Milo Ventri

Milo was trying to get himself ready for bed at this point, the day had been a pretty normal one, a few customers dropped by the shop to give some requests, all of which he was perfectly happy to take. Milo spent the afternoon into the evening just working on personal projects, trying to get his practice swords back into order as he had been going to the gym to practice with the local longswording group that he had found. How many days had he had where nothing passed and he just seemed to do nothing for the entirety? The weekends events left him craving some excitement, and every time he thought about it, he thought about how Paige always seemed to have something exciting going on, if he didn't enjoy smithing as much, police work would have been cool too.

Milo laid in bed that night, tank top and gym shorts, the heat in his home not handling the cold outside as well as he would like it to. he had headphones in as he used his phone to listen to music while he tried to fall asleep, however the sharp tone of his notification ringer cut the song he had going, he pulled his phone up to his face only to get blinded by the backlight, once he focused on it, it was a text from Paige, pretty late to be texting him but he was actually happy to see it, they had texted a bit through the week, so it wasn't horribly strange, until he read it, Come over. Milo wasn't dumb, that was a text that meant there was an issue, Milo got out of bed and hopped into his truck, whatever was going on he had a feeling it was bad.

Milo arrived shortly after the police and the paramedics, the squads were all in front the apartments that Paige was living at. He got into the building and made his way to the floor she stayed on and went to her door only to be met by a police officer, "'Fraid this is an active crime scene, off limits to the public." Milo looked over his shoulder and could see paramedics,

"Look I'm here for Paige, she called me to come here, is she alright?" Milo asked the officer while he pulled out his phone to try and show the officer the message, however it didn't seem to be really necessary the officers at this point knew that he and Paige were close, so he just waved his hand and just let Milo in. The scene was a mess, blood everywhere, things were broken and glass was all over the floor, a body was being examined on the floor, with a familiar knife laying bloody on the floor. He walked further until he heard some murmuring, he looked over to see Paige crumpled up on the floor with Paramedics looking her over. he went to her side quickly and knelt down next her, he put a hand on her knee and the other to move some of the bloody hair from her face. "Paige... What happened? Who did this? Jesus..." the paramedic was going over her wounds as Milo tried to coax words from her, "Tell me what you need, anything you want." Milo felt a strange fear in his chest, she looked bad, blood from her head still dripping, she looked like she had been coughing it up as well, that wasn't good, likely a punctured lung. he looked at her with deep concern, after everything that happened, he didn't want it to end with a death.

Hell... wasn't the worst place he had ever been, Walt had seen some of the shittiest places that earth had to offer, at least here, things were straight forward, no one trying to weasel their way into good graces under false pretenses, no subterfuge by conniving siblings or jealous parents, it was actually not a place he minded being in. BLAM! a demon fell silent, a hole in the forehead, this was not a place he wanted to be in anymore, spirits were one thing but murderous demons, no, not today. Walt held his pistol at the ready now, as he had no intention of being killed for real, no matter what he had to stay alive, too much left to do. Walt could hear fighting all over the place he could even see in the distance a dragon like humanoid fighting a large dog, he shook his head, not getting in the middle of that mess.

Walt kept moving along the road, it looked like his usual grounds in the undercity, the amount of spirits here was greater than the other places, but as he moved, he started to approach a hotel that he had frequented from time to time, but as he approached he was confronted by a pair of humanoid demons, spikes protruding from all over and large wings spread from their backs.

"Death comes for you today mortal. We will tear you limb from limb!" the demon hissed at him as the took false swipes at him and gnashed their mangled fangs. Walt looked at them unimpressed, as he pulled his pistol up and fanned the hammer twice, letting loosed two rounds of blinding light, as they hit the demons they howled in pain as the burned and fell to ash.

"Not wise to piss off an enchanter, holy bullets are a real pain to a lot of things." Walt chuckled as he pushed open the door to the hotel and walked in, he opened the cylinder of his gun and put new rounds in. "Two days of just chilling out in a hotel and then I go home, whats the worst that could happen?" Walt asked, tempting fate.

Walt looked around as Death spoke, dead well he would be lying if he hadn't been expecting to go sooner or later but he had a lot of things on his list to do. A quick survey of the field told him that the big guy talking with death was tough and important, so likely heavily targeted, the pretty one looked too volatile and the two that tried to be pleasant, too trusting, not a soul here so far that he thought might keep him alive, at least he had Avaline.

Walt went ahead and just decided to head into what appeared to just be ring city, though Death seemed pretty serious about the whole he'll thing. "Sure glad to be dead." He said with a chuckle as he passed Gabby and Liam.

