I listened up to halfway through the fourth book a while back, and it's definitely pretty cool. I'd like to see where you go with this idea.
I'm still here
"Go ahead and go first. It's your day after all!" Tidus called back to Nolan from the front of the group. The eleven year old had insisted on pushing his own luggage cart. He gave a light scowl in Tidus' direction but the young man merely chuckled, "People are gonna get the impression you don't want to be here." The boy smiled at this, "Yeah, yeah whatever. Just don't know why you had to come. I didn't need a whole crowd to see me off." "Nonsense, son. You've faithfully come and seen everyone off. The least they can do is do the same," Thomas said. The older man's age was starting to show, particularly in his hair, but his attitude showed no hint of weakness or frailty. "I'm sure Gus would have joined us too if he was here." He ruffled his youngest son's hair and patted his back gently nudging him along. Nolan stepped through the barrier onto Platform Nine and Three Quarters, the scarlet engine taking his breath away as it had done every year past. The general sound of the train station changed instantly, with all sorts of bangs and whistles and cries of strange pets filling the air. The smile returned to his face once more, this time with a much greater feeling. He was finally going to get to go. Today was his day indeed. Roy followed in behind him, his own luggage cart holding the boys' owl, Fletch, who was clearly not enjoying this day. Judoc, Tidus, and their parents soon followed. The boys loaded their luggage onto the train, joking and making bets as to what house Nolan would end up in. Tidus in particular was ready to put down fifteen galleons on Nolan's placement in Hufflepuff like him. "It's only natural. We're the hardest workers and it would be completely appropriate for the youngest and the oldest to be in the same house." His parents however, were more concerned with making sure he behaved at school and kept on track. "Don't give up, try hard, have fun, but not so much you get in trouble." With a few more goodbyes and last minute reminders from their parents and Tidus, the three younger Archer boys boarded the train at last. Roy immediately went off to find some girl who he'd been exchanging owls with for the past week or so, apparently unaware of the glob of red paint stuck to his sleeve. Nolan looked at Judoc, and the two held back their snickers long enough for Roy to be out of earshot. "I think some of my friends have brothers and sisters in first year who they can introduce you to if you want to come sit in my compartment," Judoc commented, his tone seeming to imply that it'd also be a good place to stay out of trouble. Nolan just shook his head. "I can manage. Besides I want to see more of this train. I'll see you on the boats," he said as he headed off, unaware that only the first years took the boats to the castle. He wandered up and down the corridor a bit, disappointed to find that the Hogwarts Express, despite it's magic environment, behaved like any other train. He came across a compartment empty of all but one boy with his kitten. This seemed like as good a place as any. "Hey, you mind if I sit here? I promise not to fall asleep and snore the whole time, or get motion sickness, or unload all my family drama on you." Even as he said this, he began to shove his trunk under the seat across from the boy and tossed his backpack onto the seat.
Name: Nolan Archer Nickname(s): Gender: Male Age: 11 House: Slytherin Appearance: He is light skinned and tends to burn rather easily in the sun despite the time he spends outdoors. He keeps his hair generally short, not liking the feel of it being able to touch his face or ears. He is of average height and build for his age, having not quite started growing yet. He is active and so is on the leaner side. Wand: 11 1/2 inches, Maple with Unicorn Hair, reasonably supple Pet: Black-banded owl named Fletch he shares with Roy and Judoc Strengths: Nolan is excellent at managing his time. While he has to put in plenty of effort into his school work, it robs him of much less of his own time than it would take others. He can work hard and smart enough to make sure he has time to reward himself for his hard work. His resolve helps him out well in this as he has no problem sacrificing his fun in order to do what he needs to do. He is social enough, and for the most part people seem to just like him. He is also fairly athletic and skilled on a broomstick. Weaknesses: Nolan is a slow learner, as mentioned and he has to put more effort into anything he does. He has to work harder to get a B than most do to get an A. He can be insecure at times, hating to be compared to anyone. This also makes him competitive as he feels the need to prove to himself that his skill is worth something. He lacks perspective as well, often putting more effort into something than it's worth. He holds a grudge. Personality: As the youngest of five brothers, he's grown to hate being compared to them, but sees their successes as proof that it's impossible he won't succeed as well. While he seems to lack any of the natural talents his brothers like to show off, he's very proud of the fact that everything he obtains is a result of his hard work (although a little help from family does go a long way). He resents those who's victories come easily to them (what? no, not including his brothers of course....) He doesn't quite know what he wants yet, but he knows he will get it. He's focused traits instilled in him by his father and also very competitive. He is energetic, unable to really be idle for too long. The way he sees it, there's always work to be done or fun to be had. Growing up with four brothers ensures he's made of some tougher stuff. He's never aggressive, but he knows how to take an insult and physically hold his own. History:Nolan was born to a muggle father and a witch mother. Growing up a half-blood, he felt he got to see the best of both worlds. Being the youngest of five, he came into the family well after his father had grown used to the magical world. Being the youngest also meant that he was often fighting for attention. He was an energetic little kid and he often got in trouble. He has often been compared to his older brothers, never negatively but always in a way that suggest anything he does will not stand out among their talents and accomplishments. When he started school in the Muggle world, it became very clear that he was not the quickest learner. It took him twice the effort to understand concepts that the other children managed to master in what seemed like no time at all to him. His parents, growing concerned for his education enrolled him in after school classes to help him keep pace. He didn't complain, if this was what it took to live up to his family's and his own expectations, well that was fine. With all the extra time he spent on schoolwork, he grew to really relish his free time. He became a fan of sports of both worlds. After all the stories, he is ready for Hogwarts. The idea of being on the Quidditch team excites him, but he'll find friends to play football with if not. He's ready to learn what he can about magic as well as the secrets of the school. NPCs: Roy Archer: Older brother, fifth year Ravenclaw. He is a talented artist as well as good thinker with excellent skills in Transfiguration. He is rather arrogant and has a new girl on his arm every few weeks. Judoc Archer: Older brother, seventh year Gryffindor. Chaser on the Quidditch team. He's not the most social but has a circle of very close friends who he has asked to help him keep an eye on Nolan. Wanting to either become an Auror or make broomsticks. Gus Archer*: Older brother, travelling and doing charity work Tidus Archer*: Older brother, Obliviator Liviana Archer*: Mother, Obliviator. Kind and supportive though rather absent-minded and not very good at reading people Thomas Archer*: Father, Muggle journalist. Strict and concerned. Can be critical when he sees his sons "not trying hard enough," but otherwise very proud of all of them. *won't be seen much, of course
Unless we are still hashing things out with your character in a PM, you may totally start playing at Kings Cross!
