@KirraI'm glad you're interested! I look forward to hearing from you. :)

@CutUpThe only "issue" I have with what you've suggested is "using abilities from the show." I understand that you don't mean "characters," but I'd definitely better enjoy the opportunity of being able to use "original" abilities alongside canon.

But I would definitely enjoy collaborating with you on creating a new universe with new names and such. I'd want to stray from what you had created just for the sake of creating something "new" rather than recycling (though recycling some terms/ideas/etc. wouldn't be out of the question). Feel free to PM me with ideas if you're at all interested.
I'm wondering who'd be interested in forming an RP based on the show "Alphas."

I would prefer an AU for this RP. So we wouldn't be working with the Government and we wouldn't have Dr. Rosen with the Government against Stanton Parish/Red Flag. I'd like to develop it here before moving to an OOC.

Those unfamiliar with Alphas:
Alphas are humans with extraordinary abilities. In the show, there is a man who can "Amp Up" and acquire superhuman strength (i.e. crashing through wooden walls, bending steel). However, he can only sustain this for a short period of time and this has an adverse affect on his heart and nervous system which can be treated with medication, but this has its own adverse affects. But, with the help of Cat, an alpha who can learn to implement anything she watches at an expert level but cannot remember anything past a few weeks, he has learned to enter a meditative state and attain this superhuman strength with no adverse affects, but has lesser control over his consciousness.

This is just one example of the many to which we are introduced throughout the show. The point is that, though these abilities are extraordinary, they come with drawbacks that can inhibit an Alphas health, emotional state, or even sanity. This is important when creating an Alpha ability.

Notable from the show is the idea of the Government vs. Red Flag. The government wants to utilize/control Alphas while Red Flag wants to control the world/overthrow the government/create chaos (however you want to see the ends of Red Flag). This can be incorporated into the RP, though I would prefer it in a different manner.

I would also prefer the use of different Alpha abilities than discovered in the show, or at least have differing sources and drawbacks.

The idea I have for an Alpha is an individual with Hyper Intuition/Interpretation. Everything has a meaning. Superstitions are real and Psuedo-sciences are true. He can interpret Astrology and does Tarot readings. However, it's usually for the present and he doesn't have much control over what he interprets without much focus. General use of his abilities can include interpreting the way in which a leaf falls to the ground and where it falls and how it looks on the ground. This can come from the idea of the Butterfly Effect and that he can determine the cause of an outcome. His ability can be used as a forensic analyst, strategist, or just a fortune teller.

I'm not sure how to specify this further. If anyone has a better idea of Alphas than I do, feel free to chime in. But any and all feedback is welcome. :D
I was initially interested in this game, but as I read the OOC, the issues quickly began to heap on top of one another. I mean no offence, and if you're not interested in critique, I apologize and you shouldn't read any further than this.
As in the OOC, I welcome criticism, especially when it is well-constructed as you have demonstrated. So know that that is appreciated. :)

Your game lacks direction. A completely open sandbox gives players too many options and nothing to bring them together - in my experience, relatively few players are interested in just playing by themselves. The bit on the political situation doesn't introduce any tension or conflict into the game, but in fact removes it (although I doubt anyone would come to a Pokémon game to tackle issues like sexuality).
I mentioned it was going to be sandbox for everyone's first post so that people can introduce their characters and any NPCs they might feel compelled to create. But I should also mention something like "indicate to me when you want to be introduced into the plot." I just know some people like sandbox and some don't, so I wanted to include enough things for more people. But being sandbox does not mean "playing by one's self." There's still communication in he OOC and players can still interact with each other in a sandbox setting. And I don't know what "political situation" about that you mentioned, but it's certainly not supposed to be a major part of the RP unless a player/players such wish to make.

