I'm stickin' around
She was caught off guard by his sudden and firm grip on her wrist, but she wasn't about to step out of something she had already agreed to. He didn't even give her time to brace for the pain, the cut made her flinch, but luckily the man's grip held firm. Suddenly he cut his own palm and held her bleeding hand in his like a handshake. She felt a strange sensation as if his blood was pushing into her hand?

As the man told her the instructions, she silently nodded as she took mental notes of what she needed to do. Stop a convoy huh... She thought. She looked at him straight in the face, "I'll accept." she responded firmly, just as she felt a strange warmth rush through her body.. She didn't know what it was, but it was definitely something that wasn't normal. She wasn't about to regret her decision and she felt that she wouldn't regret it either. She took mental notes of the numbers that he gave her, making some sort of strategy in her head. Of course it involved eliminating the scouts. She felt that the scouts should always be removed so she can focus on the pack. But how would she stop a caravan that large? A few ideas came to mind.

She followed after him, wanting to ask him a few questions. She kept silent and watchful as they walked. She noticed that he was walking a little heavier now, leaving dull footprints in the thin layer of dirt on the road, but she didn't know why. She knew it was on purpose though. She wordlessly watched as the man picked the lock of a pottery and ceramics shop, she slipped in after him with similar nimbleness, quietly closing the door behind them. She joined him on the second story of the building only to see him staring out the window, to what she made out to be the depot and barracks. She stayed a little further back in the room, away from the window.

"You wouldn't happen to know where I can get some fire crackers, would you?" She inquired with a slightly hushed voice. Fire crackers were uncommon, even rare among common folk and they were often produced within the shadier part of Azure Strand. Her mother once show her how to use fire crackers to scare people, it was all in good fun. But this time it was to serve a more sinister purpose.
Ellie's cheeks flashed a light shade of red for a moment as the smaller girl called her 'pretty'. "Oh my. Nobody's ever said that to me before. Usually all I get is 'Wow you're really tall'." She responded with soft laughter. It made her a little sour though, that nobody had ever said that to her until now. It's not like she cared very much about her appearance, but a compliment like that was more than welcome. She playfully smirked at Evelyn, "Making you feel a little shy? I thought you were being shy the whole time~" The smirked turned to a smile when the girl expressed interest in moonlight. Moonlight was something that Ellie loved. She felt like she could stare at the moon for the whole night and all of her worries would just fade away.

"I suppose it's a 'lazy' that I can tolerate~" She chuckled as the dragoon fell asleep. The yawn was contagious, causing Ellie to yawn as well. She hadn't expected the dragoon to be so comfortable around them, but she assumed it was natural since they were brought together by what some would call 'fate'.

She was about to speak again when she heard shouts from outside, hearing 'Stafford' among the shouts. She hastily got up saying, "I'll be back in a moment." before rushing out of the library. By now it was late afternoon and the sun was beginning to lower in the sky. It was one of the messengers from the barracks, he looked exhausted. His eyes met Ellie's and he promptly ran up to her in relief. "Ma'am, we have news from the scouts." Ellie couldn't believe her ears. "From the scouts? We sent them out months ago. They were assumed to have perished." She responded in disbelief. "One of the scouts survived.. almost. His last words were.. 'Rock Beasts.'.. Apparently they're headed toward the kingdom. I was told that this was urgent news for you, Captain." Thankfully, there were no bystanders to listen in on their conversation.

Perhaps this is what they were meant to fight? That can't be right. However the sighting of these 'rock.. beasts' was alarming and it sounded as though they were heading straight for the kingdom from the mountains. Such creatures shouldn't exist, but the strange magic readings had a clear connection to them. Perhaps they were Golems? But those weren't meant to exist anymore with the disappearance of the deities... Or so the history books say.

"Prepare the troops for an incoming attack. Be on alert for the next few months, we don't know when they'll strike, but I'm sure they will. I will be taking a small task force with me in order to intercept them, if you do not receive a messenger pigeon from me within a 5 months, assume I am dead and increase the kingdom's defenses facing north. Also.. Try keep this under wraps for as long as you can. We don't want the citizens to panic." She ordered, before letting the messenger go back to the barracks. She stood there in the open for a while, contemplating how she was going to go about intercepting the monsters.
Name: Ahmal Ervallen

Race: Fairy

Gender: Male

Age: 10

Birthday: 21th of Saffra 290 DM

Birthplace: Islahiise (Silvermist)

Resides in: Silent Rise

Occupation: Ebonknight (Scout Squadron), Silent Hunter

Appearance:

Personality:
Ahmal is a rather quiet soul, preferring to stand back and watch, rather than be the center of attention. However he will only intervene if he felt that something ‘wasn’t right’ by his instincts. He’s a rational thinker and is sometimes quite literal, so he often finds it hard to understand sarcasm or jokes. Despite his quiet nature, he is able to hold proper conversations.

