Again Sprout went into battle, the splash of water greeting him as he went head first into the Goldeen, who was ready to retaliate with a strike in return. A quick toss of a Pokeball from Martin stopped the attack in it's tracks, the ball shaking until finally giving up with a click to confirm. "Alright, nice work Sprout. We got that Goldeen, and you didn't even get hit." Martin was already pulling out his Pokedex to check what it knew for moves. Not a bad pick, but probably could use some training later. He quickly shoved his Pokedex back in his pocket getting back to why he was here. "Come on Sprout, can't keep the party waiting this long." Sprout bounded after Martin, his short legs not going as fast as his trainer, who was ready to get back on track.

Martin stopped for a few seconds, a cave like this was not a good place for Sprout to be trying to walk it. He turned back to Sprout, who was still trying to keep up. "Sorry Sprout, you should take a rest. Caves aren't the best place to be having you do a workout. I'll call you out when I need you, sound good?" Sprout sat where he was. It was pretty clear that it was agreeing and was now going to refuse to move otherwise. Martin called Sprout back to his Pokeball, instead calling out Nincada. The bug looked around, for once not trying to avoid the light. He actually seemed a lot more relaxed down here, just what Martin expected.

"Hey Nincada, got you a treat this time. A cave, nice and dark. Also it's been bugging me that I never did give you a name. Got any ideas?" Nincada just blankly stared at him, not giving any response. "Thanks for the ideas... How about Nick?" Nincada continued to stand there, enjoying the scenery more than the conversation. "I'll get back to this later then. Come on, we got things to do." Nincada finally gave a small nod and the two hurried the pace to catch up to Dawkin.

Martin was finally getting used to swapping out Pokemon for the job, as Nincada didn't have any trouble navigating in a cave, the terrain not bothering him at all. He waved to Dawkin as he caught up. "Sorry that took a while. Sprout was a little too powerful, so it took a bit longer than expected. So, which way from here are we going?"
Martin was trying to weaken his attack to make sure he didn't make the Pokemon faint. He one shot the first one, so the next one is an intentional weak hit. If he manages to beat it even with this handicap, then it just shows that the Pokemon won't be helping him too much. Like when you have a high level team, but want that Pokemon. You find a way to hit even weaker to catch it.

The plan went off exactly as planned. The Surprise Leech Seed was executed perfectly, and the Vine Whip connected faster than the Goldeen could even try to attack. Unfortunately, it was too powerful, the Pokemon out of the water and fainted. Martin gave a quiet groan, okay, too much power. That was a good lesson to learn from this. There were still more Goldeen in the water, shake it off. "Nice one Sprout, but you might need to hit lighter next time. Pick out another Goldeen and try using Tackle instead, then I'll toss the Pokeball." Sprout was proud of showing off that he could handle the enemy, and quickly looked for another one to aim at. He took a single step backwards before diving into the water straight at another Goldeen, his small body splashing into the water. It looked more like a cannonball due to the shape, but grace wasn't needed here.

Dawkin already was continuing on, and Martin had a bit of time. Should be simple enough to catch one if the last one went down so quickly. While he did have the thought that maybe they were weak, it was also possible that it was just because of using a powerful hit. He lightly tossed the Pokeball he still hasn't had a chance to use in the air. If his best foot forward was too much, then he'll have to make do with a little less power.

Martin was all too right about having to go through water. His shoes were indeed not ready for this. Damp, dark cave and the feeling of not being alone. They were large fish, orange and white. Martin pulled out his Pokedex to scan the Pokemon. It was a Goldeen, which was a water type. He had a grass type, and could probably catch this. His current team was really weak to fire, and this should fix that problem.

"Hey Dawkin, which way was it from here? If you don't mind, I kind of want one of these Goldeens. Never hurts to catch a few Pokemon along the way, right? What do you think, Sprout?" Sprout was enjoying the swim through the water, his tiny feet paddling along the surface. He wasn't paying much attention to anyone. Martin had a smile on his face, amused by seeing such a sight. "Sprout, are you having fun?" Sprout finally snapped out of it, looking around before getting back to dry land. He looked back at Martin again, trying to look like he wasn't caring. Martin wanted to tease Sprout, but that would get him back a few steps and let it slide.

