I have an idea. Can you draw up that pictograph for me on a scrap of paper?

I can. What do you think we should try? Would "open" work again?
<Snipped quote by Revolutionary>

Unless they plain didn't finish. But based off of what I've gathered from their pottery, they would have finished something as elaborate as a secret entrance last.

*Taps my chin*
Well, I won't do it unless you also think it's worth a shot. Damaging these items without a proper payoff wouldn't be so great.
<Snipped quote by Revolutionary>

I'm no fan of vandalizing the remains of ancient societies, but... I think I'm at the point of suspending my disbelief for the day.

It does feel wrong. But there has to be so much more to see here than a dark, empty tunnel, right?
<Snipped quote by Revolutionary>

A canvas? As in, they didn't finish it?

Or intentionally left unfinished. What if we were to add a word in their language ourselves? It's the only thing different about this one from the one before.
<Snipped quote by Revolutionary>

You said it was "open," right?
*Clicks my flashlight on and off*
When water poured over that word, the passage opened. For this one, water poured onto an empty square, and we're still at a dead end.

I wonder if it's like a blank canvas?...
<Snipped quote by Revolutionary>

Just a square, then? Why would the other one have text, but not this one?

It's symbolic of something, maybe?
*Shines the light at the wall and around the area to look for anything useful*
<Snipped quote by Revolutionary>

It doesn't have the same word inscribed in the stone.

Well, it's not even a word, actually. At least not one I recognize.
<Snipped quote by Revolutionary>

Whatever it is, it's not working. Do you think this one broke down over time?

It's possible. It also just might not work the same way.
<Snipped quote by Revolutionary>

To hide something, or to honor someone.
*Pours the water onto the bowl, but nothing happens*

*Frowns*
Maybe, but it doesn't explain the difficulty of access.
<Snipped quote by Revolutionary>

It could.
*Takes a water bottle out of my pack*
I wonder what these people were trying to do.

The obvious answer would be to hide something. Why else would there be such elaborate ways to gain access?