Walt was already a good distance from the jewelry store, he hadn't seen any heightened alert so he figured the associate had just figured he couldn't take the smell and then left himself, it wasn't like the worst smell, more like a really bad fish. Walt set himself down at a table in the food court, he took off his jacket and flipped up the collar, "Gotta keep it safe, don't need a random Drow pat down." he muttered to himself as he stared to enchant the studs under the collar and stick his invisible bounty to them. Walt was always impressed with himself, he had to alter his clothes to make the most of his magic, and he tended to carry small stones around now, but for a transporter like him, it was a small price to pay.

Walt took a moment after getting his coat back on to look about there were lots of people around, more people than he expected even for a mall opening, ring city was quite the bustlong metropolis. He got up and snagged a couple slices of pizza from a nearby court restaurant, before sitting down to people watch, there were so many people, it was always interesting to see who you'll find.

Milo listened to What Vika was saying, for some reason she seemed to be hinting at something some miracle cure, something that may help her out, that would be wonderful for her, she would be able to shed the insecurities of her illness and really start coming back to the person she told him she used to be. Milo wondered if he would want to be with her then? Did he really want to be with her now? Before he could even really say anything, she had already started to head back to her car, they were like awkward friends now, nothing like before, Milo could tell, no matter the outcome of her trip, the relationship they had tried to make was over, he only hoped that she came back stronger, for herself, no one else.

Milo caught a couple more fish before heading back in himself. Four large catfish cleaned and filleted the way only a country boy could. Milo started to prep everything to make some lunch and set the rest for that evening. As he sat waiting for his oil to heat up, he pulled out his phone and flipped through the screens, he stopped on the text panel and pulled up Paige, for some reason he couldn't stop thinking about last night. "Hey, hope you didn't get too hungover this morning, let me know if you want to hit the bar again." Milo knew now that this was starting to get odd, he was trying to pay attention to his words to not sound off, but the acknowledgement that he could made him painfully aware that part of what started killing his relationship with Vika, was his own attraction to Paige. He sat back in his chair and sighed, How am I supposed to deal with this now? he wondered as his oil started to heat, he stood and put in some of the fish to fry, nothing like fried food to help a hangover.

Walt loved crowded places, the opening of a new mall was one such occasion that brought out all of the wealthy and eager to come and blow too much money on things they don't need, but something he had learned was that often times, people were far more careless with the way they carried their money when they anticipate pulling it out a lot. Within the first hour of opening, he had already swiped two hundred and fifty in cash and some gift cards he had found in wallets, he didn't need the money too bad but he hated to see an opportunity pass him by. The real goal of the day was a lovely jewelry shop, couples looking at engagement rings and diamond earrings, but all Walt knew was that diamonds were expensive and he had a guy that would buy them.

"Excuse me sir is there something I can help you with?" A posh looking salesman said with obvious disdain, Walt was just dressed in dark clothes, a thin leather jacket over a white hoodie.

Walt took off his sunglasses, now indoors and out of the sun. "Actually I could use a hand, My wife is not doing well, I thought I might surprise her with some new jewelry." The salesman was skeptical but led him to the counter anyway, but not before a small stone fell from Walt's pocket, enchanted with a horrid odor.

The salesman did his best to try and help Walt even as the stench became over whelming and the other customers had already left, soon the salesman excused himself to make a call, only long enough for Walt to swipe a few rings and earrings before ducking out himself. Walt made his way out of the area of the jewelry store, score in hand, slowly enchanting each small piece to be invisible. How many times had he done this now? If most people didn't just think all Drow were criminals anyway, it may have been easier to find which one did the crime.... though, to be fair whichever one you grabbed probably did something.

hot diggity that was quick

Milo heard the faintest noise of splashing from through his headphones, and then what sounded like words, but he couldn't tell. He tugged the line a bit to see if he had anything but there was nothing on it, that was when he noticed the wisp of silver hair in his periphery, Vika stood there on the bank looking flustered to all hell like she hadn't expected him to be outside of his own shop. Milo took out his headphones and set his rod down.

"Sorry, I was listening to music, didn't see you there." Milo shrugged his good shoulder, "Well, I am alive, so that is about the best that I can ask for." He kind of thumbed some of his equipment, "Got shot yesterday, not as fun." Milo chuckled, the pain from the wound wasn't bad so he wasn't to worried. "As much as I love all the small talk and the idea that your dad is a sailor but you know zero fishing terms, I think I should come clean a little." He didn't get up from where he was as he started to talk about everything that had been going on, the guns, the deals with Jackie, the reasons why Paige had been around so much, he told her all of it, with a bit of regret and relief in his face. "I shouldn't have hidden so much, but I thought that it was too deep to let someone know about, I thought I could handle it all, but I couldn't, it's over now though, and I am finally breathing again." Milo stood now, he leaned against the rock he was near and grinned, "Well, I guess this is the part where you should freak out, I really had no right to complain with all I had been hiding." Milo had a smile that was less amusement and much more of acceptance, the acceptance of what he had done and who he is becoming.
