Ericka is a reserved girl who maintains a near constant introspection about everything. She's quiet while thinking, which is often, but once she's finished considering things and decided on a course of action she'll go at it with everything she has. However, while she appears to be on top of things, in truth she often overly criticizes herself and pushes herself too far. She wants to be the best she can, and anything she deems short of that is unacceptable. But, in a tight spot, most find there are few people they'd rather have at their back than Ericka, and even outside of that she's a compassionate individual who treats the people she cares about like her King piece; protected at all costs.
Fatal Flaw: Overthinking. She always stops and considers as many angles as she can before acting, even if time is of the essence and quick action is a necessity.
Habits: Bites her lower lip and plays with her hair ornament when thinking. Will lapse into chess terminology in the midst of an exercise or fight on occasion.

History
Biography
Calling Ericka's birth a surprise would be underselling it by quite a margin. It happened during a time in the life of her father, Ken Yumia, that was spent settling down and moving on from the loss of a relationship with the single brightest, wittiest, and talented woman he'd ever known. They'd mostly gone on small dates, a couple coffee shops, dinner here and there, and one or two movies. Most notably, while there seemed to be plenty of chemistry, the relationship was entirely celibate; Ken never pressured, preferring to let the women take the lead on that front, and this one never seemed to want it.
Which, of course, made it all the more shocking when a basket full of baby appeared on his doorstep with a note from her claiming the child was his. Understandably doubtful and not truthfully prepared for such a thing, Ken sought a DNA test as soon as was feasible. The test only confirmed the impossible; the child was indeed his. Incredulous though he was, Ken had no way of contacting the woman or finding her, and since it was his flesh and blood he resolved to raise the child by himself, whose name was Ericka according to the note. Although his single fatherhood made it hard at times, he saw to it that Erika was never in want of love, and her rearing was a pleasant, if uneventful one. What distinguished her, however, was how sharp her mind became, even at early ages. She got excellent grades, had little trouble with schoolwork at all, and even handled advanced work with ease. But what she really came to love, once she started learning about it in the 5th grade, was the game of kings; Chess.
It started simply enough. Her father took her on a walk through a nearby park, and she chanced to see two older gentlemen sitting at a table playing the game. Something about it's very nature seemed to call out to her, to resonate with something her very soul that she couldn't explain. As soon as she got back home she threw herself into studying the game, from the fundamentals to looking up and watching famous matches online; Kasparov vs Deep Blue became a fast favorite. Eventually she picked up the game herself, and by the time she graduated from Middle School she was already something of a young virtuoso. The strategic elements just came almost effortlessly to her, "As if she were born to command an army," her father liked to say jokingly.
As it turned out, the high school she attended had a nationally ranked Chess Team, and it didn't take her long to try out, earn her way in, and make some friends and acquaintances in the process. One of whom, it turned out, would end up changing her life forever...
How Long Have They Been At Camp Half-Blood:
One day, shortly before the end of her Freshman year, the teacher who sponsored the Chess Team called Ericka into his office for a one on one meeting to add another impossibility to her life. He told her she was a Demigod, a child born between human and deity, and her mother was, in fact, Pallas Athena. She didn't believe him at first, but as though he was oddly experienced at doing this he quickly and summarily connected all the dots for her and ended it by offering her a place at a Summer Camp of sorts called Camp Half-Blood. She agreed, told her dad it was an AP Summer Camp that featured some Chess stuff, and began spending her summers there shortly after being claimed by her mother.
One thing she found quickly, however, as that she paled in comparison to most of her half-siblings in terms of physical prowess. She grasped the concept behind the weapons training she was put through, but in spars she was a very literal pushover. That started to change during her second summer there, when a prophecy came about that mentioned her and she was sent outside the camp to deal with a riddling Sphinx. Strength of arm was almost counterproductive, according to the Oracle, so she went alone. To her own surprise she emerged victorious, and before it vanished the Sphinx left her a small ring. "That your body may be as quick as your mind," the chimera woman said, before departing. Things improved a little after that, and even moreso when she got back to her cabin one night and found another gift on her bed, accompanied by a note saying it was from her mother; a shield that unfolded from a small bracelet. She only attended during the summer, as her scent wasn't that potent and she wanted to continue going to school and playing for the Chess Team, but now that she's graduated she's considering whether or not she wants to transition to year round for a year or two.

Ericka and Aella have never really spoken at length, so there's not much of a relation there. Ericka does, however, have great respect for Aella's dedication to helping teach the newer campers, and her skills with a whip are impressive to say the least.

Ericka and Rebecca both mostly keep to themselves. And since neither one of them has made an attempt to reach out, that means that while Ericka's aware of her, there's not much else to say.

Brynn and Ericka didn't really associate much for a while when Ericka first started attending camp. That changed when Brynn sat down across the chessboard from Ericka... and became the first person to actively pursue rematches. The matches drew the two of them together, and eventually they began to confide in one another as well.

Ericka regards Athanasia rather like a younger sister, even though most of their interaction is limited to sharing a cup of tea. The little lady is still younger than most of the other campers, so Ericka tries to take her under her wing every now and then.

Arthur is nice to be around, and Ericka enjoys speaking with him on occasion.

Kiera is Ericka's other primary sparring partner, as well as someone she converses with from time to time. Despite their parents being at odds with one another, Ericka considers Kiera a friend and ally.

Zoey and Ericka are siblings and Ericka cares for her very much. They typically bond over books, and Ericka is known to spend quite a bit of time in the library.

Emily and Ericka have a nice enough relationship, mostly through Marco. They will occasionally discuss psychology, at least to the extent that Ericka can keep up, and Ericka does occasionally partake of some wine with her too.

Ericka mostly knows Alana from being the two oldest campers in their shared circles and from asking her for advice when it comes to maintaining the firearms in the weapons stash. They don't have a strong relationship, but they're friendly enough.
