Bartholomew nodded at Gilbert's response, it being about what he expected. His patience would have to go just a bit longer. He shuffled into the kitchen, to see Eve waiting for them. His eyes locked back onto her, still jarred from her last comment. His stomach grumbled as he saw the food on the table, and made himself a sandwich as she continued to explain their current predicament. He wolfed down his food, dying apparently having taken a lot out of him. He did find it odd that Miss Lucas repeatedly said things in a a language none of them knew, apparently to Gilbert. Was she so blatant about keeping things hidden from them?

He listened as she explained the time loop, and put it together that this must be The Watch's power, unless they had some kind of insane technology from the future, but given the Emenedator's name, he favored this idea. He didn't quite understand what she meant by falling into the loop, but there were still more important things to worry about, as he was about to get the answer to the biggest thing on his mind since he got here. He nodded along, a frown across his face, his predictions coming true, at least partially. They were soldiers against these Destruere, whatever they were. The idea of something pure evil didn't exactly mesh with Bart's worldview, but that didn't really matter. If he was to believe the Eve, which was still in contention, then these things were diametrically opposed to the goals of human kind, and he'd rather humans keep living. That doesn't meant he was at all comfortable with the idea of killing something though, containment seemed more moral.

But as far as he could see the options, it was either die now, or die later, and as he'd already said, he didn't have any plans on dying again soon. Besides that, it was far to tantalizing, seeing the world, and all of time, and getting superpowers. The only major cause of concern was the feeling Miss Lucas described, of needing to help, sounded unnatural and weird, and he didn't at all like the idea of something messing with his mind. But maybe he could deal with that, it was better than dying for sure. He then watched in surprise as Evelina pulled out a large number of dice and rolled them all. Concern crossed his face when he saw the look she gave Andromeda, and his gaze followed over to her, before returning to Miss Lucas.

Bart gave a hum when she said she'd answer a question from each of them. This felt totally unfair, but he wasn't at all in a position to argue, he couldn't make her give him answers. He looked down at the table, and drummed his fingers on the table. He'd need to carefully consider what his question would be, and thought about her words. On the topic of nobody owing anybody anything, he supposed that applied to her as well. It seemed evident that he was not brought to life out of the goodness of Eve's heart, but rather because she wanted him to help her, and therefore, they should be on equal footing with each other. He'd truly take her words to heart.

Bart turned his attention back to Gill as Eve divided them all up. He was still a bit peckish, and so he grabbed a slice of bread, buttered it, and nibbled on it. He then felt the room suffer a massive drop in temperature and what sounded like a lighting bolt, making him shiver. "Is that normal around here?" He inquired, before eating the rest of his bread and standing up, crossing his arms to keep them warm. He then heard The Hat talking about a weather manipulator, and figured that one of his fellow paradoxes, or even maybe himself, must have done that. He stood up, and nodded, "I'm ready. You're um... The Hat right? Alicia said you decorated my room... Thank you." He said, perhaps a bit awkwardly, "I was just wondering though, how'd you know I'd want those things?" He was curious how much they knew about him, and knowing how they got that information could tell him that.

Adalene smiled warmly at the woman, and nodded, "Of course." Internally, she wondered why she couldn't be bothered to keep up on her own things, instead of relying on the community to bail her out. She always seemed to make up for it though, so Adalene didn't really have an issue with lending her a couple of Tide Pods. She closed the door behind her neighbor, and led them back through the kitchen, to the pantry. Her eyes quickly darted to the ceiling, checking for scorch marks from her encounter earlier, but returned to fetching her the detergent.

"Hell of a storm out there." She said idly. She loved a good summer storm, cooling things off and just refreshing the area in general. She was never really scared of the thunder as a child. Her father used to take her to the window and watch the rain and lightning with her. It was always more comforting and scaring because of that, bringing her pleasant memories of times gone by. As she reflected on this, her eyes scanned for her laundry pods, and she reached for them, and a plastic baggie, pulling them out and turning to face her neighbor. "Not that it bothers me though, I love 'em." She commented, popping open the top, and putting three pods in the bag. "Here you go, just return the favor when you can." She said kindly, holding the bag out for her to take.

Bart took a curious look down at the girl's wooden hand, and wondered how that had happened, but knew it would be horribly rude to ask. He nodded along with Sophia, before waving at James and cracked a smile at her response. "Well, I'm in no rush to die again either." He quietly agreed, before following her out to be shown the grounds. He gave a listen to Gilbert's initial words, and shrugged a little at there only being one bathroom, not really conscientious of how bad that could be, never having lived in a house with that many people at once. Bart's mind briefly wondered back to his apparent abilities Evelina assured him he had. He glanced around, reminded of Gilbert's transformation as a kind of way to set the scope for what powers could be, and thought how cool something like superspeed would be. Not because he was a runner, far from that actually, but the idea of never having to worry about not having enough time to do something. He did consider that his newfound biological immortality made that it a bit less useful, but then again, it would still be awesome in the first place.

Bart shook his head, trying to keep himself from getting too side tracked on the matter at hand. Bart followed along as they toured the grounds, taking note of the garage, wondering how often they got out and around. Eventually, they made way to the Oak, and Gilbert brought it back to that combative undertone he'd noticed over and over again. He gave Gilbert a lingering look when he mentioned that, and even went out of his way to say, "We get a bit of that then, do we? Weapons practice?" He couldn't hold on that any longer, it was too pressing on him. He knew there was a good chance he wouldn't get much in the way of an answer, but there'd be no harm in voicing his curiosity.

Adalene blinked at the girls story, and was about to open her mouth to tell her what she was saying was obviously impossible, when she decided to pop out of fucking existence. Adalene jumped back, dripping her half eaten sandwich on the floor, a gasp escaping her lips. She carefully walked over to where the girl once was, and pressed her hand through the air tentatively, as if to make sure she was really gone. "Alright..." She said, at a loss for words. The only thing she could maybe assume was that somehow, this was maybe related to her being able to turn into The Human Torch, but she had no way of knowing that for sure.

She'd reflect on this more, if not for a sudden knock on her door. She looked towards the door, and paused for a second, unsure of who it could be. It had already been a really, really weird day so far, so she didn't know what to expect at this point. Adalene walked over to her front door, and looked through the peephole to see her neighbor waiting outside. She had a sense of relief wash over her, glad to see it was somebody she knew. As she undid the lock, and opened up to her, she gave herself a quick once over, to make sure she looked presentable after what just happened. "Hello?" She asked curiously, beckoning her in from the storm. "How can I help you?" She asked.

Bart watched as the Hat walked out to the door, intent on following him closely behind. That passing comment he made, gave him a shiver of anticipation. The idea of having some ability so spectacular that it made transforming into other things trivial was tantalizing, he had to admit. He knew he'd find out in time about what he could do, and he'd love to just be satisfied with that and focus on more important things, but he knew himself too well to know he'd be endlessly puzzling it over and obsessing over it until he found out. He'd have to do what he could to keep himself focused on the problems at hand though, too much was on the line right now.

He caught the eye of Sophia, and gave a friendly smile, "I don't drink much, and I think I could still get behind that." He noted, and closed the distance between the two of them. "This really is a lot to process, I think we need to put a lot of thought into what we've just heard, there's more than what's on the surface, I think." He said carefully, his eyes trailing back to and locking on Eve for a second. "A break will do us all some good, I think. Let's us take it all in and get to know each other. Name's Bartholomew by the way, but my friends call me Bart." He introduced himself, giving a small wave as he did so.

He was about to recommend they head out, when Miss Lucas spoke again, and caused him to turn to face her head on. That was the most overt thing he'd heard out of her mouth at this point. That's how it was then, stay here, or go back in the ground. He gave what might be described as a light chuckle, keeping up a smile. She just showed him something very, very important, if he was reading into her words correctly. She didn't seem to have an emotional investment in their continued life, at least not yet, which spoke volumes about her character. She was obviously in charge around here, or at least was the most prominent voice out the the Emendators, and she cared about the survival and strength of her group more than anything else, even individual life. As soon as Eve stepped out the door, Bart turned back to Sophia, "That,I think, was incredibly important." He said quietly, giving Sophia a bemused look, "Thoughts?"

Adalene winced as the alarm went off, and with a scowl on her face, she swished the flame away, turning it off. As the flame dwindled away, she kept eye contact with the intruder. As she cooled off, so to speak, she decided that this girl didn't look like much of a threat, more scared than anything. Even if she wanted to hurt Adalene, she was pretty sure she couldn't. She glanced back over at her sandwich on the counter, and decided to go for good cop. She made her way back to her food, cut it in half on the diagonal, and placed it down gingerly on her kitchen table, and pushed it over to the side near the girl. She took a half for herself and said, "Take it." her tone forceful.

"Based on the look on your face, I'm gonna say you're more scared than anything." She said taking a bit into her half. "How'd you get in here? I know you didn't come in through the door, I would've heard you." She noted, as she swallowed. She knew she came on strong to a lot of people, but she felt she was in the right in this situation, given the circumstances. The way she saw it, acting the way she did showed Adalene what she was dealing with, and now she could go lighter on her, and still get her answers. She took another bite of her grilled cheese, waiting for the girl to respond.

Bart's jaw dropped as Gilbert transformed, a gasp escaping his lips. "What... the fuck?" He said quietly, then quickly shutting his mouth again, remembering himself. He began to wonder about his own capabilities upon seeing the scope of Gilbert's. He didn't know what to think of the idea of him getting some kind of superpower. The concept excited him on one hand, since it was something that offered the chance to really be somebody that could make a difference, but with all the changes he's already seen today, he just felt like he was getting flung further and further way from the chance of ever having a normal life.

Bart considered this while Evelina took control of the conversation again, listing off examples of what other "Paradoxes" could do. He took particular note of Alicia's power to infiltrate dreams. If that was true, which he may as well assume it is at this point, he'd want to be careful. He did not want anybody in his head. He'd be sure to politely ask ALicia to stay the hell out the next time he saw her. He also noticed when Evelina said they'd be needing their powers for self defense, all but confirming his suspicion that there was some threat to them now, or that they'd be needing to fight something. This would be the center of any questions he asked when he was given the chance.

His eyes narrowed a bit when Evelina ended the "Q&A" session without accepting any questions. He held his hand at his side, tempted beyond temptation to raise and ask a question, but knowing it would be best to wait. He still had a lot to reflect on, ans wanted to know exactly what he was going to ask when it came time for him to ask questions. He looked towards the Hat, ready to follow him on the tour. Who knows, maybe he'd have a chance to suss out some more information from him as they walked. That, and getting know his new peers would be nice.

Bartholomew nodded along carefully as Evelina spoke. So far, these were all things he'd heard from Alicia, that this lady was responsible for their death by some, at least to Bart, incomprehensible means. She also insisted that she was over two thousand years old, which made Bart gawk at her with a look of disbelief and shock. His preconceptions about the possible and impossible seemed to be under constant assault today. He did the only thing he could do, and roll with the punches. Bart took care to match the gaze of Miss Lucas when it landed squarely on him, and tried to keep a neutral, if puzzled, look on his face. He felt some kind of ...fear? No, that wasn't the word. Respect, the more he looked at her. Whatever was going on here, she not only believed to to be totally true, but she took personal responsibility in it.

He was quite intrigued when she said that she was directly responsible for bringing them all back to life. Of course, his head was immediately flooded with questions of why him, out of the countless people that must exist between the apparently multiple time lines. What made him special, entitled to a second chance? These questions were about to break through, and ring out to her, as she shot down any hope of him getting an answer. This made him angry, not because his curiosity was denied, but because she apparently either didn't care, or see how her choice to bring him back to life was very intimately his business.

As she went on about the rules and benefits of their new life, Bart found this anger in him building. He gritted his teeth as he was reminded that he could never return home to his old life. He averted his eyes when she spoke of how torturous it would be to his loved ones to do that to them. As much as he wanted to go back, he understood the world wasn't ready for people returning from the dead. The last time that apparently happened, a worldwide religion started. That thought almost distracted him for a second and made him pause, but he shook it off, knowing it wasn't the time. He didn't allow himself to be distracted by talk of how he wouldn't have to age or get sick any more, though that sounded great. He was just so angry that Evelina thought it was at all okay not to share her reasoning for making him alive, and putting him here. He wanted to call her out on this, and was about to, when she shifted the conversation to "abilities" and called up Gilbert for some kind of demonstration. Taking one look over at him, he lost his nerve. He didn't want to piss off this man, and decided he would need to settle for the tactful option, and wait his turn to question her on this.

Bart smiled back at the large man, waving his hand nervously as he did so. He didn't say anything yet, instead closely paying attention to the people around him, trying to get a bead on who exactly each of them were. He followed them into the sitting room slowly, a little shaky as he did so. He normally wouldn't ever be this standoffish, and he was sure he'd get better with time, but God, this transition was as abrupt as could be, and he just wasn't ready to be social yet. He placed his hands at his sides, and drummed lightly on his calf, when a woman said his name.

His head snapped towards her, temporarily surprised by the fact that she knew his name, but reasoned that, given a room had been prepared for him, and they seemed to somewhat be expecting his arrival, them knowing who he was was the least surprising thing that had happened to him today. He cleared his throat and hurried forward to a seat. He kept his eyes on the lady as she introduced herself as The Dice. He recalled Alicia describing The Dice before, and he was quite intrigued by what he heard. She would be of particular interest to him, since her existence meant randomness was, well, real, if he was to believe Alicia. His eyes trailed for a moment onto The Hat as Eve introduced him, who was apparently the giant who led them in here.

There was a lot to unpack in that short introduction. The Hat, or Gilbert as he was apparently also called, was some kind of warrior from how Bart understood it. That of course, lead him to the question, why did they need a warrior, to the point of introducing him as such? This worried a part of Bartholomew, since he personally was by no means a fighter, and was concerned that this could somehow mean they expected him to fight for them in some capacity. If anything, he preferred to do work from the side lines, but even then, he didn't want to hurt anybody. He packed these feelings away momentarily, deciding to hear her out these "Emendators" completely before jumping into questions or objections. Bart returned his gaze to Miss Lucas, and gave her a nod when she asked if they were ready to get some answers. The only thing he wished for now, was pen and paper to take notes, but he was fine with committing things to memory if he had to.

Adalene marveled a little at the flame in her hand, moving her hand around and playing around with it. She was briefly reminded of her parents endless warnings as a child, telling her not to play with fire, as this was kind of literally what she was doing now. He cautiously took her other hand and dipped it in the fire, feeling a pleasant heat radiate through her fingers. "This is so cool..." She breathed to herself. Dangerous, but still cool. Ideas ran through her head, how she could blend something like this with her fighting style, she'd always be able to defend herself, at least against normal people.

That last idea clinched in her head a bit. If she could so things like this, it wasn't a leap in logic to think other people could too. Especially given the way that girl died in her dream, if that actually happened, it confirmed she wasn't alone. Still, fire was hot and powerful and destructive. She could handle herself in a fight, so even if she ever rand into somebody with... super powers for lack of a better word, then she still had an upper hand.

She was lost in her thought in this, but her concentration broke, however, when she noticed a girl in her kitchen. She immediately put her flaming hand forward, shocked and startled by the intruder. She seemed alarmed at the Adalene's fiery hand, which Adalene decided to leverage to her advantage. "You should be less concerned about my hand, and more worried about explaining why you're in my apartment." She said, her voice cold and threatening. "Or get out. That works too." She slowly started to walk forward, her hand that was currently on fire held out towards the intruder.
