I wonder if this place would ever run a proper Play By Post with dice rolls and whatnot.

The average life expectancy of RPs here leave something to be desired.

Ah yes, looking up words in Google Translate. Used an actual paperback dictionary back in the day, but still - looks like I'm back in the saddle.

@dabombjk oh, I just realized I picked a name too close to "Garrus". Will rename later.

EDIT: Done.
You have time to think. I get off work in 9 hours.
@peaceless
well by that logic I mean yes kinda but we are only using it this once to get the intro's out of the way but i regret it. I wanna get the introductions over with so i would appreciate it if you didnt use it.

Excellent. Then I await the reply of our respectable doctor. I will work on an introduction post that would need only slight change depending on her answer.

Edit: Oops, looks like I already have the reply. We can do it in two ways:

1. The encounter is just the three of us.
2. The encounter happens late enough for everyone to join in.

Number 2 interrupts whatever everyone's doing so you need to decide where Kieran will be, since he can't be in 5 olaces at once.
At most, it saves people from having to wait for eachother. But the Krogan/Asari timeline is becoming a small mess.

BUTT I want a piece of the cake too. I want to exploit this timeline thing to take the medic hostage before the captain arrives in the room. That's doable isn't it, @AquaAzura, @dabombjk?
Well guys, your posts are a great read, but this is the most disorganised IC I have ever seen. There must be a better way of doing this...

I'll uh let you know when I think of something.
It was then that each of the members suddenly felt blinded by a flash of light. Across the room, a rather slender individual looked at them, his glasses deflecting light straight into their eyes.

He lowered his eyebrows as his face set into a small, yet worrisome, smile.

"Perfect."

------

The first day of school was always refreshing for one Kiril Gurevich. It was a day of awakening from the slumber that summer vacation seemed to be, especially for students who did not have teams yet. He wasn't slacking around of couse, as there was quite alot of research to be done about the upcoming season's roster, as well as evaluation and testing of his new Gear, but it all seemed too slow for him. He needed more pressure, and the first day of school felt like a vice grip slowly clamping around his body.

It was a wonderful sensation.

True to the results of his research, he found the recruitment poster he was looking for on the school's oublic bulletin. The team he targeted was in shambles, the ambition of its members tearing it apart until only the core remained. He could not ask for a better opportunity. The Celestial Star had all necessary doors open for it already, and all that was needed from it was for it to walk through.

Naturally, the team's usual sponsors would have limited patience for failure, but this is where he would come in.

------

The young man approached the group, gliding like a hot knife through the crowd. He stopped at the distance that wouldn't require him to bend his head all the way down to see those seated, but still loomed over them, and over the newcomers.

"Good morning." his heavy European accent gave him away as a foreigner. Then again, the rest of the team did not seem chipped from the same block either. "Gurevich Kiril. I am here to join the Celestial Star."

@PeacelessI don't believe there are weapons like that in the series to my own knowledge. Though it is a short visual novel so I'll give you that. There so far have only been weapons shown that are standard shooting, or melee weapons.

So just guns and swords? Do you really plan on limiting yourself to this alone?

@Heckno12 I believe has played the visual novel too so he may be able to help jog my memory too. Transformable weapons aren't a thing the closest thing to that would be eagle's ability to shift into overdrive mode which is basically trans-am from gundam oo mixed with G Gundam's Super mode. Though I suppose if you somehow worked in why you'd have an experimental weapon from some company, or your own design then I MAY consider it. Though the effects your stating probably won't be a thing as there is as of yet no standard for 'elemental' effects.

I didn't plan on playing a dude who designs weapons, but if this is the only way to override the "just guns or swords" thing, then yeah, why not. And I don't mind starting out small and improving the thing as we go, in fact it's an even better idea than what I originally had. But, the whole concept hinges on the assumption elemental or otherwise CC effects exist. Question is, do you plan on adding these at all.

A shield shouldn't be too out of the ordinary though there aren't none shown in the series I'm sure some mechs have that option. My best bet would probably go with a pistol build and drop the shield as you can spray, and move. Using a sword, or some other melee weapon to keep them from just wiping you out at close. Harass, and delay the enemy prevent them from making moves while my own character, and Heckno's work some sort of play out on the enemy. Or if you wanted a more melee oriented build then using an standard rifle, and perhaps a sword and shield. It's pretty basic as far as mechs go but it works for just general standardized things go. However there are also heavier weapons notable in the game as while some units have slimmer weapons, others have heavier builds like Eagle (The main protagonist's mech) notably uses a large buster sword like weapon.

Does this help at all?

From a strategic point of view this may make sense, but it is not what I was going for. The shield is to force range guys to go closer in order to stop my guy from harassing them. If the biggest problem of my concept is the grenade launcher turning into a melee weapon, we can forego that part and just have my guy be vulnerable to melee. No shame in that.
Hello hello!

I don't have in-depth knowledge of the setting yet, so I only have a general idea of the role I want - crowd control/disruption.

I visualise in my mind's eye a mech with a shield and a weapon that functions similarly to an omnitool from the ME series - a gun that shoots energy grenades with various effects (slow/blind/stun/overheat) and can turn into a melee weapon that can disable a mech from close range. The mech itself will be pretty normal other than particular resistance to the above effects.

Does this make sense with the setting in any way?
