"She wasn't looking for a knight. She was looking for a sword."

Roleplays:
When Royalty Collides - Inactive

"Don't sound so excited for it, Sapphira," he said with a chuckle.

“Sorry,” Sapphira replied to Jack. She was admittedly a bit amused by how easily he threw sarcasm back at her. Other than the occasional eye roll, she typically tried to refrain from being too “sassy” as her mother had called it. Some people are more easily offended, but Jack didn’t seem to be one of those people. Nevertheless, she would try her best to be well-mannered towards him.

She walked beside him as they headed towards the cafeteria. She had to slow down her long strides to match his more leisurely pace. She noted that they were similar in height, with him being only two inches taller than her 5’10” stature.

"What lead you to want to be a Guardian? Being an elf, you've probably been alive for far longer than I have, so how long did it take for you to decide you wanted to do it?" he asked.

“I was born into a long line of Guardians, so it is really all I know. Both my parents were Guardians, though my mother stopped going on missions when she was pregnant with me and thereafter. My mother homeschooled me and taught me the majority of what I know today. Given the way she raised me, I never really wanted to be anything but a Guardian,” Sapphira explained. Truthfully she felt a pang of sadness in her heart at talking about her parents in the past tense, though she was skilled at not showing the emotion outwardly. She didn’t think the sadness and anger from losing them would ever go away, no matter how long she lived. Instead of letting it destroy her, she worked hard to let it fuel her.

She gave him a grateful smile when he courteously opened the door for her. She walked through the doorway and let her gaze take in her new surroundings. She recognized some of the people, namely the red headed woman with dark magic and the telekinetic Asian man. Her gaze then landed on the Fitzroy Wolfpack seated in the back corner. She had barely entered the cafeteria, and they were already brazenly checking her out! Her eyes narrowed slightly, the characteristic sign that she was getting annoyed or feeling threatened. She returned her gaze to Jack before she had a chance to do anything uncivil. It was best that she not start a fight unless utterly necessary. @Nightfury Kat
I love Teen Wolf! It is full of action and interesting creatures.

The look the guys have when they see Sapphira's badass side for the first time. XD

I imagine her fighting style is like what you see in Marvel.

@arca9 I like him. Seems just the kind of guy Jack would like to be acquaintances with.

As does Seamus.

Oh no. Poor Sapphira. D:
This is certainly going to be interesting.
But the icing on the cake was watching the scared faces of the clueless newbies.

That literally made me lol!
"Guardian applicant," he repeated back with a low whistle. "I've met a few Guardians - none quite so attractive, but I'm sure you hear that a lot - and I have heard how dangerous the test is. That is quite the impressive task to undertake."

Sapphira rolled her eyes at his not so subtle comment on her attractiveness. Yes, I have heard it a lot, and it gets old fast. I am not here to impress anyone with my looks. I only want to impress the people who will make me into an official Guardian. She thought to herself. She would let his comment slide, seeing that he glanced over it so quickly and complimented her on her choice of becoming a Guardian.

After a momentary pause, he continued, "I'm Jack, by the way. I hope you don't find this overly forward, but - have you eaten anything yet? I skipped breakfast for going to orientation, and I was wondering if you would like to continue getting to know one another while we got something to eat. We might have some classes overlapping, and I like to get to know people I will be seeing on a regular basis. I hear the cafeteria has an extremely extensive selection of food."

“I’m Sapphira. And sure, why not,” she replied. In comparison to guys she has dealt with in the past, he was being rather polite. She wasn’t tempted to punch him in the face or body slam him to the ground, so that was a good sign. She didn’t see anything wrong with getting to know him further. Besides, she could use some friends around here. She gestured for him to lead the way. @Nightfury Kat
Oh, boy. I think my Fae genetics have just reeled in my first catch of the day. Sapphira sarcastically thought to herself as a glimmer of amusement passed through her eyes. She wasn’t blind to the fact that the characteristic ethereal beauty of most Fae had a way of entrancing people. As long as they kept their hands to themselves, didn’t spew out any perverted nonsense, and took no for an answer, she would treat them with as much respect as she did anyone else.

She maintained eye contact with the man while he spoke. It was one of many mannerisms that her mother had taught her was polite. “I’m interested to see what this year will hold. I can guarantee it will not be boring,” he stated before adding, “What are you studying?”

“I’m a Guardians applicant, so my focus is on anything extra I can learn from Gringore’s Guardian Training Program until I have the opportunity to take the test.” Sapphira replied to his question.

“Does it have anything to do with why you looked so serious looking around at the rest of the student body?”

Sapphira laughed softly, an unintentionally melodious sound. She inwardly cringed. Not exactly the sound of a warrior. “No, it did not. I don’t know how much you know about elves, apart from the obvious outer appearance.” She tucked her hair back to further reveal her pointed ears, emphasizing her point. “Elves can sense when someone has magic and identify what kind of magic it is. Being surrounded by so many magical beings, my power is working on overdrive. I was releasing some of the tension it had built up after ignoring it during orientation. There is quite a large variety of magic here. It’s astounding. There’s everything from power over nature, telekinesis, dark magic, water manipulation, and your ability to manipulate the weather,” she added. @Nightfury Kat
As more people filed out into the courtyard, Sapphira’s power attempted to tug her in different directions towards all of the unexplored sources of magic. However, she didn’t feel like indulging its relentless pursuit any longer. She was about to close her mind off to it when a particular sensation buzzed louder than the rest, making her muscles instinctively tense.

Dark magic. An unsettling feeling, an inborn reaction, always washed over her when she sensed darker forms of magic. Her Fae magic seemingly didn’t get along with dark magic. Truthfully, she hated the instinctive reaction, knowing full well that the type of magic one has does not define the intentions of the person. Any magic can be abused.

Her eyes landed on the source of the dark magic, a red haired woman walking across the courtyard to the Asian man with telekinesis. She could sense that the woman had multiple powers within the realm of what she knew as dark magic. Fortunately, the woman’s demeanor seemed nonthreatening at the moment. Sapphira relaxed, letting go of her sudden uneasiness. Holding onto tension only ended up causing her to react without thinking. While useful in combat, it’s simply embarrassing in any other setting. She didn’t feel like having to explain to someone why she just body slammed them to the ground.

She sensed someone coming up to her, an individual with power over weather. She shut her mind off to her power and turned to face a handsome man with black hair and indigo eyes. His smile was infectious, and she easily returned it with a friendly smile of her own. “That was quite the thing, huh? Excited for the year to come?” he stated.

It took little thought to come up with a response, “I am most certainly excited. The profession I have been training all my life for is just within my grasp. How about you?” @Nightfury Kat
