Naaaah, the ability to walk around in daylight is better imo since they become weak from it. It can get boring wandering around at night while being all-powerful.

Having to (and being able to) go out during the day gives a bit of vulnerability to characters :D
Zan tugged on his earring nervously, the small jolts of ripping pain more than enough to stave off the terrifying realisation that yes, he would be joining the mafia and yes, he was a candidate for leadership. How did something like that even happen? He knew he had the so-called 'family connections' to it, his parents had presumably died in service to the Moreno family and his grandmother was a friend of the leader herself; however, one needed only to look at his school records to see he was unsuitable.

Then again... he shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth. If someone out there thought he was strong enough to head such an organisation in the future, who was he to disagree?

Zan followed the younger boy whose name might have been Carlisle, though mishearing it was possible. He didn't seem very friendly, but the taller boy had seen people like that in the past – sometimes good people, beneath that prickly exterior. In the hall, he immediately noticed his own grandmother who was frantically mouthing, 'Tie, straighten your tie!' while drawing a line threateningly across her throat with one finger. He gulped, even if she was only mocking, and did so.

"Nonna," he greeted, bowing his head slightly before both the Drago matriarch and Brenda Moreno in that order. Family first, that was the priority. A gentle, easy-going smile curved across his face, as always.
Jun pinched the bridge of his nose at the volume of the boy -- were all kids so loud when they got excited? -- but smiled despite himself at his enthusiasm. He remembered what it was like to be that age, when fighting was the only good thing in the world to look forward to. He never really grew out of it, though. Spirits, if he was even half as bad as the kid, how did his uncle put up with him?

"Yeah, something like that," he said, heading towards the door and the open clearing behind the inn, surrounded by trees. He'd seen it through a window the previous night and thought, half-drunkenly, that it would be a good place to 'share his knowledge'. As they reached it, Jun inhaled deeply.

"Right, so! Show me what you can make with that bending of yours," he continued cheerily, clapping his hands.
Suyin silently signalled for her teammates to follow her as she snuck off the boat, looking left and right then ducking behind the flames created by the infantry. It was one thing to be a non-bender from the Fire Nation, but he father would never allow her to shy away from fire. The tunnels were close -- very close -- if they followed the traditional layout of an old fort. Around the back, past the stone outer wall and--
Pirates, eight of them, stood around the tight cavernous entrance to the backdoor of the fortress. They didn't look particularly important, mere cannon fodder; the useless put on guard duty just in case someone did try and sneak in. Well, this was going to be fun, she thought, looking towards Sen and Lee.
Siobhan swore she was yawning the whole lesson through. What was so special about lumos of all things? It was hardly worth a full lesson on it. Snape's dark eyes constant flickered back to Kyle and her as they pointedly looked away from each other. Nothing much to say after they had set a meeting point. As the lesson ended, he swooped over to them after setting an essay on uses of the spell they had learned for after the weekend. "Remember Mr. McCarthy, Miss MacFusty," he drawled. "Detention, six o'clock. Do not be late."

The Gryffindor glanced at Kyle for only a moment as she wandered out the door towards her next class, History of Magic. She couldn't wait until after lunch, when they could meet up stealthily. It was like being a spy, she thought. Interesting.
I'll go as a family head if you don't mind? I have one old one I can adapt from a RP that flaked.
Want to take the female officer as a minor side character + one other of your choosing?

I'll take Sen and Lee if so, though they're more NPCs than characters. ^.^
"Gaaagh-- what in the name of Agni-- KID!"

Jun threw himself out of bed, water dripping from his hair as his shoulders shook from the cold and the shock of such a rude awakening. "I swear, I can and will stab you," he threatened, reaching for his blade only to realise it was resting to the side of his bed. It certainly lessened the affect as he had to lurch over and grab it protectively. Why had he promised to teach the brat again?

Oh, yeah. Earthbender.

The swordsman glared at the kid, drying his hair on the bed sheets and thanking all the spirits he knew that it didn't soak his vest too much. "Y'know, I did get you into the rebellion. Best thing for you to do is some hands-on danger. It's how I learned." He grinned evilly.
"Absolutely! I need the best of the best..." Suyin twirled a finger around her hair as she contemplated which soldiers she would need. The lady officer was the best when it came to fighting -- a prodigy -- but she needed others. "Can you find Sen, Lee and someone else of your choosing?" The general's daughter knew the first two as her most loyal soldiers, young enough to not get in her way. Sen was a chi-blocker, if a little flighty, and Lee was a general good-guy sell-sword who had pledged his life in his father's service.

Suyin listened out to her brother, the water bender giving out orders with an inkling of pride that chimed in her heart. The soldiers would listen to her but who wanted mindless drones? A strike team like the one she was preparing was not only much easier to control but safer, too. Fewer traitors.

Turning towards the female officer again (whose name she admittedly forgot), Suyin barked once more, "At once! We're going to be at the beach very soon!"
She's not the sharpest tool in the shed x)
Siobhan crossed her arms and stared as coldly as she could at Kyle before dipping her head ever so slightly into an imperceptible nod of recognition. It took everything she had to suppress her grin, knowing that Kyle was in the same boat. The Gryffindor's essay was already out on the desk which, had it been in normal handwriting would have covered three quarters of the required length at most; however, her massive cursive writing (neat, but monstrous at the same time) could have been read from the other side of the classroom.

The essays piled up down on their desk, and while Snape had his back turned to the class, she nudged Kyle's foot and raised an eyebrow all without looking at him. She continued by tapping the desk and drawing a question mark on the edge of her notebook -- instinctive girl code. She hoped the Slytherin understood. Why did Snape make him sit there?

The professor's lesson was to be another practical one, this time on the wand-lighting charm, lumos. This time, Siobhan had no doubt she could perform the spell; her mother had taught her it during the summer.
