@Neziul I like that plan for our characters! Sounds good to have some kind of background in adventuring, and fits better for the character's level in my opinion. For me that's alright, cool case of wrong place at the wrong time but with good enough consequences.
@Neziul

I don't mind that idea, but I agree with CajunRobinHood that it may be beyond your abilities. But I like the idea of knowing there is a lich somewhere wrecking havoc.

For my character, I've been thinking a more classic idea: someone that grew up on the streets (that explains her way of fighting) getting some money from underground fighting and odd jobs as bodyguard or basic mercenary here and there. Sometime in the near past, she decided to dip her toes on adventuring, instead of messy jobs, and encountered the party she's travelling now with (I don't mind if it's her first proper adventure group, even first adventure, or only one that finally stuck after some tries)
Cool! I'll prepare a Character sheet and some background tomorrow morning (it's night here now), can you remind me which level are we supposed to be @CajunRobinHood?

Also, no problem about keeping OOC chat here @Neziul! I actually prefer it that way: we use discord for work, so having chats there is just another distraction
Oh, around once a week sounds good to me! I can usually respond 2 or 3 times a week, so can do more, but I don't mind waiting at all
Oh, I'm interested in this too! DnD player here, always interested in the Curse of Strahd but never got to play it though. I'd love to mix that love for DnD with all of the creative and writing aspect, so count me in!

"Oh, God, not these things again!" she complained as soon as the cloth was removed. She didn't have time to complain more, soon the cage was opening and the pixies were flying around, making a huge chaos and attacking everyone. Lauren sighed, standing up to better see her surroundings, and moving just enough to only have the wall at her back.

Seeing a group of the creatures going in her direction and to the other two girls, she tried a strategy that would allow her to get the complete group. "Ventus!" she casted, trapping the pixies in a very small version of a hurricane. It would only last a few seconds, but they were now grouped together, making it easier to attack all of them at once. "Depulso!" she completed, sending them to the other side of the room.

She could plan something fancier, maybe better to get rid of all of the pixies in the room, but she didn't want to get too much attention on the first day or try something complex to fail, mess it up and get laughed at by everyone. Instead, she kept with that simple way of going, sending the pixies out of harming range, grouping them when necessary, immobilising others, and casting a shield if needed. All basic spells, nothing too complex, but still good enough.

"Oh, no worries. At least you weren't an asshole about it" she smiled, noticing that the girl was surprised by having a pair of Slytherins be nice to her. Well, her parents did teach her that there was quite some power in having good friends, so she made a point of trying to be nice and friendly to everyone. Unless you really deserved rudeness, then you better be ready to suffer it all.

"Of course I'm ready" she responded to her housemate. "I'm only worried about the professor. She doesn't look like a bad teacher but... she looks like a strong one. I think this year will be hard, but in a good way" she said, already walking to try and get a seat right in the middle. She didn't like sitting in the first row, not liking the attention, but all the way to the back could be even worse: everyone knew that professor's kept an eye there too. She found a seat right in front of the other two girls, a good place, and judging by the professor's eyes... better to be far from her.

She got her book and things ready, not wanting to give the woman any reason to pay attention to the ginger, and waited patiently until they started. She was just a little turned in her seat, able to easily look back at the exchange students, but still able to keep complete attention on the class

Lauren was finally there, ready to the first day back in the school. As she was going to move, she heard some voices behind her, one of them sounding just like Hye-Jin, but she didn't have time to turn and say hi before someone bumped into her. She turned, ready to bear with some idiot that may have been running, but found something quite different. The girl looked like the exchange student, and she was saying sorry, so she chose to change her mind.
"Oh... No worries, really. Could have been worse" she said, smiling a little to reassure the girl. "But I wouldn't recommend you to walk around the castle without paying some attention. I'm pretty sure that the stairs are planning all of our demises" she joked, her need to get on well with everyone always present. And if this girl was talking with Hye-Jin, she already had far more points in her mind than most assholes around the school, so it was someone nice to have around. "Also, I'm Lauren. You are the exchange student, right? From... Castelobruxo?" she asked, the pronuntiation far less terrible than other English speakers, but still quite noticeable that it wasn't right. But she tried.

Oh, I like the idea of a villain!

Sorry! These days have been a mess, but I'm on it

The first night passed quickly enough, Lauren paying attention to First Years, directing them to their common room and trying not to smile at their antics and surprise. It was always nice to see some new people discover magic, her own memories also feeling like out of a fairy tale. At a decent time, she decided it was finally time to disappear, walking to her dorm silently not to gather more attention than necessary, she didn't have the energy to explain herself or keep that social, perfect and proper image. The early morning the next day would be tiring enough, better to be ready.

She woke up early, suppresing a groan, and moved to the showers before she could really think about it. It only took her a few minutes to be already on her way to the Great Hall, ready for breakfast and to start the day with DADA. She sat alone on the Slytherin table, barely a few students in the hall, and served herself some coffee and toast, while looking around. She noticed some of the exchange students, as they were probably early in case they got lost, but they left the Hall before she did. Clearly knowing her way after all these years, she took her time, taking a look at the textbook in between bites, trying to be ready.

She finished with just enough time to get to the class and still have some minutes to spare. She started walking with purpose, sending a few small smiles and nods to people she knew that she'd maybe see around. After some walking and far more waiting for the stairs as she wanted to, she was on the third floor, and she could finally see some of her classmates going to the room, the door finally visible but still closed, other students waiting there.
