"Overzealous...?" The confused word hung upon the female's lips, almost not entirely sure where the Feraligatr was going with his story. Sitting up somewhat, she would listen with intense worry visible upon her visage.

As the story carried on, Pyrrha's gaze fell downcast. "Ah..." However, his final words were quite jarring. "Scared...? I... am not entirely sure I understand the situation. Why would defending a village... I don't understand how she could do it in a manner that's dangerous to herself and others. I can see that you're worried, but... unless you're hiding something from me, I cannot see what you could be worried about..."

Once Piper caught up, the Delphox would offer the scarf. Pressing his back against the wall, he'd slide down into a sit, coughing and breathing in deeply, only to cough more. Rubbing his eyes, he'd let out a pained groan as a grain of sand seemed to scratch as he removed it. "W-We... We should be fine for now. As long as... as long as they don't notice us." Closing his eyes, he'd let out a sigh before speaking once more, "I'm... sorry for dragging you into this. I should have know better... we should have stayed in Rabao, but..." Staring down he'd continue, "Sandstorms... usually do not occur this early in the day... at least not in this desert, I'm so terribly sorry..."

"Once we catch our breath, we should seek out a narrow corridor, it should be easier to defend. In fact, it's possible there's a hidden door that leads into an underground structure... possibly a dungeon... but it may be safer to stay here, I... do not know." Furrowing his brows, he'd look to Piper, "Are you... all right?"

"She's busy...? Ah... I'm so sorry. I take it she's in an exploration team of her own now? If so, I'm sure she's doing fine..." Averting her gaze, she let out a soft sigh, "...Anyway, yes um... I'd be happy to help. Is there something um... wrong with her being so busy?"

"A weird power Arceus can't explain...? Huh, that's kinda weird." Blinking a few times in confusion, the Kirlia would soon regain her composure, taking in the experience. Ember brought up an interesting point, causing her to nod, "Oh yeah, that's probably true. I mean, there had to be some reason you were picked. Being some great leader makes a lot of sense."

Brows furrowed in thought as Selena threw in her thoughts, she sighed, "You're right... he probably doesn't remember a thing..."

It was then Devon spoke about his time as a human, "You didn't have a type? Oh. That's... weird. Anyway, not having scales or a tail isn't really weird. I mean look at me, I fit that description minus the height. A Gardevoir would definitely fit the description... but I doubt you were a Gardevoir." Putting a hand to her lips she thought, "Maybe a human's a really powerful shapeshifting Pokémon that lacks a type? Kind of like a Ditto, but better? I dunno. It's really hard to imagine..."

Looking around, her brows furrowed, "Anyway, when I came through here earlier, there were a lot more Pokémon. A strong one was apparently sent to kill me too. Some little Aron saved me, but... I don't see her. I hope something bad didn't happen..."

Skulking around, the faux-Absol attempted to gather information. Fortunately for him, he overheard two guild members talk amongst themselves. Finding a place to hide behind, he eavesdropped.

"Did you hear? Brick is taking the newbies on their first mission!"

"Oh, Brute's kid's with them right? And I'm pretty sure the little Totodile is the human everyone's making a fuss over."

"Yeah, Devon. He doesn't really seem all that strong, but I guess humans start out as kids and get stronger. Hopefully in time to defeat whatever it is he was sent here for."

A wicked grin played across the Dark-types maw, Oh my... collecting information is entirely too easy. So, the human's name is Devon, and he's a Totodile...? Ah, but better yet they are being sent on their first mission, so I'm sure they're traveling down the trunk as we speak... or at least heading that way. How convenient. I believe it's time...

With a spring in his step, Volug made his way towards Folio's Trunk.

Following Devon quietly, Lilisette took a look around. Though it wasn't her first time going through a dungeon, it was her first time with a proper exploration group. It made her almost feel important, or even grown-up. "Maybe leading is a human thing...? You know what... I never asked. So what exactly is a human? What do you look like normally...?"

Waiting for a response, she took in her surroundings. I was running through here earlier, and I guess I never really had a chance to look. Everything is so... dry. I'm surprised this tree's still alive... that's so weird, it's really lush up top. I wonder what's up...

As they continued, it became increasingly apparent that feral Pokémon have made themselves scarce.

Furrowing her brows, the Gardevoir quietly listened as the Water-type told his story. Small tears streamed down her face as he went on, however she remained completely silent.

Finally, with his story completed, Pyrrha's eyes fell downcast, "O-Oh... I see... you... must have made her so happy. I..." Pausing she'd continue after a moment, "I... notice that you're not with a little girl anymore. Has she grown up...?"

Eyes downcast, the small girl plodded along, following the rest of the group. I-I know they're right, that Pokémon might be okay, but... Heaving a sigh, she'd continue to keep her silence, the Dragonite looming over her filled with worry.

Upon hearing Devon's consoling words, the small girl finally spoke, "Y-Yeah... I know..."

Glancing back at the other Pokémon, Nasir chimed in on the current conversation, "While I agree, given the Shinx's experience..." Closing his eyes, the Zoroark let out a soft sigh, "I would be surprised if they've had a positive interaction with a human, at least before now. It's likely they suspect Lily of deception... it is safer to assume someone means you harm than to trust them." Placing his turquoise gaze upon Shaymin specifically he'd continue, "That said, I am glad that you placed your trust in her. You're right, had you not..." Trailing off, the Dark-type would conclude his words.

