You know, I should make more warm, crisp, New York style bagels with an soon and smear them in cream cheese, then top them with thin sliced onions, capers, and smoked salmon... Anyone want one? ;D

Bio

Greetings and salutations, my friends!

I am the Revenant Writer, but you may call me Reven, or really whatever you would like (within reason and good manners, thank you), and I am nineteen years of age.

I am very diverse in my interests, so I enjoy doing practically everything from hiking to horse riding, currently own a small farm, am an animal whisperer, an artist, a great cook, an entrepreneur, and am working steadily to bring to life my many stories in the form of books, graphic novels, and eventually video games, films and TV.

I am intrigued by most genres, including slice of life, action/adventure, sci-fi, fantasy, supernatural, gothic, steampunk, alternate universes, and on. Dark and gritty, more realistic themes are my preference, and I will practically curse many of my characters with misfortune when appropriate, but I am open to most all ideas.

Some romance is fine with me, and I will go fairly far with it, but I do draw the line at writing intimacy and am not interested in the lovingly nicknamed 'smut'. Just not my cup of tea. So, thank you for the interest... but, no, just no.

Mid-Casual and up is my preference, with world building, plot and character development being of utmost importance. I ONLY RP in third-person and find first-person not only confusing, but extremely awkward.

Currently, I am mainly interested in doing 1x1 and small group. PM me if you are interested in starting something.

Best regards,
-Reven

Hi, is this RP still open? If so, I have a few questions about the plot and such. The fact that it is about Firefly was enough to draw my interest, but I'm always a bit wary of fandoms.

Thanks,
-Reven

Still in, just going to take me a bit to finish my characters. I am working nine hour days currently, and on top of that have a farm which I work a few hours each day and more on weekends, so I don't have a lot of free time...

Anyway, great characters, Dark. I like what you have on the Engineern about not letting her make drones. LOL
@RBYDark That makes sense. I only brought it up because I did not want anyone feeling bullied. I tend to take over stories with my grandiose ideas, and everyone else steps aside to make way.

Eek, my mouth hurts just thinking about those wires... And if it is an important part of your character's identity, go ahead, bring in the teleporter!

In answer to your questions, A) heck yeah! B) Na, totally different. Fo you have a character in mind with these technological enhancements?

I would think that having small implants (like a communicator behind your ear, microchip in your wrist that you can scan to pay for things, etc.) would not be exactly uncommon, especially for those with a little more cash to spend. But the larger and more complex prosthetics would be costly, even the knock-off and salvaged ones costing an arm and a leg, making them more of a rarity. Plus, though I think some would improve a humans' performance, I doubt that the majority of them could give anything near 'superhuman' abilities.

Hey, thanks for letting me have the genetic mutation. I do appreciate it, as many times, I've found that if one person adds something unusual to their character, everyone will use it too. Not that you can't use it at all, as I do not mind if one of you have a character with a little something going on, I just would not want everyone like that. Takes away from the fun.
@RBYDark Wow there, my word is not law! Not here, at least. So if you really want something, say it. I'm not an ogre, I occasionally compromise. But I will except your engineer's thanks, either way.

Whichever. I'm exited to see and read your characters, but work at your own pace. I know I am taking my sweet time with it, as I am the only one here not to have posted a character yet. I will have something for you guys soon, though, just have some complicated back stories to write out which are taking longer than I wanted.
@RBYDark

Oh, and I forgot to mention: yay on FTL drives, nay on teleporting. :P
@RBYDark

Yeah, it always takes a bit to get back into the flow of drawing after a hiatus.

Funny that you ask! Before jumping online it came to mind that I should ask the exact same question of you two, so I was about to write it when I read your post... Great minds think alike, wouldn't you say? X)

Here are some ideas-
1) It would be interesting if humans thought they had made true, 'living' AI a long while back, but it ended up just being so well programmed that it resembled life. Maybe they can pass the Turing test up until the questioning gets complex and based on the android's personal opinions, where as they begin to have processing trouble because they are unable to form an opinion of their own. This would be due to their cognitive processing taking things at face value and not being able to grasp ideas outside the box, being that they are unable to comprehend anything other than plane facts and can not handle abstract thought.
2) We could have never even come close to creating life like AI, but instead have only human looking/feeling helpers and companions with set dialogue and command systems. They would be like the NPCs in most video games: useless in conversation unless extensively coded for it, actions dictated by an inner clock and your interactions with them, handy for only what they have been programmed for.
3) Now, they could be 'living', conscious, and self-aware. Like in the movie 'A.I.' (If you haven't seen it, do), humans do not believe any android could be 'living' or have feelings, and thus, in some cases, treat them horribly. They are owned, used for work and are generally seen as useful, but certainly not part of human society.

Personally, I would like a mix of 1 and 2, as with us already having genetic mutation of humans, I think it could be a little much to have androids sauntering about.

Also, dibs on some genetic mutation for a character, and no making it a trend! Pretty please?

Oh, and I do not mind at all if you have the engineer and a security person. :)
@RBYDark

Eah... I can never find the 'Perfect Photo' either and just end up settling. Not a good thing to do, trust me.

I like your drawing and info on Red, though. Very expressive, and they give you a good idea of his character.
@Nevix

OBJECTION!!!

Heh, just kidding. But I am curious as to whether you mean your character would be both medic and first mate or one of them?

I ask because, in my opinion, both are quite important and large jobs for one person to handle. Especially if you think of the amount of responsibility placed on their sholders if the Captain is unable to- well, captain. That job would fall to the First Mate. If you then concider the possibility that the Captain or another crew member is injured at that time, they would have to both care for their patients and run the ship.

Edit: I did not see that we already had a second page (yippee!), so I replied to your older post.

Oz looks like a great character, and I am interested in seeing how your first female works out. Do not worry about the male/female ratio, though, as am already planning two.

Now, I am wondering about the 'uniform' you showed for Oz and think we should probably talk about dress so we are all on the same page.
@RBYDark A good point. I wasn't really looking forward to alien design either.

No worries about time. It will probably take me awhile to get all my character stuff together, too. I'll try to post some character stuff as soon as I can, just have to write it!

Oh, I was just kidding about that! Sorry for not saying so. I am actually the least squeamish person I know (born without a gag-reflex! Jk), so whatever gore you though at me, I can take it.

As for the pictures, I'll admit that one of the reasons I asked if we could use photos was just because I was going to use them. You drawing your characters changes everything, so if you can find the time and want too, go right ahead. In addition, I think I am going to take some time out and draw my characters, or at least the main ones. I never have for an RP, and I think it's about time I try it.
@RBYDark What a jerk. I'm glad I have a sister and not a brother, but I guess sisters can and will be just as bad. *rolls eyes* Well, anyway, what I was going to say about it was that we could use some elements from the general society in it, and on the same line, lessen the alien influences? For instance, maybe there are only a handful of other intelligent species because of the wars before humans got on the scene.

LOL. Good luck with the glitchy highjacking then! (...Hope your ship doesn't blow up. XD )

Wow. You draw them? Very cool. Go ahead and draw them if you'd like, then, I wouldn't want to stop the creative process! I would draw my characters, too, but I lack the time, especially seeing as I spend any drawing time I find to practice for my eventual graphic novels. Oh, and great little bio. I just started the pilot's.

Eek, those were, ah, very pleasant pictures... O_o
As for suggestions, I do some basic photo editing for my characters, so if you did find him, I could add facial scaring if you wanted. It's an old injury now, correct?
