free, by any means necessary.

✝ History

"Keep sweet." A phrase used by her father and said to her and her sisters. It meant to stay nice, meek, and obedient. So Liliana, as a good daughter, did just that. Following rules came easily for her, she did what she was told and was then rewarded by her parent's praise. Being the only time she was shown affection, Liliana continued to be sweet. She cleaned and cooked and cared for all of her younger siblings acting like a second mother. At times, as their only mother seeing as Dolores had a knack for drinking too much church wine during choir practices. Her parents drilled into her that it was her duty as a woman of God to be a caretaker because that is what she would always be. Her path was set in stone since the day she was conceived.

However, in the past two years, Liliana has begun to outwardly question everything. The friends she has managed to make in school have helped her explore sides of Liliana she did not know she had. Every day is a new discovery, a new reason to keep exploring and keep questioning. Her parents have noted the change, and while they are constantly trying to keep her in check, and keep her sweet, the more they push her down the more she resists.

Her father in particular has begun to question the way she dresses and has claimed she looks a lot more mature for her age. They have allowed Liliana to decorate her skin with fake tattoos and piercings, hoping that it would ease her. Unbeknown to them, she has begun to plan her out. Every penny she makes writing essays or doing assignments for the other students she hides it away. As soon as she receives her diploma, Liliana will sneak into her father's office, grab all of her important documents, and leave this forsaken town.
