How about the whole 'Bowl Idea' is what the mortals of our world believe that's what their world looks like?
Hmmm... Building on that, maybe the "bowl" is the main continent of the world, and the mountains surrounding it are so tall that everyone just assumes it's the edge of the world? And the people outside the "bowl" initially don't really try to get inside because they believe it was made by the impact of a falling deity or something and thus is cursed land. Hmmm...
Just random ideas, I guess.
I am tempted to suggest that rather than be a globe, the world should be... Like, a giant bowl if that makes sense. With a ring of mountains around the edge. I'm not entirely sure why but it's 04:35 so that might explain it. ^^;

Um... Think you're a little confused there since all that we'd mentioned about dark elves is that they're good in comparison to the high elves, and that they like meat. All that other stuff was going to be for something else, wasn't it?
