Now the contest between the two took a turn. No longer a race, there was only the waiting and the creeping cold. The avalanche poured by, taking only a few moments to move further down the mountain, but where the snow settled it settled as hard as concrete. Anyone caught beneath would be almost certain to freeze.

The King of Goats had been relatively unscathed, hunkered behind his rocky fortress with the foresight to seek suitable cover. He wondered if his foe had tried to replicate his actions, if he had taken cover behind one of the boulders closer to the middle of the avalanche it would have been swept away and likely killed him. There hadn’t been an avalanche that powerful in nigh on a decade, it seemed the mountain was pulling out all her stops for this new challenger. Interesting.

Havardr was fairly certain the race was no longer on, seeing as how his competition was probably dead. Regardless, he set off, watching the snow dotting the mountain far more carefully. If the avalanche had any positive effects it took the edge of the mountainside, levelling the terrain just enough so that it wasn’t quite a vertical climb. That part was coming though, the last leg as it were, he hated it.

Striding through the teeth of a blizzard, Havardr hardly felt the cold, but if his foe had to remain stationary to survive the avalanche the cold would settle in his blood. It was going to be tough going from here to the fourth waystone.
I think you may have misunderstood the effect hitting the water tendril with the staff had. I used the word 'wrap' in the same way you may 'wrap' a baseball bat round someone's head, as in to hit something so hard the weapon bends at the point of contact and crashes around. That's why I then said the tendril was coming in from behind her (because it had about six feet of extra water to work with, that extra water wrapped around the staff and crashed into her back.)

It isn't literally wrapping around the staff like a whip.
I suppose so, but it's better sometimes to be able to analyse a situation in minute detail for a day or two and then have your character come up with the best possible solution. They've done it in seconds and that's why they're amazing tacticians, while you get the luxury of time to think of the best idea.

It's sort of like playing chess with very long pauses, anyone can be pretty good in those circumstances.
It seems to be a feature of my fights with Evvie that my characters are standing back trying to manipulate her into the coup de grace.

You need to make a master tactician at some point and just shoot my character to get some revenge for Evvie.
Evvie made a commendable effort to defend herself from the tendril of water, but it was evident that she had little experience with fighting someone like Anna. Unsurprisingly, as the tendril of water made contact with her hastily risen staff, it bent. The remaining six feet or so of water that had protruded past her wrapped around the staff, forming a hook shape, with the likely effect of cleaving into the top of her spine from behind instead, with moderately less momentum. The flexibility of water coupled with Anna’s deadly ability to harden it at will was a dangerous combination, as the dragon-kin was about to find out.

Now Evvie was for all intents and purposes surrounded by Anna’s tendrils, with one still rapidly approaching from the front and the immediate threat of the after-effects of the original attack still posing some threat. Evvie may still choose to breathe fire to negate the momentum of the attack heading towards her, though it would be less effective than usual as it moved through the earth rather than the air.

If Evvie was struck by the tendril from behind, she would be unlucky to be seriously injured due to her efforts with the staff. However, it would be a dangerous set-up as she would likely be off balance and pushed forward, directly into what would then be the second tendrils path towards her stomach.
I was just attempting to re-assure someone I thought might be dissuaded from joining by pointing out the character was probably going to be edited.

I'm not going to argue with the unsolicited advice comment, though I was under the impression that was what the transparency model you were going for was about, I was obviously wrong.

Even if adjustments/edits are made, we're still in for a shitstorm...literally. xD

Seems like a pretty standard wind elementalist to me, though somewhat above the tier of most of the characters here.

Pretty amusing that the weaknesses aren't stated, they might as well be non-existent, as it basically gives you complete control whether you let something someone does influence your power or exploit whatever weaknesses may exist. It's essentially concealing any limitations to powers OOC, which is hilarious. That would be like me not giving someone enough information about my character's weapons so they wouldn't have the slightest idea how their character -could- fight against them.

Hopefully Innue will at least request the list of weaknesses to stop meta-gaming, but we'll see.

Oh shit, I think we all just lost...and I haven't even posted my character yet. :|

Eh? That character is broken, it has at least two absolute defensive powers from what I read, you aren't allowed absolutes in the Arena.

I'm sure Innue will adjust it.
Not even gonna lie. Didn't expect you to actually do it. But you did.

A damn avalanche.

Shit. I hate snow.

If this was T1 that avalanche would have like five charges.
As they closed in on the third waystone, Kei’Taro passing it before the King by a significant margin, the rumbling of the mountain had reached a fever pitch. The Goat knew what this meant, and he had been counting out the minutes that passed before each shake, gauging how long it was before the break point of their race.

The blizzard had picked up again at this point, obscuring Kei’Taro from view as he ploughed on ahead. However, the Goat was not worried about his progress, though he did fear somewhat for his life. Taking advantage of his intimate knowledge of the Mountain, the goat had already began moving at a diagonal, judging the tremors carefully. With a few leaps and bounds he set himself behind a favourite shield of his, a large rock set at a diagonal which was favourable to the valley of snow which they had been climbing.

Then, all he had to do was wait. Before long the rumbling was growing into a great cascade of sound and the snow began moving up above Kei’Taro. The avalanche struck with little warning, huge volumes of snow crashing down towards the climber as he made impressive distance up the mountain. It was a shame, Havardr thought to himself, believing his challenger was almost certain to die in the wave of white death.

The snow hit Havadr’s shelter and crossed past him, luckily he had already moved away from the centre of the fast-moving snow, and so only a fraction of the avalanche’s force hit his shelter and deflected away, heading further down. He would have no choice but to wait it out however, or risk being caught in the snow’s crushing embrace himself.
