The students were left to their own devices to find the school with the help of the map. At least the boat ride was free.

Mikkish took a look over his map. The school was at the far other end of the island. He could see that place later. He still had some cash in his pockets, enough for a few bus trips surely. Besides, this was his first time really being in a city, he wanted to enjoy it.

"Yo, Fin. Want to go check out some parts of the city before we go to the school?" He asked, planning to go on his tour anyway if Fin said no.

Being that it was still too early for the sun to be out (6am), city lights could be seen from the island. As they got closer, the city revealed itself to be more and more massive. Tall buildings stretched high into the sky. The city seemed to go on forever to either the right or left as they neared the docks.

For anyone who had been to New York City, this looked a lot like it. Mikkish had never been, but this was exactly how he imagined it might be.

He was amazed, even as the boat was being parked at the dock.

"As students, you will all get free maps of the city. The school as at the northernmost point." Called one crewman as another started handing out free maps (after picking himself back up from being knocked out of course).

Faintly, Mikkish could see what looked like the tops of mountains in the distance beyond the city. For a guy who hadn't seen much of the world, only the orphanage and the trailer park he was adopted to, this was exciting.

Just hope the swords and rifles donr flood the basement.

Nope

Its just hard to learn new magic style, depending on what you start with.

For example, a guy with physical buff would have an easier time learning healing (as they are both focused on the human body) than elemental magic. And its not just magic that effects how easily you learn different types of magic. Your character could learn physical buff more easily than, say conjuration because he knows how to box.

@Oni_ Accepted, though alchemy can do more than just create golems. Speaking of which, there will be healing potions, and other potions from video games, including XP potions (which are outlawed on the island). There are even super expensive temporary invincibility potions. Since there is no HP or MP system, the potions will do other things, that make sense, of course.

Btw, "weapon animation" makes me imagine the brooms from fantasia, only instead of brooms, its swords and rifles XD

So I'm guessing that as the rp advances we can not only increase our skill in the styles of magic we start out, but also learn new ones. Since the increased skill was already confirmed an I right about the learning part?

You will learn, but most will actually outside of class.

I will refer to fighting cults, gangs, and law enforcement (just a few examples of future enemies) as "extra credit.)

Explain some of what you were thinking he could do with holy magic (I think of healing magic and light magic when I read it). Maybe I could help you out.

Christian mages on the island use healing magic, physical buff, and elemental etc but think magic is a gift from their god.

But most high ups in the churches, the clergy, use dark magic, finding it fitting, as they don't think men were meant to know too much.
