Well, since you're all waiting for someone to post, I took the liberty with the opener. :p
Jake just blinked as he looked around.
"Oh-kay, I think I'm going to become a diabetic just by standing here. What kind of a land is this?"
He reached out a felt one of the sugar cane branches, testing its flexibility and strength.
"So, how do we find... erm... what we're looking for?" With the recent attack on the arena, Jake felt it may not be wise to openly mention what it was they're looking for. He looked around in all directions, trying to get a bead on civilization somewhere.

Jake smirked.
"Nah, I don't think it'll be that easy. Still, I'll take you up on that offer sometime."
With that, he gave a friendly salute and walked off to follow the others.

Jake raised an eyebrow at Other-Joshua's... disposition.
"Sheesh, kid, who pissed in your cereal?"
Then again, given that the kid was clearly a Nobody himself, it was obvious he'd be a sourpuss.
Still, he got the story, so no need to ask again. Still, this promised to be an interesting ride, so he had better get ready to go. Besides, it seemed that the tournament was a loss; too much damage had been done to the arena to fix it back up in time. He guessed they were lucky they weren't banned from the area for life.
First things first, though. He turned to Satoko.
"So," he spoke up, "you're Satoko, right? Sorry about the mess. Tournament getting cut short and all. I was going to be your opponent in the first round, but it looks like we're going to have to take a rain check on that one. Maybe we can spar some other time?"

"So yeah, good thing you didn't buy tickets. Or maybe they were worth it, if you enjoy crowd-endangering pyrokinetics. Raised a real storm, that it did.
"So what were you up to?" Jake raised his hands defensively. "Sorry, just trying to make small talk."

After this fight? I dunno, I'll have to sit down and think it through a bit. Hopefully, I'll have one ready by the time the next fight comes around.

"Whatever happened to 'let Serin settle this nicely'?" However, he did give a smirk; he liked this one's spirit. "And let's be honest, given the type of company this guy's keeping, I don't think being nice works here. I mean, his buddy did try to murder your friend, wasn't he?"

Jake continued to hammer away at the adversary when suddenly the axes in his hands vibrated strangely and suddenly yanked him back. Jake struggled to control them again, but had to unsummon them, enabling him to land on the ground. He resummoned his Keyaxes, but by then, he was too far away from Lucus to continue the fight.
"Okay, that was new," Jake muttered, feeling the axes in his hand. He looked at the red-robed mage that had just appeared.
"Great, another clown," he grunted. He should have realized by now that bad guys were like Russian dolls; open one up and another showed up. "You jerks have a union or something?!
"You tell me, buddy. Your twisted comrade attacked us, and tried to kill several people. His former family clearly doesn't want his psychopathic sorry ass back, and his mouth had written a check his ass couldn't cover. So keep your rabid dog on a leash."
