the worst beer

the best beer (partly because I don't have to drink five to get a buzz -- but it's fucking good despite the high content)

the best for your money (any Sam Adams seasonal brew will do -- they're made well and taste great without breaking your bank. That Chimay runs you about $5 per bottle)

FOR THE BEST BEER EXPERIENCE, visit your local brewery (you have one) and get a flight or two. Learn what you like by trying all kinds of handmade varieties, and then dial in your future selections until you've found your niche. My mother drinks a weizenbock shandy, I like a variety (but generally dark, and I have a tongue for distinctive flavors like coffee or blueberry (yes, there's such a thing as blueberry beer)). Of course you'll drink a chile beer or two, but sooner or later you learn what to look for.

They have changed. My brother has a job and he's only 15, but even a lot of people around here don't realize that it is indeed legal to work under the age of 16, probably because it's just really uncommon since people don't often hire anyone younger than 16 for a variety of reasons.

huh.

Well then I almost feel bad.

I was working for a tree service at age 14, and every summer thereafter until I graduated high school, and I now work there full time.

That's against labor laws in the state of New York, unless it's changed in the last ten years. Minimum age for gainful employment is 16 with a work permit, normally 18.

I get up at 3am to go on a two hour commute to the capital district area from the fucking mountains in upstate New York.

Lol. There are no fucking mountains within two hours of albany.

I dragged brush 80 yards across an open field in the hot sun today to reach the chipper, and then wheeled several wheelbarrow loads of blocks of wood to throw onto the back of the chip truck, cleaned up the mess of the trees we had taken down, and that was just what I did after my lunch at 11:30.

High temp was 89 today.... eh, you know what, I'll give it to you, that's unseasonably high for NYS. I'll admit it. When I heard 'hot sun' in upstate new york, I jumped to a different conclusion.

That was one job, and we completed 5 today, so I'd have to humbly disagree with you there.

Apparently your other four jobs were polished off by lunch. If we take your 3AM wakeup, throw in your 2 hour commute and let's call it 30 minutes of prep, subtract it from your 11:30 lunch break and divide by four, throw in a few minutes for transit, sounds like about four hours of work by my count. I did that in laundry and you don't hear me bitching about it. White kids, amirite?
I did that once!

On the way 'home' for the first time someone roadraged me, all the way back to my driveway. My first day in my first house I almost had to box a guy. Here's hoping your signing day went better than that!

Mexico beat Cameroon and US beat Ghana, both teams known for running the opposing team ragged. I thought they did well and hopefully it'll give them the boost they need. I was surprised Mexico tied Brazil and from what my husband told me, the refs seemed to be favoring Brazil with calls.

Not as egregiously as they were in the Brazil-Croatia game. If anything the refs were slightly favoring Brazil with no-calls, which, let's be honest, that's about as much as you can expect out of a ref. It wasn't bad though. Flops went unrewarded 9 times out of 10.

He's out of America?! Holy crap, he's been there a long time. We haven't been following it much since we moved and didn't have cable. I hope Santos Laguna picks him up, that's my husband's favorite team.E: Of course now, he might get picked up by some Euro league.

We've been saying that about Dempsey for years. CONCACAF, and players from the whole hemisphere really, is/are not respected.... but we seem to be making an impression this time around. Who knows. Damn if that wasn't an impressive show, but it's still only one game. My take-away is that Brazil (hometeam and favorite to win) very nearly lost to the Dos-a-Ceros, and that means anybody can win.

I suppose they could come to a nil-nil draw and that would work for me.
