Accepted. Though youre onna have to come up with a reason as to why a well paid gun dealer is living in the slums. Unless he just visits often. :p
Name: Dylan Moore
Age: 25
Gender: Male

Sexuality: Straight
Race: Caucasian
Position: Male prostitute

Personality: Dylan is a man of denial. He'll swear up and down that everything is just fine, just to spare those around him the trouble of fixing his messes. He means well, but he often does his own self more harm than good. He's not the brightest tool in the shed, and he's well aware of that. Having been told that his own sense of judgement sucks, he just let's his 'friends' make all his decisions for him. This has led to him being easily manipulated, used, and exploited. Possibly the most frustrating part of his personality is his sheer apathy towards his dismal situation. He doesn't care that the people he trusts use him on a day to day basis. He doesn't care that he's living a hollow existence. He doesn't care what happens to him. As long as he can take his happy pills and pretend everything is okay, that everyone is happy and that the world is sunshine and rainbows, he'll be forever dismally optimistic.

Appearance: Dylan is a tall and lanky man, standing at a staggering 6'6". He could do with a little weight gain; his constant intake of drug cocktail have taken a toll on his body. The picture shown is Dylan on a good day. His naturally curly, brown hair is typically limp and bedraggled. He doesn't take very good care of himself. His brown eyes are akin to a sad hound dog, coupled with a smile that hides tries to hide them. His skin is fair..

History: Dylan grew up with a rather unsavory parental situation. His father was in prison for the majority of Dylan's childhood, and had no interest in seeing him once he got out. Dylan's mother would rather drink with her friends than take care of him. His education was spotty. He went to a public school on one of the shadier sides of town, where the teachers feared the students and would rather pass them with false grades then have them return to their class. Dylan was never a favorite among the faculty.

Having grown up around drugs and alcohol, it wasn't hard for him to get into it. By the age 16, he'd tried most things the dealers of the city had to offer. He knew most of them on a first name basis. Being the naive and easy going guy he was, it was only a matter of time before someone decided to take advantage of him. This came in the form of a couple of 'friends'. They gained his trust by hooking him up with good dealers, then slowly isolated him from his other friends.

By the time Dylan was out of highschool, these two girls had him eating out of their hands. He never bothered looking for any jobs; they promised they already had something set up for him. They informed him of an middle aged widow down the block from them that was looking for some guy to get with during the night, no strings attached, just collect the money when they're through. Dylan had no real interest in the offer, but they pressured him into it by bribing him with drugs and a share of the money.

One woman became two. Two became five. Soon, Dylan was being rented out to every lonely female in the city. His cut of the money slowly dwindled until he was being paid almost exclusively with drugs. His two pimpettes had a whole system going: keep Dylan so doped up that he would do just about anything, take the money he made and give him cheap drugs in return, and keep expanding their clientele. Almost everything Dylan has said he wouldn't do (kinks, sexual roleplaying, degrading himself), he has been connived into doing. He only has one line he refuses to cross: he won't do males.

No longer accepting!

2041. Calson City is the New York of the midlands. It's got shopping, high rises, fine dining, and some of the richest citizens the US has to offer. But that's just the north side. Right across the river, the south side, the city has fallen into disrepair. The slums, they call it. Parents warn their children never to go across Hartbrook Bridge, because the undesirables on the other side might snatch them away. Gangs, drug dealers, criminals, mentally ill hobos, you name it.

Life in the slums isn't easy. You have to keep looking over your shoulder. Rival gangs fight in the streets. The gunshots that plague the night don't always stop when the sun rises. One side of the city may be a sparkling picture of the future, but the other half is stuck in poverty and filth.

Character thread:
http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/37361/posts/ooc?page=1

Rules:

1: I expect casual standards. And by casual standards, I mean one large paragraph, or two, in each post. Decent grammar and spelling. If you fail to meet those standards, don't act shocked when I kick you out.

2: Saved for a future rule I will inevitably have to make about something.

3: I, personally, don't care if your characters do the vertical tango. But it you don't want to get banned, I would suggest doing it in PMs.

4: This is a future RP, but it isn't the Jetsons. I am foolishly giving you the option to make up whatever technology could have been invented in 27 years. Maybe they have cellphones that project images (hell, they prolly have that now), maybe they have cars that hover a foot off the ground (only available to those who shit hundreds), maybe they have GPS shoes that you stand in and they take you where ever you wanna go (maybe that one's kinda dumb but you get the point.)

5: Upon acceptance, post your character sheet in this thread: http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/37361/posts/ooc?page=1

6: Do not post anything but your character sheet in that thread.

See, the great thing about a sandbox RP is that all that stuff can happen. One character might get in trouble with a gang, and the other have to bail him out. Another character might have trouble with an abusive spouse, and someone else lends them a hand. ect
I like the idea of a future setting too, but I don't want that to consume the whole RP. The RP, for the most part, is about the day to day struggles of these lower class people, not fighting the government or whoever. I just don't want people to get that idea.

It wouldn't be a dystopian RP because for the upper class citizens, life would be perfectly fine. It really only sucks for the 'undesirables".

But yeah, a future setting could work.

What does everyone want out of this? Do you guys like the idea of a slightly futuristic city that's divided between the upper and lower class? The lower class being somewhat suppressed?

Do you want a modern day RP?

Any other ideas?
SHUT THE FUCK UP A NO ONE WANTS YOU TO JOIN

Let's get some more people and then see what they want to do first.
A slice of life type RP, but with a group of people who live in the slums of the big city. Drug addicts, gang members, criminals, prostitutes, hobos, or just some guy trying to get by. They are brought together by the street they live on. Some live in the crappy apartments across the way, some live in one of the crack houses or shacks, or some even live in the gutter. They found a sort of common bound that helps them though the hardships of life.

Anyone interested?