"Now let's see, a Grass type move should end this in maybe two hits, and I got plenty of Pokeballs. Yeah, should be quick and easy. Alright Sprout, use Leech Seed to slowly drain it's health. Then use Vine whip and we'll see if that's enough to start trying to catch it." Sprout looked for the closest Goldeen and fired small seeds at it. Martin was having a silent moment in his head, Sprout did what he told it to do! Finally, progress. He hoped this was going to be quick, as he still had things to do. If there was any other good Pokemon, they would have to wait. This was greedy, but he did need something that was strong against Fire types, just in case.

So the people nearby were just other customers? Perhaps Dan was jumping the gun again. They weren't a part of anything major. Dan had to give some thought to what the pink Rito lady asked. Did he have a preferred food? He just enjoyed the taste, as he didn't need to eat. He thought for a while, trying to find the words. "Surprise me. I don't normally eat a lot." He was once again reminded that he was offered rocks to eat. How do Gorons eat rocks, it seems a bit much. This town hasn't tried to attack him at all, either he was lucky, or just too paranoid.

What caught Dan's interest was mention of Ordon. They were leaving this town for some reason. Would it be rude to tag along? No, he can check it out himself to avoid the crowds. This place was massive and it would take a while to learn the area. Tough decisions to pick from. He looked over to Rin and spoke to him. "Is something happening in Ordon? Sounds more interesting than sitting around here." Ordon should be in the west direction, at least that's what the signs said. How could he resist an excuse to find new things?

Of all the people to respond to Dan, it was the pink Rito lady. She seemed a bit distracted, trying to answer him. "I did cook that food. I don't have anymore, sadly, but I'm planning on finding a place to cook some more."

This was troubling news for Dan. He went through the entire crowd, doubling back on himself, to find this place. All of it was for nothing, and now they were looking. No one was being aggressive, maybe he was being on edge too much. "That is, too bad." He looked downward, he didn't have a plan for if there was nothing here. He was set to leave when the taller Rito stepped forward to try and talk.

The next one to speak was a Rito who was a lot more colorful. She was also so much taller, towering over Dan's already short height. She was talking a lot, most of it hastily explaining what happened, shattered dishes, and paying for it. Wait, what was that last part? "I would like to personally pay for everyone's meals today, it's the least I could do." A free meal, Dan's luck was still going strong. He didn't have any money, and didn't have to swipe it. He hopped in excitement, free food was being offered.

The new question was why so many people were at this stand. Not all of them looked like customers, which was odd. Unless they knew each other? "Are these your friends?" He tried to point with his nose to the non-Ritos, which only looked like he was just looking around. So many races in this town, it was quite an experience to be here. Times like this he was glad to be out seeing the world. When he wasn't looking around him, expecting something bad to happen.

Dan was amazed by the spectacle of a Goron who could use lightning. It was like he didn't even do anything. Wait, could Gorons use magic? Now that led to wondering if Gorn could use magic. Something seemed off, but Dan shrugged it off. This town was full of impossibilities, so maybe it was normal. The crowds were dispersing for a lunch break, giving Dan some room to move around again. He wandered around the crowd, since it would be a while before the fighting resumed. The spectacle of fighting had him excited and even considering joining, until he reminded himself that there were Gorons everywhere. He didn't stand a chance in a fair fight, and doubted it would have gone too well. He was lost in thought as he kept walking aimlessly, not paying attention to the people he bumped into or the ones who stepped out of the way. He was stirred out of his thoughts as he smelled the same food from earlier, having been led there by it's scent. He could get some more, if no one was there. He followed the scent, having been mixed with the many food stalls, it took a while.

Dan finally found the stall and was dissapointed by the presence of two Ritos, a Zora and some human. From what he could tell, they were standing around a pile of destroyed food. This explained why the last place was empty, one of them must have been the cook. The problem was, who did it? Dan didn't like to talk much, but he was curious as he might get get something for his troubles. It wasn't that he needed food to eat at all, but the taste was delicious. If all else fails, that Goron from earlier offered something that wasn't rocks hopefully. No one seemed to be hostile around here, so he was feeling brave. He took a few steps towards the group, a lone Deku Scrub among the crowd.

"Did one of you cook this food? Is there more still?" He looked at the food as he talked to point it out, then looking back over the group of people. The very fact he was talking to a group of strangers already was draining his confidence quickly. He took a step backwards, considering if it was too late to back away. He looked like he made a mistake within moments, and was trying to avoid eye contact.

