Not for long, though. Soon China will become a lot more relevant and even more powerful economically than the US. Get used to it and celebrate this 4th of July as if it was the last one. Who knows if you'll still have the money to do so next year ;P
Also... the US national anthem is truly not the original, or truest national anthem. That honour belongs to Het Wilhelmus from 1568-1572, the oldest national anthem in the world.
Also... the melody of the star spangled banner was a british pub song...

(Oh, I love this :D)
Statistically proven is, that the USA has a worse standard of living than the old communist GDR, just saying xD

And the GDR was bankrupt all the time.
Although still events like the BBC Last night of the Proms is something I'm envious of, that we, in Germany, don't have such a thing. But our national pride was bombed to ashes and buried beneath the rubble of our destroyed cities 70 years ago. There is nothing you could be proud of. Except that we live in Germany, not in some 3rd world country, like the USA for example.
I have to admit, though... I have a flag hanging in my room. Not the German flag, though. I have the Maple Leaf hanging in my room.
You do realize we have a new wave of nazism here? And yes, that stuff will still make people uncomfortable. Me too. Other nation's flags and designs don't.
And NOBODY flies the German flag outside their house. Nobody, except for government buildings. Not even on our national holiday, the 3rd of October, Day of German Unity.

Of course, the police doesn't punch people, but like I said, we have a new wave of national unrest. Lots of new nazis and a lot of new anti-nazis. It's such a big problem, that we sometimes even have "battles" in the streets.
Wow, are you serious? They don't allow public displays of national pride?

There is no national pride in Germany. That is something people from America don't seem to understand. That people are like "I'm German, so what? I could've been born anywhere else, nothing special"
And especially with our historic background, of which we are reminded of daily, it is very difficult to even strat to feel "proud" of being German.
I'm slightly confused...is it your implication that we are stupid generalization-makers, who'd vilify you for the tiniest semblance of nationalism? I highly doubt that is the case.

By who exactly

I'm having a hard time believing this

I'm talking about people in Germany. German police and stuff. I've seen the actual police go to people waving flags in public and talking to them to put them away, because it is disturbing people.
I've never seen any evidence of that actually existing tbh

I'm pretty sure nobody cried "NAZI" during the World Cup for example

Like I said, the world cup and the Europa Cup are the exceptions, but otherwise you're going to be called a Nazi if you wave a German flag around in public. And you live in the US, you don't see evidence of it. I mean, it's in our genetic code. Even I feel uncomfortable seeing our flag in public.
Well... if you want to get punched to death, sure go ahead. Except when football, also known as soccer, is on. Then you can wave around your Germany flags however you want. But don't you dare wave it around in public when nothing's on...!