So I can take this to mean that since no one has brought up a problem with my character it means he's accepted? I assumed so but I just hadn't heard anything for sure lol
Also, wasn't Flitwick head of Ravenclaw? I don't think Binns could be head of anything, he's so detached from the student body.
Not the only body he's detached from :D
Diego walked onto the deck of the ship, having gotten his bags. He walked over to the railing, Eevee and Lombre on his heels. Sure enough Sharpedo and Skrelp had made it just fine. They looked up at him expectantly out of the water, Sharpedo impatiently swimming around in circles. With a laugh, Diego recalled the two to their Pokeballs. Lombre tugged at the leg of his shorts, gesturing to its stomach. Diego's own stomach growled, reminding him how hungry he was. He nodded and recalled Eevee and Lombre in a flash of red light. As he made his way off the boat, a breeze blew making him feel the cold on his bare arms. He certainly wasn't in Hoenn anymore. He pulled out a bright green hoodie and put it on over his black tank not bothering to zip it up as it wasn't THAT chilly. He went into Sandgem Town making a mental note of the location of the Pokemon center for later. He then wandered over to a produce market. Releasing Eevee and Lombre once more he asked, "All right, so what sounds good?" With a loud "Veeeee!" Eevee bounded over to one particular stand of berries. Diego looked down at Lombre who merely shrugged. "I guess Eevee decided for us then, huh?" he said with a laugh. The two followed Eevee and bought an assortment of berries and continued on to search for a stand for more food to last them until the next town. Diego wasn't quite sure where they were going but he figured they'd get some idea before the next morning. "Get out of here! Go on! These aren't for you!" They turned to see a Pidgeotto being chased away from a stand. Eevee grabbed a berry out of the handful that Lombred had been carrying and ran over to the bird Pokemon offering it the berry. "Eeveer come back!" Diego called, "You don't even know if that Pidgeotto is friendly!" Luckily it was friendly enough and the Eevee has soon set the berry down before it. "Where'd you come from? Wild Pokemon don't usually act like this. Where's you trainer?"
Just as a note, I plan to have Nolan eventually (and I mean like 2nd/3rd year) have a subject sort of "click" and have that be his specialty. It'll likely be potions.
"This should be fun" Full Name: Diego Pike Nickname(s): None Gender: Male Age: 17 Birthday: July 15th Astrological Sign: Scorpio Starter Pokemon: Lotad Team: Sharpedo, Skrelp, Lombre, Eevee Legend: Water Trainer Class: - Hometown, Region: Slateport City, Hoenn Personality: Diego is relaxed and laid back. He trusts that things will work out and is rarely seen showing negative emotion. He is a friendly social guy and is always willing to spend time with someone or try something new. Despite his relaxed nature, he has a sharp eye and mind... when he chooses to pay attention. While more focused on the experiences to be had with his Pokemon, he's a decent battler and did okay in his only contest. There's very little that drives him to anger, but lack of basic respect for people or Pokemon is one thing he cannot stand. Small Biography: Diego grew up in Slateport City, spending all of his free time at the beach. He fell in love with being in the water from an early age. When he was seven, his older brother gave him a Lotad egg to take care. The pokemon and Diego took an instant liking to each other, Lotad becoming his companion to the beach, the market and everything in between. Diego took up surfing, his Lotad of course riding every wave with him. When Diego turned 12, the two took off to explore Hoenn, mostly the eastern half. They learned to battle and got to now the region well. Looking for some adventure, Diego travelled to Unova though his time there consisted of a trip to Undella Town before being given a ticket to Sinnoh by an old woman who couldn't make the trip herself. Never one to turn down an opportunity for something new, he accepted and made his way to Sinnoh. Power: Liquification - Diego can melt into a water-like form and move around a bit, letting squeeze through tight spaces. He can join with other bodies of water and move much more quickly through them as well as assert some direct control over a small area around his liquid form. Themesong: Aqueous Transmission - Incubus Other:
