@Shizuochan@Crusader Lord

I apologise for the delay. With Ginger's leaving I had to figure out how to proceed.

If you two are agreeable, I'd like to collab the rest of this.

@Eklispe if you wanted to join, I know we discussed the matter, let me know.
Surprising Machinations

@Shizuochan@Crusader Lord

As the two Independent heroes approached a cloud of dust blew through the hole that used to be the entrance to the bar, a flash of something white being visible for just a moment before vanishing further into the destruction.

Moans and crying echoed around the scene, though there seemed to be only a few serious injuries and even less deaths.

"help..." a voice at Phantom's feet gurgled around a ruined throat before slumping in a pool of their own blood, face first. Was that.... Yes, a common pistol clattered from their hand into the floor.

Nearby a woman was rocking, holding her stomach as she tried to communicate into a phone on her knee. "... Heroes? I don't.... Know.... She's... Upstairs..."

The devastation was prominent, structural damage leaving the building in shambles. Would the heroes advance in such uncertain, dangerous, conditions?

A crash from behind, and another from above, sounded.

They'd need to decide fast...

SCOUTING

Rain glanced around warily as more monsters appea-

"Oh, hey Jason," she called over as everyone started doing their own thing.

So much for leaving.

She didn't want a part of this argument that was heating up, however, so she turned towards where the prey had escaped.

"Scouting is a good idea.... Stay. I will return with Intel." Her words were firm, and loud enough for the nearby Members to hear.

On her way out, however, she paused at a little Pixie chanting in the fire.

Trying to be like Crispy, perhaps? She couldn't fault him that, she herself was thinking of ways to progress to fire herself without more skill points.

She slipped away, letting herself become a shadow.

It took time to get near to the opening to the cave, she had to be careful to not be seen. She could see a small fire, perhaps, by the smoke that floated in the air.

She activated Muffle II and moved to try and get a stealthed view for a count and see what she could learn...
Attention all players. The deadline for applying for the open Jack position has passed. We will make a decision by the end the week at the latest.

Thank you to all who applied.

Rain blinked as the system message appeared and several monsters seemed willing to follow her lead.

She'd... Never been a leader before. This was...odd.

Instead of dealing with whatever that meant, she moved to allocate her points.

"Uh, one point into Poison Glob, one point into Stun Fang, and the rest into Fireball because why the fuck not?" Rain muttered, not exactly trying to keep her voice down. So what if they thought she was crazy? She honestly was pretty sure she was at this point, with these messages in her head and things listening to her.

But she was getting stronger. That was... Nice, right?

And fire.... Crispy had painted an interesting picture, and it had given her ideas. Maybe she could learn to breath fire? And maybe an acid breath? There were... So many options. If only she had more heads, she could already imagine some combinations....

Oh, she was being talked at.

Stay? Mhmmm.

"Yes, I'll stay with you all. But we really should get moving... Take whatever you want for loot, we won this fight."
@Shizuochan@Crusader Lord
With Ginger opting to quit and Spectre being moved to NPC, I'll be looking to update your situation tomorrow or tonight once I figure out how to adapt the plan I had.
Heh. DNA augments are popular it seems.
Jason

Everything was.....

Complicated. Extremely complicated. Benito had gained some kind of phasing ability, maybe? Touch based, hopefully. Making stuff just vanish and reappear at will was.... Interesting. Useful.

All the local groups were being offered a vial, minus the Jacks. Over a snub that didn't matter.

Idly he wondered if anyone would make the connection that they'd stolen the vials.

And the mole. Brought up and basically confirmed.

Who it could be, though.... Jason didn't know enough about any of these people to make anything beyond guesses at.

Jason glanced at his team. He... He wasn't equipped to control this situation. He talked better with his fists instead of his mouth.

There was so much going on, so many noises. So much action.

She'd guarded Messiah for her attack, and Furnace had showed up to help control the heat. She wanted to snort at him, but she knew it was silly.

Things were going great. Civilians evacuated, most of the goons home, Ceramix was falling.

She gave a baby goon a swift thunk to his head with her tail, just enough to make him see stars before scooting him towards Noble for proper restraining.

This was amazing. She'd felt so... Alive.

Ceramix was immobile, about to be dealt with when the most ridiculous crash exploded from the golem's chest area place, causing Lillian to wince at the noise and the flying debris.

There he was. Shatterpoint.

"Shatterpoint has been located!" shouted Inkscape. "He is now priority number one! Converge, everyone!"

Lillian shank, returning to human form, and ran towards Alessa.

"I can't react fast enough transformed to combat Shatterpoint," she said quietly as she drew near, keeping a safe distance from her girlfriend so she didn't have to worry. "I...I don't know what to do."

She could probably handle the remaining thugs in human form, but she didn't feel very useful against the rock Golem or Shatterpoint.

But then a thought occurred to her.
"Inkscape, what if we removed visual sight? I could get close enough to rely on sounds to pinpoint him and try to foam him!" she said into the comms excitedly.

Rain snaked her head around from the goblin she was brutalizing. He'd died before she'd ever touched his throat, but that hadn't stopped her. This was a quick meal, since that Pixie had melted.

She glared daggers at Crispy and the two helping him escape. They were enemies, and this was terrible.

Such a wasted opportunity.

"Everyone pack up if you want to live. They're gone, and it's going to get brutal in retaliation."

Who were these creatures? They worked together well. And that Wisp talked about humanity and stuff. Maybe they were all Humans?

Odd.

Had she killed any humans reincarnated? Not that it necessarily bothered her, if she was going to be honest. But the thought gave her pause.

She stopped at the goblin that the other lizard had attacked, tearing out this throat for good measure, assuming the lizard hadn't taken care of it himself yet. It might already have died, but you just couldn't take chances in a turf war.

"No chances." she muttered.

Shaking her head, she started to sink in the opposite direction of Orchard, away from the fire.

"We can't take on an army... Not yet."

Not that she entirely believed it herself, though.

Oh, how she wanted to watch that big guy's flesh melt.
