Kail

The atmosphere between the two of them seemed to be brimming with positive energy, Kali’s voice almost have a hint of wonder to it as her mind struggled to keep itself grounded in the reality of the situation ”Well I have been able to make heads turn when I want to, but I’d say I’d have to draw that attention to myself.” She paused for a moment as she let out a soft sigh ”It’s as though there is no true substance to those looks I suppose, it’s one thing to be desirable to someone but another entirely for them to be able to see more than just the surface of you and still find the complete picture compelling” She explained, her mind drifting back to the first interactions she had had with Cecilia and how the Goddess had seen and measured her, the way that piercing gaze of hers had no doubt seen to every corner of Kali and still judged her in such high regards.

As they continued on into the ruins, Kali eyes darted around, drawn to the strange sights of the well kept and defined walls. The outside of these ruins seemed to indicate they had been here eons ago, and the atmosphere felt as though it was choking from an untold passage of time. Yet the walls seemed to show no sign of where, either being of the most skilled level of craft or even imbued with magic. Despite the strangeness of the setting, Kali noted that Cecilia seemed to be certain of the direction she was heading, her confidence radiating out from her form and flowing into Kali.

Stopping at the entrance to the large room, Kali paused just behind and to the side of Cecilia wondering if this was the destination. As the motion of Cecilia removing her daggers caught her eyes, the surprise must have shown on her face as the Goddess offered a gentle smile. Though the shadows stretched far across the room and obscured its contents to Kali, the posture and eyes of Cecilia informed Kali that there was something hidden away in that darkness, something that, unlike the Giants from before, actually had a degree of danger linked to its existence

Kali’s attention was snapped back to her own form as she felt the divine touch of the Goddess grace her form, a subtle brushing of Cecilia’s digits as they ever so lightly danced across the back of Kali’s hand. The warmth of her touch faded as her fingers moved on, but in there placed a strange and energetic tingling remained. Almost like an electric shock, the energy spread from the initial contact point leaving Kali’s body feeling stronger and faster than it had ever felt before. Her senses seemed to heighten as well, her eyes now piercing through the shroud of shadows that covered the room and revealing a motionless statue that stood guard. And yet even with an understanding that she did not fully comprehend, it was as though Kali could see the very essence of magic that flowed in the statue, moving beneath its stone surface in a manner akin to a respitorary system.

As Kali listened to Cecilia explain the situation, she could not help but notice the change of tone in her voice, determination and serious giving it a hard edge that Kali had not yet heard before. She briefly doubted in a construct of stone could really give a Goddess such trouble but as she watched Cecilia darted into the room with inhuman speed, the Golem already reacting to the presence in its chamber with a reaction time that was just as unnatural. ”Wait a minute, I can see this! Kali exclaimed to herself as she found her eyes following Cecilia’s motions. She could tell that Cecilia was moving at speeds that were unlike anything Kali had seen before and yet somehow her eyes and mind were able to track the motions and process it, eyes then flickering to the Golem as saw it raise its own stone limb, the rock clashing with the steel of daggers in a spectacular show of force.

The impact of the strikes scattered the accumulated years of dust, a small shockwave of dirt ebbing out from the clash of power. Kali was almost mesmerized by the sight, her thoughts turning to horror as she watch the Golem seize the opportunity to counter attack as Cecilia was thrown with force strong enough to shatter the stone wall, let alone the bones and organs of an ordinary human. Yet if she was injured, Cecilia showed no signs of it as she responded to the Golems next blow, holding her own against the construct. Still mesmerized by the scene unfolding before her, Cecilia’s authoritative voice cut through Kali’s dazzled thoughts and sprung her into action. ”I know Cecilia can handle such a creation, I need to do my part and not let her down she thought as her attention turned back to where the golem had been.

With the Guardian now occupied elsewhere, the treasure it had been stationed to protect was now visible. Even in the gloom of the room, Kali could ‘see’ the magic that flowed through the bow, its elegant and intricate design hinting to its important nature. Without a second though, Kali sprinted into the room, eyes focused on the prize ahead of her. She trusted Cecilia to handle the golem, and if it should begin to threaten her she was certain Cecilia would let her know

Kali watched nervously as Cecilia seemed to access the two woman before her, weighing up the information they had provided. There was a moment of doubt that spread across Kali’s thoughts as she wondered if perhaps she had been underwhelming in her descriptions of her abilities. Such doubts and fears alleviated themselves as Cecilia treated the two of them to the sight of her smile once more. ’A Rogue, I suppose that is a fitting description she thought with a small grin, the smile spreading as Cecilia confirmed that she had a place for one such as Kali.

It was hours later, the familiar sights of the rolling plains and green forests had given way to the towering stone and brown dirt roads. The cold night wind had faded in strength as the first rays of the sun split over the peaks that lay above them, providing some warmth that curbed the cut of the freezing air. Glancing to her side, and to the right of Cecilia, Kali did feel a small tinge of sadness that Adela had declined the offer to join the Goddess. Though Kali mind was fond of the idea being the only one to accompany the Goddess on this journey, she knew that was a somewhat selfish desire. As she turned back, she glanced at Cecilia as she confidently strode along the path, it was often rumoured in the town that Giants made their home in these peaks and the sights of large patches of disturbed dirt seemed to lead credence to that idea.

Somewhat lost in her own thoughts, Kali barely noticed that Cecilia had stopped, and almost ran into her back. As Cecilia offered the words of confidence, Kali suddenly realized they were approaching a camp of sorts, and that if she needed to offer such assurances then there was possibly danger ahead. Though the tales of terrible giants swum with violent images in her mind, Kali could not find the will to panic, as long as she was in the presence of Cecilia she felt protected.