History:
Ahmal is the youngest of 6 siblings. From a very young age, Ahmal was very adventurous. Ever since he could fly, he’d often wander off by himself down to Silent Rise and quietly observe people. He’d often write notes about people’s mannerisms as they worked. At around 2 years old, he started to follow Silent Rise hunters around the forest, observing their work from the tree branches above.

On one of his usual days of following a hunter through the forest, the hunter noticed his presence, skillfully catching Ahmal as he tried to escape. The Avien questioned Ahmal’s motives, only to find out Ahmal’s curiosity and potential to become a hunter. After some negotiation with the his parents, the Avien took Ahmal under his ‘wing’, and taught the young fairy various hunting techniques. Most which included the art of camouflage, patience and a readied bow. By the time he had reached adulthood, he was a fully fledged hunter and was, of course, independent of his mentor. The use of poison on his arrows was something that he had learnt from another hunter whom he had met on one of his hunting trips.

At the age of 9, Ahmal had made quite a name for himself as one of the uncommon Hunter Fairies. He caught the interest of one of the Ebonknight Lieutenant's after he had given them a rather detailed observation of the road ahead as the brigade was getting ready to set out. Warning them of the dangers along the path at that current time. This information had proven to be true at some excruciating detail. Ahmal was given an invitation to participate in the Knight's Tournament, which he accepted. Fortunately for him, the tourney was set in a forest, which gave him a bigger advantage over his peers. His ambush tactics and overall performance caught the attention of one of the lieutenants, and thus, Ahmal was given a recommendation and a place in the Scout Squadron.

To most of Rilana's questions and statements, Alya gave a rather excited nod and a bright smile. She knew that it would use up too much time to bring out her writing utensils to respond, as the Moon Fey had stated. When their brief 'conversation' had ended, Alya, with the help of an irritated Lyle, saddled onto a ram which was supposedly hers. Since she was extremely light, the ram didn't seem to notice that she had even gotten on.

Lyle clicked his tongue when the Moon Fey greeted him with a plastered on smile. "Tch. Bloody foreigners.." He mumbled as he saddled onto a ram. Alya's keen hearing caused her to whip her head around to give Lyle a slight glare, to which Lyle responded with a another irritated tongue click as he gulped from his flask again.

Alya was quite excited when the expedition group moved out, but her excitement slowly faded into a feeling neutrality as they moved continuously without much change in scenery. As the coniferous environment changed to a deciduous forest, Alya felt a chill go down her spine, but she didn't give it any extra thought, thinking that it was just a chill from the weather. It was quite dark, that much Alya could tell, but she couldn't discern anything beyond that. Echo, however, growled nervously but overall he seemed very confused. His Wolf mother noticed his actions and clicked her fingers twice. Immediately, Echo leapt onto her lap but he remained nervous still keeping a low growling noise.

Perhaps she should play some music to soothe everyone? But then she remembered what Trix had said about the Ebonknights and the disappearances of Mages. So she refrained from even lifting her flute to her lips, just in case they somehow catch on that she has magic.

She had never seen a Goyle, nor an Aaenshi before, but she wasn't about to go and greet them. One of them looked as black as night and the other looked like he could use a month soaking in a bath. She decided to ignore their presence as the short knight started to speak. Most of his instructions were pretty straight forward, and she started to mentally jot down notes of what they're setting out to do. Megumi was a little unsure about this whole expedition, since they didn't even know if the city was real or not. But an adventure nonetheless, also the rewards would be great. On the statement of bloodlust, she felt that it would be easy for her to suppress it, since she wasn't really there to kill a lot, but she would if she needed to.

She paused for a moment, realizing that she was the only one that didn't have a mount. She heard a strange voice speak to her, she turned, only to see the man on the giant beetle offering her a ride. She smirked cheekily at him, "That would be wonderful." She replied as she took his hand, getting up onto the beetle. She leaned in closer to the hunter, her body just about against his back, her arms around his rather toned body. "My name's Megumi. I'll be in your care~" She replied quietly into his ear. Might as well be closely acquainted to at least one of the group members, to ensure she's not left behind.
