Yeah, I just found it a little ironic but who knows? Maybe we won't all set the world ablaze with World War Two The Second Terrible War.
After receiving a warm welcome, diplomat Kaeroe Enuchi as announced that, with the approval of the Emperor, he has signed the Treaty of Sikea. "This is a great step for humanity," Kaeroe wrote proudly in his letter, "For we may have just ended any and all wars and conflicts between nation states. I see a future of peace and harmony awaiting not only Fuso, but everyone who lives on this beautiful earth."

Perhaps you've the Enuma Elish? Mesopotamian gods are like the epitome of lazy and egotistical. The mythos states they destroyed civilization with a storm because humanity, having been created to do the work the gods didn't want to do, made too much noise in their work and disturbed the sleeping gods.
Why would a God need slaves, though? Unless they're planning on forcing them to build a pyramid while they watch and laugh at their petty struggles, I don't see why having a mortal workforce is even necessary for a being of such power and ability.
