Orren nodded and entered the information into his register. "That'll be $4.48," he said. He then went to go make the fresh espresso. The smell was bitter and strong, and it honestly made him want another drink himself. Maybe he would make one before he got off today.

The espresso machine roared as it produced the pitch black brew. Once it was done, the barista went about making the rest of the drink. He scooped the frothed milk over the top, making a thick foam layer and then snapping the plastic cap over the cup.

"Here you go, ma'am," He handed the drink over and gave her that classic minimum wage employee smile.
From what I read, no, not really.
This is a RP I may make in the near future, depending on how much interest it gets.
Long ago, the world we know was whole. We were ruled under one, just kingdom.
However, evil took root, and slowly tore everything apart.

Ruled under the mighty kingdom of Aeridith, our realm prospered. The high rulers of Aeridith, a council of powerful mages, protected us from those with sinister intent. Through their magic, our realm survived many battles with outside forces. It was fitting, then, that the one that fell us came from within.

Centuries ago, one of the trusted mages of Aeridith turned against the others. He rallied an army, promising more power under his single rule. After many years of war against his own kind, Aeridith fell, and our realm was no longer protected from him. It wouldn't be long before his evil and greed engulfed the entire world, and began moving on to others. As a last ditch effort, the last surviving mage of Aeridith split our realm in two, hiding the magic and evil that came with it away from our world. With her dying breath, the last mage used all of her magic to create a gem that would create a set of guardians for the purer realm, to ensure that the evil of the world now known as Veras could never take over there.

This realm would be called Earth. Earth would move forward from this event, forgetting that it ever happened. Our technology would advance, magic becoming a thing of fairy tales. Meanwhile, Veras would remain as it was: subjugated by an evil entity that drains the magic of its people, forbidding them to advance from the dark age it was left in.However, rumor has it that there may be hope. One mage of Aeridith, left suspended in time, is said to be hidden away somewhere within Veras. This spark of hope has inspired an entire rebel force to fight against their cruel ruler, causing war and uproar amid Veras. This chaos would be enough as it is, but after centuries of holding strong, the veil that separates the two realms now threatened to collapse. Portals, two way doors to either side, have begun to appear, seemingly at random, across the veil. These doorways allow the monster of Veras, and the people of Earth, to cross over, causing further mayhem. The guardians, having gone dormant after so many years of relative peace, must be chosen again to protect the veil, and the very realms themselves.

I don't know what Gate is, so I don't really know how to answer that :/

That sucks. Don't sweat it, though.

Orren shrugged. "Not very, I guess. Most people come here for coffee and free wifi. I think we get it in once every couple of months." Orren looked past the man, who was now just holding up the forming line behind him, and waved the next girl forward.

Thr door jingled as another worker came in. A young woman with dark hair sporting blue streaks brushed by the line and went back behind the counter.
"Hey Nikki," Orren greeted her with lackluster. The young woman offered no response. She went to clock in, then came over to open up the next register to split the line into two.

Orren turned back to the woman in front of him, unaffected by his coworker's cold shoulder. "What can I get you today?"
