Laughter and excited hoots sounded across the dusty plain. The sound of hoofbeats, thunderous on the cracked, dry ground, rumbled along the railroad. Two young men were racing neck and neck, their small but fleet horses just as excited as they were. One of the men rode with only a harness, his back arched slightly as he watched the ground ahead of him for any holes or rocks. The man riding next to him, almost close enough to bump his foot, rode without a saddle or harness, his hands gripping the white mane of the Arabian stallion he was egging to go faster. The white horse took a lead, just barely in front of the other.

The cloud of dust being kicked up behind them was rather impressive. It was even more so when they came to a sudden stop upon reaching the switchyard. One of the brothers called out for victory.

"I told you my Adjum was the fastest, brother. I don't know why you will never believe me," He said, the biggest shit eating grin on his face. Kadir gave the horse an affectionate pat on the neck. His brother, Amid, turned his horse around and began a slow walk back towards town.

"You wouldn't have gotten ahead of me if you hadn't cheated," He said. His horse, a bay colored stallion, huffed heavily. Kadir came up alongside him, his devil of a horse still somehow managing to look lively.

"I didn't cheat. I wouldn't have gotten a head start if you were just a little quicker. You and your horse are slow."

The brothers had been on a slow ride around the ranch on their favorite horses when Kadir had challenged his brother to a race. He had promptly sped off, leaving Amid to realize what had happened. And of course, he couldn't turn down a challenge. Amid could only assume their stable hand had no idea where they were.

The ranch was back in sight within only a few minutes. The landscape being what it was, it was hard to hide such a large complex. By the time the brothers arrived home, their horses were cooled down enough to have some water and let rest. Amid went right back to work; going inside to sort out some papers from recent sales. Kadir, however, apparently wasn't in the mood to stay still.

He wandered into the kitchen and messed around in there for a while, then slunk into the den to pretend to busy himself with a book. Amid sighed under his breath as he listened to his brothers' boots wander across the wooden floor. He counted the second in his head until he knew Kadir would come to pester him. His brother never failed.

"Amid?" Kadir appeared in the doorway, eating a piece of toast, from what Amid could tell. "What do you say we go to the saloon?"

"Bored already?" Amid didn't look up from his work. He knew his brother couldn't help it. They'd finished their chores that morning, and they didn't have any meetings planned. He had already known Kadir would be pestering him for some form of entertainment today. The man in the doorway remained silent. Crumbs from his toast were gathering on the floor at his feet.

Amid closed his records book and looked up, his thoughts portrayed in his eyes. "I did all my chores already!" Kadir said in his defense, "There's nothing else to do! Come on Amid." Amid sighed and stood up, grabbed his billfold from the desk. Kadir smiled in victory once more.

The two took a different set of horses into town; the lazy bastards needed excise anyway. Their stable hand was left in charge of the ranch until they returned. It wasn't a long trip to town. Just long enough for them to gossip a bit about a strange buyer they'd had the other day. Upon entering the town, the brothers found themselves switching to English to talk. For whatever reason, the people around here didn't seem to like other languages being spoken. They always thought that they were the topic of the two's conversation. Amid only wished he could be that arrogant.

The saloon was busy with their regular story telling contest. Amid and Kadir slipped in and sat towards the middle. Kadir, who was probably the better speaker of the two of them, ordered their drinks while Amid looked at the faces surrounding them. He didn't know a whole lot of people in town, but a group of men towards the back caught his eye as being not from around here. He didn't pay them much attention though. He turned back to the stage to listen to whoever was up there.
Names: Amid and Kadir Karzai
Ages: 27
Genders: Male
Occupation: Horse salesmen?

Personalities: Amid and Kadir are twins. They have been together their whole lives, and as such, their personalities are very similar. They both have similar interest and goals. They're both young and eager to do something that they think matters.

However, the brothers vary in their own little ways.

Amid takes up the role of big brother. Possibly the smarter of the two, he takes pride in his ability to form strategies and plans. He has a certain foresight that his 'baby' brother lacks. Amid is less likely to take a risk, and more likely to sit back and think things through. He's often the cooler headed one of the two. He's a bit less emotional than his brother.

Kadir is the reckless one. Although not stupid reckless. He knows that, from watching his brother, strategy pays off. But while his brother plans, Kadir paces. He's a bit on the hyper active side, always wanting to move and do something. Sometimes, this comes as an advantage. Kadir's energy allows him to tame even the feistiest of stallions, and have the patience to do so.

Other: The Karzai twins were born in Afghanistan. Both speak English, but have fairly thick accents.

Height: 5'5"

Weight: Both are around 145 pounds.

Appearance: Amid and Kadir are identical twins, but it's easy enough to tell them apart. Both are of Arab nationality, with dark tan skin, dark brown hair, and dark brown eyes. They're both around 5'5" and have lean muscular builds. Their small stature is the butt of many jokes, but it pays off when riding small but fast Arabian horses. Both of the brothers have adopted the 'Wild West' fashion, ditching their robes for slacks, boots, and button up shirts.

Amid has a small scar on his left cheek, and wears his hair shorter than his brother. He can be seen wearing a brown coat, matching brown slacks, black boots, a cream colored button up shirt, and a hat.

Kadir has longer hair. His style of dress is a bit more unusual. He doesn't like the feel of the typical slacks and abrasive cotton, so he wears a loose buccaneer style shirt and flowy pants. This earns him a few odd looks and a couple jeers, but he's rich, so what does he care?

Weaponry: The Karzai brothers are no strangers to horse thieves. They've thwarted several efforts against them. Both carry Colt shotguns and a revolver, along with pouches of ammo.

Skills: The brothers are both renown horsemen. They offer riding skills, along with veterinary care.

Although they both are short of stature, the boys are much stronger than they look. They are good hand-to-hand fighters, often proving so after a long night at the bar goes south.

Flaws: Neither of them are too good with their aim, hence why they chose to carry shotguns. Although they've practiced a bit more upon reaching the rough west, neither of the brothers were taught how to handle a gun before they left Afghanistan.

Literally nobody can understand their accent.

History: The brothers were born in a small village in Afghanistan. For most of their childhood, their country was at war with the British. They were kept on a remote farm with their father and mother for their own protection. Their father, a well known horse breeder, took this opportunity to teach the boys any and everything about horses.

By the time the boys were teenagers, they were experts themselves. Their father, suffering from a bad back due a long life of labor, would send the boys out to sell horses to the army. They made good money doing this, and were allowed to pocket a generous portion to do with what they please. Luckily, the boys were smart enough to save it.

After their father passed away, their mother turned the farm over to them. The brothers had heard of the horse business in America; how those who sold fine Arabian horses made hundreds. They made a plan to save up a bunch of money and move their business there to be rich.

It took a few years to save up enough money, between keeping up the farm and taking care of their aging mother. By the time their mother passed, the brothers were ready to set sail. They made port in California, and drove their horses inland. They sold many off and kept the money to start their own farm. Upon reaching the border, just outside of Soursprings, they decided that this was a good place to set up shop.

The two brothers have been running their horse farm for three years now, and have already made enough money to retire on. Their horses are widely known as the fastest and most durable in the west.
Shrug. I was thinking of killing off the 'older' brother, forcing the more cocky and immature brother to do some growing up. But I commit to nothing.
Yup. I'm kind of awful like that =P

@Metronome I'm not really big on having someone play two characters and the cast for this RP is getting pretty huge and I want to cut off applying to join soon.

An idea I have that involves your sheet is that the twins would be characters at the start, but then one of them dies during the outlaws mischief in Soursprings. I'd let you pick which one dies, the other you control as your main character. Also gives the survivor a huge revenge angle. Thoughts on that?

I wouldn't be opposed, as I was already considering that angle. Perhaps not in the beginning of the RP though. I had plans to develop them both a little before doing anything too vicious.

I have a rough idea in my head for a 1x1 that involves two soldiers. One is a young lieutenant, put in charge of keeping the newest recruits alive during this war. The other is a woman who, for whatever reason, is dressing as a young soldier to fight. Of course, this isn't legal, and this sort of trickery could be punishable by death. It's also very hard to keep up this rouse when you eat, live, sleep, and fight with a large platoon of men.

Now, for the war itself, I'm open for ideas. I don't mind there being fantasy elements. I'm also game for a realistic RP. I would like help coming up with an idea for the plot. Who are they fighting and why?

As for a partner, I'm looking for someone who can meet these requirements:

18 or older
Can put up with my weird work schedule
Is able to put in at least one or two full paragraphs per post
Is able to come up with their own ideas and plot twists

PM me for interest.
"This is it, Marcy. This is our new life." Sasha spoke as he looked around the station. They had a map with a big red circle marking their destination. As they drew closer, the station became noticeably dirtier.

"It's...dirty," Marcy said, curling her lip at a half full food container that had been tossed on the ground. She was pretty sure there was something living in it.

"So is earth." Sasha drew a little closer to her as a group approached them, letting them past his broad shoulder without bumping into them. He really didn't want to draw any attention before they left this trash heap. "But here, we'll be free. No more homework, no more books."

"No more whitecoats' dirty looks?" Marcy gave a half hearted chuckle. Sasha smiled and looked up ahead of them. There were several ships parked, waiting to be boarded, but only one matched the description they were given.

"I think that's us up there," He pointed. As they approached, a group of four also made their way to the ship. One was some kind of lady-cat-dog thing, one was a hellish houseplant, one was piss drunk, and the other was boring. Sasha straightened out of his slouch as they approached, shifting the luggage bag hanging on his shoulders a little better. They're weapons would be arriving with the rest of the supplies, and Sasha had never felt more naked. All he had was a small pistol on his hip should things go south.
I once ran a space ship RP where the ship was named The Jubilee. Maybe you could use that? Or something similar, like The Revelry.
I didn't see the name of the ship anywhere. I'll change it.