With the possible battle against Zubats over, Martin was still looking at Sprout. It was fine the last fight, so why was this asking too much? This was a nagging thought he had to shake himself from, remembering he was talking to this guy from earlier. "Well that could have gone poorly. Nice to run into you again, but I do have to ask why you're in the caves. Trying to get through here and onto the next city? Did you happen to see any suspicious people come through here recently? Oh, I forgot to introduce myself again. I'm Martin, and this is my newest Pokemon, Sprout." Sprout gave a friendly sound, "Saur". Okay, now Martin was feeling betrayed.

"Anyways, me and Dawkin were on our way to find a couple of people down here. Maybe teach them a lesson or two. Okay, maybe also catch a few Pokemon on the way, if the chance shows itself." He stopped to crouch on one knee to look at Sprout from an even height. "We're supposed to be on equal ground, Sprout. Fighting each other won't help either of us. So how about I get you something to eat later and we forget about earlier?" Sprout looked at Martin and didn't turn away. It was a start, had to take what he could get as a sign of an improvement. Considering he actually didn't know the correct route through this maze, he was more than willing to wait for when Dawkin was ready to move on. His shoes weren't in the best shape for trudging through water, but that will be a small sacrifice if it had to happen.

Dan was only getting confused listening to Gorn. He motioned to his shoulder and said that his friend was playing a prank. There was no one there, so Dan tried to focus on it. He wasn't pointing to anything, was it hiding? Wait, hiding where? He was working in overtime until Gorn reminded him that the entire plate was on the floor, not that he needed it. He just enjoyed the taste of it, and now it was ruined. Gorn was offering to buy him rocks and ores. Do Gorons literally eat rocks? He was ready to shake his head, until actual food was asked instead. Dan was taught that most species should be treated with suspicion. No way should he be getting rewarded after the stunt he pulled. Gorn laughed at it, and offered to pay to replace food he never even bought.

Dan's mind was swirling with conflicting thoughts between what he was taught and the nagging thought that there nice people out here. His face was swimming in the mental whirlwind that was his mind. Was it possible that not everything needs to be feared and avoided? He stuck around, partly to watch the fight, and partly because he was curious about the Goron. Talking wasn't something he did too often, only when needed. He gave a silent nod of his head to Gorn, the leaves rustling from the motion. He found a spot a good distance from the crowd. Now he noticed a Goron with knives sticking out of his back, who probably just finished a fight. These things were tough, and so many of them.

The crowd was gathering in, more cheering on their favorite fighters or to see the event. It was slowly making Dan back away to avoid them. Considering how short he was, now he had to find a higher spot to watch the fight from. Short hopping did nothing to help, he had to get closer or climb on top of something. He pushed his way forward, people jumping back or not wanting to talk to the Deku among them. It didn't matter to Dan, just meant he could be at the front. Should be fine to watch the action from here. He looked like he was silently cheering Gorn on, but it was hard to read a Deku's face at times.

Dan was trying to hold his laugh back, watching chaos was among his favorite things to do. That moment of joy was short lived as suddenly, the plate of food that was being balanced on his head suddenly was launching itself at him. In a panic, Dan did what was a perfectly natural response to danger. He burrowed underground, swiftly leaving the mysterious threat and disappearing, the priority was now figuring out who did that. The plate fell onto the ground , spilling all over the floor and the plate was rolling away. Potentially Confliti was taken with Dan as well to the depths below. It must have been magic, but who was trying to attack him? He was contemplating this from the seconds he bought himself. After a few more seconds, he peeked back up to check. Aside from the confused stares of people around him, no one appeared to be fighting. Dan was confused as well, where was this attacker?

The Goron he was playing a prank on was laughing instead of any other emotion he expected. He was hunched over crying tears of laughter, clearly Gorons were as dim as he thought. Dan caught the back half of what he was saying, having missed part of it while underground. "That was quite the trick, friend. How do you manage such a thing?" It was talking to him, without violence. Dan stared at this thing, it was a trick. Seeing as the food stopped flying at his face, he decided to answer this guy. He jumped back out of the ground, to try and stand even half the height of the Goron. His voice was dripping with paranoia and suspicion towards Gorn. "I used forest magic. Why are you laughing? Are you making fun of me?" He was ready to fight or flee, based on what was the next answer.
