The Mandate are a faction of Golgotha remnants that are still loyal to the tenets of the original Golgothan faction that destroyed the Llyrian Empire. The Outer Alliance destroyed the original faction, but it (the Golgotha faction) fractured into smaller ones like the Mandate and the Concordance. The Concordance is allied with the Unity Accords now (though it's a sketchy alliance), but the Mandate isn't and is still being evil and spooky in their own part of the galaxy, presumably waiting for the right time to reembark on a genocidal campaign.
I'm currently writing a post, but don't be too inclined to wait for me; I'm a slow writer and I'd rather not hold the RP back. Also, happy turkey day to all.
@Polybius They can muster ships, yeah. They are a sort of knightly-state, but on a planetary level, so they have access to a lot of resources. That said, they don't have a fleet big enough to fight a large fleet head-on. They rely on small, hard-hitting strikes, usually unconventional and highly mobile. The ships they have are probably small in comparison to those of bigger nations, and are designed for fast-attack missions more so than pitched battles. So probably a lot of FTL-equipped stealth craft built to fight like submarines.
I re-did my app one last time (I promise). It's called the Order of Palathyn/Palathyn Order now, and it's more of a knighly state, except on a planetary level. Still hatin' on Golgotha, though. I also kept it a lot more simple and vague so that I can add to it as the RP develops. I'll start thinking of an intro post now, and read the one that's already up.
The Palathyn Order is a knightly organization with three branches. Sentinels are the name given to the warrior caste of the Palathyn Order. They are warriors first and foremost. The Creators are the engineers and craftsmen responsible for the production of needed goods and equipment, as well as construction. The Lorespeakers are warrior-scholars; academics and scientists responsible for the development and understanding of technology. They often scour worlds burned to ash by the Golgotha is search of ancient knowledge.
Officials:
Hierarch Vicimer
Redoven Odokar
Antem Vortigas
Worlds:
Palathyn: The homeworld of the Order, Palathyn is a lush and largely untamed planet filled with dangerous wildlife and battered by powerful storms. Before the Order, Palathyn had been chosen by the Imperial Llyrian authorities as a suitable, uncharted planet to which the Emperor could be evacuated. The evacuation never came to be, but the fortifications built in secret by Imperial engineers still stand.
Brief History:
The Palathyn Order traces its origins to the final days of the Llyrian Empire. When the Golgothan onslaught tore the imperial worlds asunder, survivors were scattered to all corners of the galaxy, with some of them forming what became the Order of Palathyn; an organization dedicated to fighting back against the Golgotha.
Primary Species:
Humans make up the majority of those in the Order of Palathyn, but there are minorities of aliens within the ranks. Although there is an inherent distrust of xenos, the Order is an organization based on merit, and as such anyone of any species can rise through its ranks and become a respected member.
Policy:
The Order of Palathyn is not a member of the Unity Accords and therefore continues the production and active use of controversial technologies on both sides of the spectrum, including weapons of mass destruction and Faster-Than-Light travel.
Formed with the expressed purpose of fighting back against the Golgotha, the Order has been engaged in a kind of insurrection against the Golgotha for many years. FTL-equipped vessels have on numerous occasions struck Golgothan targets using nuclear devices.
Despite its open conflict with the Velian Concordance, the Palathyn Order has not engaged in war with other members of the Unity Accord, and has actively avoided causing harm to them.
The Palathyn Order conducts much of its business in secret or through intermediaries - this includes trade and often diplomatic actions.
It has gone to great lengths to keep the location of Palathyn a secret. Heavy restrictions on travel and the efforts of counter-intelligence specialists have kept the exact location of Palathyn buried beneath a mountain of deception. The planet's remote location in uncharted space and the absence of a gateway into the system have also made it difficult to locate. Only vessels equipped with FTL may travel to and from the world.