The new technologies you introduce don't seem to add anything to the story or affect much of anything. If you added them in to give players a feel of a more modern era, I'm not really feeling it - although this might just be me. I think you'd have to do more to reinforce the idea that we're in the future, and make it clear that's supposed to be a central theme of the game. If I were you, I'd have tried to find a way to center the plot around the conflict between Team Zodiac and the rest of the world. Unlike many "Teams" that people add into their Pokémon games, yours actually has a purpose and a reason to exist in the story beyond just being there, so my hat's off to you on that.
They're not supposed to "affect" anything. It was a feel for how the world has developed over the years.I think storing everything digitally in a gauntlet is much more advanced than a PokeNav, watch, and a backpack. Not only that, these technologies are optional and that list isn't finite. If you're* (general "you") not feeling it, then contribute to it until you do. ;P
And the idea of technological advances *will be the center of the game, but it depends how much each character interact with technology itself to determine Team Zodiac's impact on each character. It's so vague because I want others to contribute because if I had it exactly how I wanted it, that post would be so much longer and more detailed and, thus, allow much less room for player contribution.

Your rule about what moves Pokémon can know I find very off-putting. It complicates things a lot, since people can't necessarily anticipate your opinions on what's suitable and what isn't - as evidenced by the large amounts of illegal moves in the application in the thread - and I, for one, don't see how it contributes to the game. At least not to the point where the contribution outweighs the hassle - it also probably goes against what a lot of people expect, and that's bound to disappoint some people.
I know that some people just can't handle the idea of "unlimited" moves. I also know that people are very strategy-based and wouldn't dream of having their Starmie only use Water and Psychic moves while not being able to use Thunderbolt. But this is the very reason I made the decision to expand moves while also limiting moves for Pokemon. I wanted it to be more creativity-based combat rather than "stats+moves=Iwin." That, to me, is entirely un-fun and I hate RPs that do this.
And I want to clarify that "illegal" in the sense you used it is only from a game standpoint. This is not based off game mechanics or even anime mechanics. The decision for this type of move set was to stay very different from both of those mediums, since I believe they don't do my Pokemon justice (yes, I actually have them xP).
But I'm not here to convince you that my way is better. Indeed, I've had someone on the Guild before the GuildFall tell me how wrong and stupid I was for implementing something so foreign and against the spirit of the game/anime mechanics. So, I understand that people just can't wrap they're heads around the idea, but I'm not here for those players since I generally find them only here to "win" instead of "play."

This is not an invitation to debate, by the way - just some well-meaning critique from someone who doesn't get to write enough in his everyday life. You're more than welcome to disagree, of course, I'm just saying that I'm not looking to start a lengthy argument. Hope this helps in some small way.
Well, I appreciate the feedback. And I hope I clarified my decisions for the RP.
And this is technically considered an argument (unless you were concerned about the "lengthy" part of "lengthy argument"). Regardless I enjoy educated arguments/debates. My Mars is in Gemini, so it's pretty much my "work out." xP
But, for real, if I've learned anything from being on the internet, it's that there's no use in getting offended by disagreements from others. But it's harder because there's no tone or body language, which I rely on in real life to truly understand others. /Tangent
@EllriI think the point of this was that the people who drop the RP they claim to show interest in just never sign back on and never give any kind of notice (which isn't unusual in itself). Not only do they just never get back to the RP, they never sign back on. It's like they're bots to play with our emotions. xP

But you're right, nevertheless. I wish all GMs were like this in that they encourage and even require intercharacter relations to some degree. It would definitely help in creativity and muse and would definitely keep the more loyal players around. It just seems like no one is loyal to anything now-a-days.

There are so many threads complaining about the lack of follow-through with any RP and from both sides. Why is this? Why is it so hard to put an RP on hiatus and get back to it at a later date? Does it make it easier to walk away due to the internet being so anonymous? It's entirely disheartening for all when the majority of RPers on this site never commit to anything to its end, nevermind the fact there's no sense of respect in telling a GM that you're walking away or that you won't be able to post for a while. Now it's just grown to people not signing onto the forum ever again. It makes me just want to write on my own, which I don't prefer to do to begin with. But when the community lacks discipline and respect, I care little to interact with it and, 99% of the time, waste my time.

At this point, it's a game to attract anyone who will stay with the RP for 2 posts. I think it's been a year now since I've joined or created an RP that's lasted longer than that.
I was actually thinking of the same thing...
I thought I was the only one. I only play in Advanced and this is pretty much what happens every time. Everyone makes their CS and then doesn't log back on...ever...again.

I'm just going to be persistent until the right person...a real person...stumbles across and doesn't vanish.
Let's see if I can't catch someone who doesn't disappear after creating a CS.
I mean, it can't be my fault...can it?
