I really don't think that Jasper will be redeeming herself, at least any time soon. As we saw, she was after Lapis in order to fuse again. She doesn't see Fusion like the Gems do. To her, Fusion is only an increase of power. I don't feel bad for her at all. The beef between Jasper and Lapis seems like some sort of abusive relationship. Yes, Jasper is a horrible individual, and supposedly Lapis is as well/was at some point an even worse person, but the two have this warped bond that keeps them in each other's minds, thinking about the other and wanting to feel the power rush that is Malachite. Lapis know's that it's a bad idea. She refuses to go back into that relationship with Jasper, even though she wants so. She knows how much power they'd get, but at the cost of her own sanity and personality.
with fusion on the mind, I'm also thinking back to Peridot. Peridot almost fused with Garnet. For whatever reason, something was stuck in her mind, and she quickly refused to do it. As revealed this week, Peridot cannot shapeshift. Era-2 Peridot's are not made the same as Era-1 Peridots are, and because of the dwindling resources of Homeworld, shortcuts had to be taken. Peridot cannot shapeshift. Normally, I'd go into things, but her not being able to bend her physical form like the other gems do does bring some things into question. Because of this, it doens't seem like she'd be able to fuse either. Maybe she was scared that Garnet would find out that she can't even fuse, letting people down even more than she already has. I don't know for sure, but it's something to think about.
So, with this episode, we can get a pretty good idea as to the basics of what happened during the first steps on earth and the first gem war. Like other planets (probably), Homeworld set down on Earth to colonize it and use it to create more Gemkind. This was met with resistance by both the humans and those who sought to protect Earth from the chaos that Homeworld had wrought before to other planets. When Homeworld realized that it was a loosing battle, they sent out a nuke in an attempt to wipe Earth from Gem history, so nobody would ever realize what resistance Homeworld faced on earth, and how they almost lost. This nuke, however, was not to kill. It corrupted all of Gemkind who could feel its effects, Homeworld hoping that the corrupted Gems would be able to take out the humans for them, leaving the earth lost and alone.
Rose's shield saved her and the crystal gems from the corruption, and the remains of the rebellion did what they could to bubble all of the corrupted gems and keep the earth safe.
@PeacelessWell, I can't just tell people that they have to talk here to be in the RP, but I feel like just talking in general should be able to get something started while I cook up the first post.
