@Poi I bet you were playing as a dirty, disgusting Anathema. Glory to the Scarlet Empress! (Wherever she is...)

I'm already familiar with both of those things, now give me the painfully sweet nectar of forbidden knowledge.

You have to know that that will only make me more curious. I need to know now.

I think I missed something. What is "diapergate"?

Bio

So, I'm NewShoesForever, natch. I enjoy hiding in the shadow of tall things and praying no one sees me.

I am an absolute fanatic for fantasy adventure fiction; the more outlandish the better. I'm also all about collaborative worldbuilding, so hit me up whenever for that if you're interested.

My primary likes include Magic The Gathering and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. I can be seen lurking around any thread in which I am even tangentially involved like an obsessive-compulsive poltergeist.

Dukhan was preparing to give his usual spiel about being "a traveling adventurer, looking for wrongs to right and good deeds to do", when he happened to glance to his left, completely missing the sultry woman glaring daggers at the back of his head. There, sitting in an exhausted, miserable position, was the girl with the bird from earlier. She looked like she knew something. But more than that, right now, she looked like she needed help.

"Oh, hello!" he said abruptly "I'm just a traveler, but you look like someone to talk to."

He smiled warmly.

"My name is Dukhan, adventurer and explorer. What's your name?"

Same here!
@Flightless_Soul Thanks! And I love your worldbuilding idea!
Sure, sorry.
@Flightless_Soul

Y'know, I can't imagine that Yazara is too far from Akshriba. Maybe Ashana recognizes Dukhan's clothes and gun and mistakes him for a bounty hunter? Just spitballing, but I think it would throw an interesting wrench into things. :P
No sooner did Dukhan finish paying for the barely edible fruit than did the young woman he had planned to talk to disappear into the crowd of the market.

"What the...?" Dukhan muttered incredulously.

"What's that?" said the old woman "Is your cousin not here after all?"

Panic gripped Dukhan's heart. He had fought sandwurms and survived deadly puzzles in ancient tombs, but this was the greatest terror he had ever felt.

Before he knew it, he had said something about seeing his landlord and sprinted away from the fruit stand, into the bustling crowd.

Pushing his way through, he saw smoke rise from a chimney nearby. His heart swelled.

Of course! A tavern! That's where adventurers always met in the stories! How could I be so foolish!

With renewed confidence, Dukhan strode toward the busy tavern. As he opened up the door and stood in the doorway, he was greeted with the all-too-familiar sight of barroom commotion. Fortunately, Dukhan had other plans. He walked toward the bartender and sat down serenely on the first open bench, preparing to inquire about the opportunities for adventure and heroism in the area.
@Avali

Dukhan was going to approach Rose to try to ask for information and exposition, as she looked like a fellow adventurer-type. (Also as an excuse to exit a really dull conversation.)

Don't worry though. I can roll with the current situation.
@Avali

And runs away from Dukhan before he even gets the chance to talk with her. ;_;
Dukhan stood uncomfortably straight, snow accumulating on his shoulders as an elderly woman tenderly showcased the produce she had on offer. He had been trying to find a polite excuse to leave for the better part of ten minutes now, as it was more than apparent that this woman did not have any of the information Dukhan was looking for. She beamed as she presented head after head of decaying cabbage, rambling about her granddaughter's fantastic woodcarving skills. Dukhan had already made up his mind that he would make a token purchase of an apple, one of the more palatable looking things for sale, as it was clear that this woman was less than financially well-to-do, but she wouldn't let him get in a word in edgewise!

As Dukhan struggled to pay attention, he spied a young woman in... armor? In the middle of a town? In this weather? Dukhan had to admit that his clothing was rather conspicuous, but nothing compared to this girl's. She was muttering to himself. Quite an odd one, to be sure, but odd folk often had stories to tell. Perhaps she could provide him with an idea of where to start his quest?

Before he had time to consider any further, the old woman removed a heretofore unseen crate of carrots and began showing them off one by one. Dukhan, overtaken by panic, sprung into action.

"Much as I'd love to continue chatting I think I see my... erhm... cousin! Yes, my cousin is over there and I'd like to speak with her! Now, here is a bit of gold for that delicious looking apple! Thank you very much for your time and... ahem... thoroughness."

Dukhan left a bit of gold on the counter (probably too much) and began to walk toward the odd woman.
