Description

What you know of her is limited. Evyrless is a woman that keeps to herself, often tending not to meddle in other's affairs. Why she decided to meddle in yours isn't something she advertises in great detail. "To prove myself," would be her answer to anyone that asked. Many conversations with her are like this, ending in one or two short statements. When she does speak, she speaks highly of herself. Like a true Elf, some would say. She's secretive, possibly distrustful of the whole lot of you. It certainly doesn't help that hardly anyone knows that her homeland exists, with most people travelling no further than a few miles from the spot they were born in. Ainford, she calls it. She came alone with only the bare essentials of an adventurer and a pack stuffed full with widely assorted clothing. One piece in particular is a raven feather cowl, something she wears whenever possible and never lets anyone touch.

You've never seen her fight fair, she doesn't seem to believe in it. Always the underdog, she seems to use her ability to channel divine energy like a sleeve full of dirty tricks. One would expect that she would've made a great rogue, had a few key events in her life turned out differently. But for whatever reason, she seems content in restoring whatever balance that she can manage by helping those in need and ripping off those in power. And of course, like a good little cleric, she still hunts down the undead with a righteous fervor that could only be matched by a paladin of her caliber. Though, with a few undead of her own for good measure.

"The only cure for your wounds is death."

The world continued to spin in two different directions, a sensation that was quickly doing away with Rose's wits. For a moment her vision managed to focus on the scant figure of a young woman bent over a thin square of leather. She couldn't tell if it was a chair, her dizzied vision blurring the object offered to her, but there was only enough time to shift her own weight into the chair before she fell over. With a hasty swing of her body, Rose plopped into the chair, head thrown about as her balance ceased altogether.

The world split off far enough after such a rough sitting that it ceased to show any light at all. It was a moment until Rose pulled herself back into consciousness, not long enough to cause much alarm to anyone present aside from her savior. Rose pushed her spectacles in place to look up at the kindly woman she would come to know as Andrea through the messy veil her own hair had formed over her face.

"Why, thank you immensely," she said after collecting enough of her wits to speak. "Were I allowed to take the fall and break my glasses, I wouldn't be of much help in the investigation today. Not at all."

Another moment to regroup and Rose would conjure the presence of mind to introduce herself. "My name is Doctor Rose Branwen and I'm terribly sorry if my case of vertigo has inconvenienced you." She outstretched her hand toward Andrea, her wiry fingers still trembling from the narrowly avoided tumble.

Home Address (or where you might often be found): I run a laboratory and apothecary at home in a middle-class district at Comet-by-the-Sea. I spend nearly all of my time there and you may feel free to stop by at close to any time as I get hardly enough sleep.

Why are you filling out this application?
I've needed a break from my work, despite its upmost importance to get into the field. And to get away from money collectors that are after me for my previous less than lucrative business venture. (How was I to know the ill side-effects when I was only given 2 test subjects and a month to observe them?)

What do you know about the Tin Dragon Detective Agency?
That the Agency used to at the forefront of scientific achievement, especially in the field of magical substances. Such research has led to the medical advancements of our now scientifically enlightened age. My mother, Ravenna Branwen, used to work at the Agency before she became the principle medical researcher of her generation. I aim to do the same, unlike the ambitionless academy dwellers.

You're investigating the death of a young nobleman at his mansion. His wife tells you he had fallen down drunk after coming home from the pub. The butler tells you he'd never gone out, and simply dropped dead after his tea. The postman tells you he'd seen the young nobleman in an argument with a fairy earlier that day. What do you do next? Why? There is no wrong answer.
Assuming I was allowed an assistant, I would privately question each living party, instructing the assistant to observe any nervousness or impatience from the remaining two in a separate room during each round of questioning. The butler would be asked if the nobleman was having an affair and if he noticed that the postman might've been under narcotic influence when he answered the door. The wife would be asked if the butler has ever stolen from the house and if her husband had ever consorted with magical creatures. The postman would be asked who sent for the package and if they commonly see magical intervention such as this.

Any party observed as irritable or afraid outside of questioning were likely lying and would be questioned again in front of the other two. The others would offer any conflicting information regarding the prosecuted's answers.

The officer's son you're sworn to protect and your mother are both hanging from a cliff. You have time to save one before they fall. Which do you save?
The answer should be obvious. The greatest doctor of our time is capable of saving far more lives in the future than a child destined for authoratative law enforcement. It's simple mathematics.

What is your favorite tea?
Night tea: an old and rarely used recipe, which I have of course perfected, that yields fantastic results. An unfortunate side effect of overconsumption is female infertility. It's not quite unfortunate in my case, I haven't the time for mothering. The quality of the tea is well worth the loss.