Putting his hands on his hips, Gladion looked over the girl's Pokémon as they attempted to conveyed their thoughts. I wish I could understand other Pokémon... perhaps Silvally can give me some sort of a hint... Twisting his visage into a frown, he'd continue pondering, It's definitely some sort of race. Perhaps...!

Looking to Silvally, he'd ask a question, "Do they want to do some sort of obstacle course?" With a nod, the pseudo Grass-type nodded, <Yes, that is quite close.>

Shifting his weight to the other leg, the blonde addressed Luna, "An obstacle course doesn't seem to be exactly what they're requesting, but I'm sure if we set one up, they'll improvise."

Averting his gaze, he'd frown for a moment before continuing his explanation, "The final competition is going to be in the doubles format. I'm sure most of you are unfamiliar with it, which is partially what our training is going to deal with. For example, certain strategies are more viable when you're fighting with two." Winking at his Eevee, he'd continue, "Isn't that right, Serra?"

Glancing back at Luna for a moment, Lucius pressed forward, "Pokémon are beginning to appear in the region, though I cannot say why. I can say that this area suffers extreme temperatures and weather, and has had its share of pollution. When it does rain, it is highly acidic and not potable."

Looking to the other Pokémon, the small Eevee answered their questions, <A Pokéspot is a safe haven for wilds... well... sort of safe. Trainers often bring them food, so that might be why they can thrive. Anyway... um... you can live here, with the support of humans and their technology. Wilds don't exactly have clean water... or um, air conditioning... just um, stuff like that.>

It did not take the group long to reach the tunnel leading towards an elevator. Stepping inside, the man gestured for everyone to enter.

Once inside, Lovrina took a look around, "Ooooh! This is so awesome. It's actually a lot like the place I used to work, but I like the white! It looks so chic!"

Leaning against a rock a bit offset from the Observation Post, a Mienshao rested quietly, likely undetected. Though he was not expecting anything in particular, what he heard intrigued him. A brow raised as a trio of Pokémon spoke of things he suspected, but had no way to confirm.

So there is a human here, already? Oh my... humans! They're so full of potential. Born as weak and feeble children, however... Licking his chops, he'd continue his train of thought, They grow into fantastically powerful beings... oh my... the thought of it! It makes my heart flutter...! Who is this human, I must find more about them! Putting a paw to his forehead, the Mienshao swooned at the thought.

Then, his brows furrowed as he listened to the continued explanation. A warp in space and time... how delicious. Perhaps it has to do with the human, or... perhaps it has to do with her! I expected chaos, but nothing as wonderful as this! Now, as for an event that might occur here... perhaps it has to do with Deeku, or maybe the Manifest~? An ecstatic expression consumed the Fighting-type's form, Yes, yes! Ah, she is such a formidable female. I would so love to battle her...! Ah, but I'm afraid I mustn't... not yet...

Leaning over to take a peek at the trio, the Mienshao's eyes narrowed, Ah, an Absol. It's little wonder he knows so much. Hmmm, perhaps... ah! Yes, many Pokémon trust an Absol's intuition. This... this is how I am going to find that delicious human!

A pink flash of light overtook the Mienshao's form, before finally shifting him into Omen's very visage. Perfect... now, I'll need an alias, won't I... Hmmm. Volug. Yes, that should work nicely...

Glancing at the group one more time, the Absol began to take his leave.

Whether or not they should engage before taking shelter was on both of the make-shift exploration team's minds. If we act first, that will expose Piper to the sand, given she uses her tail to attack. If they notice us, we can always fight them inside of the shelter, that way we can use our full strength... this is of course assuming they do not strike preemptively.

Needing to make a decision, the Delphox looked to Piper, giving her a nod, "Make a run for the stairs. Dodge any and all attacks until we're out of the harsh winds. Let's go!" With his plan verbalized, the Delphox rushed towards the pair of Pokémon who battled right outside the steps.

Sprinting towards his objective, the Fox Pokémon managed to slip past the skirmish, seemingly unnoticed. Rushing down the stairs, he'd then observe the strange, open-air shelter. The ruins had been dug deep into the sand, likely originating from a fissure, with walls built up the sides to prevent erosion. The Sandstorm appeared to blow over the ruins, due to the ingenious design.

Undoing the scarf from his maw, Alodi awaited his partner.

Reluctantly taking the cloth from Piper, the Delphox fastened it around his maw, though it was barely large enough. "Thank you, Piper..." Staring at the ground, he let out a dejected sigh. Now we really must make haste. Miss Piper is now vulnerable...

Sounds of fighting could be heard in front of them. What was likely some sort of rock projectile fired past the pair, nearly hitting them. !? As Alodi considered changing directions, the pair came upon a fierce battle between a Charmeleon and a Machoke. However, the fight is not what caught the Delphox's attention.

Is that...!? Glancing down towards his partner, Alodi pointed his wand forward. He shouted out with glee, "A ruin!" Though obscured, polished sandstone steps could be seen, leading down into what appeared to be a crevice.

After hearing the story, the Gardevoir's eyes grew misty, her gaze downcast. "O-Oh...I'm so sorry. I... I had no idea. That poor girl..." Pausing for a moment, she wiped her tears with a hand, looking back up to the Feraligatr, "I'm sure you made a wonderful parent. You're kind... and you certainly did what you could. That's more than most..." Averting her gaze, she'd continue, "If I were put in that situation, I'm not sure what I would do... I... I would love to be a parent, but I'm not sure if I could..."
