The only belittling of torture here would probably making things look worse than they actually are.
Such as:
The Executioner had the victim set up beside the rack as he prepped the guillotine overhead. This particular victim would get the worst torture yet....
The Guillotine came down on a lemon wedge the executioner then placed into his honey tea and the rack near the victim a maid was setting dishes to dry. The Executioner then took a seat in the armchair across from the victim, put on his reading spectacles and set the tea down beside him. From the table beside him he drew out the book; Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. The Victim began to scream and the executioner opened the book.
"Chapter one..."

A hooded figure with tufts of pink hair poking out from under her hood popped up from her spot in the ground, her foot tapping restlessly. She saw the Libra group start to take off. Only four members! Now was her chance! She dove under the arms of several tall, stoic looking men and women to run up to the retreating group. She finally caught up with them and walked behind them as they went on to their next location, looking around nervously.

A wanted poster of a pink haired girl was on the board as they pass, Dead or Alive 'for the illegal practice and trade of magic.' The hooded figure let out a small squeak and ran ahead to the board quickly, ripping it down. She looked around quickly, anxious and tore it in half before stuffing the poster in her pack. She looked around to make sure no one had noticed. She ran back to the group, going to the head, some sort of Holy knight by the look of him. She gently moved her hood back and looked up at him, her loosely braided pink hair falling all about.

"Aaah, Hi, I'm Er-..." Best not use her real name. "Spark!" Nailed it. "Yeah, I'm Spark, I've been commissioned late to work with you, just got my orders filled out and WHOOP here I am gosh is it hot in here? I'd take off my cloak but unfortunately I have like WAAAAYY amounts of cleavage and I'd cut back and forth between being too hot and too cold if I take the cloak on and off and I hear you can get sick from that, I dunno what do you think? I think it's a dumb design and like blankets I always end up with one foot hanging off the bed from being too warm and too cold simultaneously and can't find a good medium, yeah huh?"
She spoke like she was late for a track meet, her voice going several miles per hour in a short amount of time.

Well, I guess for now I'll just post up a character sheet vuv

Name: Elizabeth Spark
Age: 24
Gender: Femme

Personality: Elizabeth just can't sit down. She's always bursting with energy and has to be on the move. Sitting still for too long can cause massive muscle spasms and quite possibly endangering all around her with the amount of energy she has to give. That aside, she can have her more calmer moments. In general shes overly optimistic and hyperactive to a T. She can see everyone around her being stoic at times and does her best to make the most of every situation. Yet she's the one always getting into the worst situations, getting caught in things she shouldn't be doing. She does have a sad past but she believes in always looking forward.

Biography:

Orphaned at the age of three when an attack hit her home, killing both her parents, Elizabeth was taken into an orphanage. While she was raised in the monastery the orphanage was held in, she always had a knack for adventuring out on her own. Any chance she got she'd run away, hopping on the backs of wagons and sometimes disappearing for days at a time. Some of the children would follow her, nervously, wanting an adventure of their own; although she was the only one who had the heart for it. She stole what she needed to eat, and was usually pretty good at not being caught. One day though, she finally was apprehended--three villages over from the orphanage. This occurred when she was eleven years old, stealing from a shop illegally selling books on magic.

The shopkeeper didn't alert the authorities, fearing he would get in trouble for the wares he sold. Instead, he made a bargain with her. If she came back to work for him he would allow her boarding upstairs. Without a second thought she agreed, never returning to the orphanage. She worked in the shop ignorantly selling magic books and items. When she got bored, she would read through the books, learning all the spells, the ones she took the liking to the most were the elemental spells. She also read about the Magic Knights and decided, one day, that she would continue the adventure with them... and that meant learning magic, and swordsmanship. For those next few years she rigorously studied elemental magic and begged the knights that passed through the village to teach her to fight, and defend herself. When she was fifteen she had enough experience just by studying the leather bound novels that she decided to go out in the middle of a lightning storm to attempt to control the bolts of electricity. With the will power, she managed to bend it into her will... before being struck by the lightning.

Bedridden for several days, Elizabeth came down with a nasty fever. By the end of the week she could barely stomach meager amounts of food... and she noticed her energy had intensified. Ever since being bolted with the lightning, she couldn't sit still. She found she could now manipulate the lightning, as though on that stormy night she had asked for its power. And it had been granted.

While the shopkeeper that had taken her in gradually started to fade with age, she was outside, running around, playing with lightning and learning to fight with the many knights in the village. She was becoming her own warrior, and she loved it... So when the shopkeeper died, it came as a shock. Everything in the shop was taken-and then investigated. Then she was questioned about the magic he had been selling, much to her surprise. She had no idea that for all those years of her life she had been doing anything wrong or illegal. Elizabeth had no idea the responsibility that had been laid on her shoulders.

She was chased, the knights attempting to apprehend her as for the illegal practice and trade of magic outside of the Guilds. She runs now to the Guild, in hopes to be chosen, somehow, to be amongst the Magic Knights. And even if she isn't... she'll just become the most hidden stowaway yet.

Arsenal: One shield, Three blades: One is just for handling along with a shield, the other two are dual wielded for extreme offense. Lightning curls up her blades when she fights, delivering a minor shock to her opponents that strike against it.