As the Giants noticed their presence and withdrew their own weapons, Kali stopped as Cecilia continued forward, if there was a chance of a battle occurring Kali did not wish to get in Cecilia’s way or otherwise hamper her. Despite the intimidating size and nature of the giants the Goddess was unphased by their demands, treating them as though there were but an unpleasant nuisance. Her voice rung strongly through the air, her words carrying a weight of divine authority and force of command, almost daring the giants to challenge her demand. Prideful and protective of their own territory, the giants met the challenge in what Kali believed would be an incredible battle.

But to her surprise, Cecilia easily held the first Giant’s strike as though it had no force behind it, her entire form remaining still as the dirt and ground cracked underneath her from absorbing such a heavy blow ”Unbelieveable” Kali uttered in Amazement as with a simple flick of the Goddess’s dagger hand sent the massive creature tumbling backwards against its own will, the Giants seeming to be even more surprised than Kali at the situation. Giving them a second chance, the Giants were quick to take it, their thundering footsteps quickly fading into the distance and leaving Kali and Cecilia to silence save for the crackling of the now abandoned fire.

Walking back up to Cecilia as she replaced her daggers, Kali replied to her statement “And I never had a doubt that you would keep your word” Kali spoke as a smile of her own matched Cecilia’s. As they walked forward and the purpose of this trip was explained Kali could not help but exclaim ”We’re seeking a Legendary bow for me?! Well...I suppose then this is almost a gift of sorts from you then?” Kali replied with a soft giggle at the thought. In some ways this whole situation seemed almost unreal, and the idea of a Goddess gifting her a bow of legends seemed to only add to that factor. Looking at Cecilia she could feel a tinge of heat spread across her cheeks as she replied ”And I guess that does fit the story of a hero, to be both chosen and then gifted a legendary weapon by a beautiful goddess herself.”. Despite the cool air that the mountain currents drove down the mountain path, Kali found herself filled with a strange warmth. Perhaps it was just an effect of being within the Presence of Cecilia but, Kali suspected there may have been more to it than that
Name: Kali Elynore

Race: Human

Age: 22

Appearance: Only a fraction shorter than the average woman Kali often wears very simple clothing, betraying the nature of her commoner background. From working in the fields her once pale skin now bears a moderate tan, and though she had taken pains to care of it its once smooth texture is now marred with rough patches.

Her face is framed by her brown hair, carrying a tinge of red through its colour that is most noticeable in the direct light of the sun. Her eyes are a type of Hazel, with a stronger amount of green than brown, but where one would expect to see the spark of youth in her eyes it instead seems to be a dull colour betraying her innerself. Finally her face is an attractive degree of plump, enough to hide any strong definitions of her bones but not enough to detract from her overall appearance.

While her clothing is somewhat simple and suited for travelling or hard work, it still has some minor degrees of embellishments that help to flatter Kali’s form. That combined with a number of assorted trinkets that she has received as gifts over the years help to attract some attention to her, though often times it will simply remain at a long drawn-out glance

Personality: Kali is a hardened individual from a difficult life but she hides this truth behind a false personality. On first appearances she appears shy and a somewhat indecisive individual having found these traits and an air of innocence causes those she interacts with to underestimate her or even outright ignore her entirely. Though this fake personality is somewhat robust for first meetings, it lacks depth that becomes apparent over prolonged encounters

Her true personality is that of a survivor, and this belays the manipulate and cunning individual she acts as. She had learnt the world is a harsh place and understands the world is full of pain and loss. Taking an enjoyment in manipulating and fooling others, she has no qualms if her plans results in others being hurt. However she is rather sheltered from death in her life, so the concept of killing or dealing with someone being killed is still hard for her to swallow.

Driven and confident in her own abilities, when she makes a decision she will see it through, choosing to be either subtle or direct in her approach as needed by the situation. Despite the harsh outlook that life has left her with, she still has dreams of a fairytale ending which can often times leave her to being dragged upon romantic strings despite the risk they can carry
@13Org Well I posted, not sure if you can use my reply though
Sonya

A new voice reached Sonya ears accompanied with a blur of motion that flickered at the edge of her peripherals. At first Sonya had assumed its words were directed at another group of militia but the last statement carried itself over the thundering sound of the approaching Orcs, betraying its intended direction. Though the Orcs were drawing close, Sonya risked a glance over to the side, spotting Aimée as she danced in a rather spectacular fashion. Sonya paused, stunned for a moment, ’Dancing...On a battlefield? What on earth is she thinking?! her mind shouted in confusion, before an Orcish Warcry drew her attention back to the front-lines as Silas engaged the Orcs. Quickly regaining her focus, she resumed her weaving of the air, but as she did so, her mind drifted back to the sight of Aimée dance, the lively motions of her actions dancing through her mind in a wave of positive energy

A number of questions bubbled at the edge of Sonya’s mind but she dismissed them ’She seems sure of her action and does not appear treacherous, It’s best to just assume it’s a positive effect for now and question later’, needing to focus all of her attention on aiding Silas as the Orcs weapons swung one after the other, each time having to cleave through the wind that pushed against their weapons, slowing them and diverting them off course just enough for Silas to easily maintain his defense. As Sonya continued to weave the air though, visions of the dancer continued to settle across her vision, the motions of the illusionary dance aligning with each gust of tempest air she conjured, causing Sonya to settle into a solid rhythm that matched the flow of the battle.

Subconsciously, Sonya had started to hum a little tune, the dread and fear of being on the field of battle seeming to have been driven away by a strange flood of warm energy. Both Odessa and Silas seemed to be moving more confidently and quicker as well, the three of them functioning as a well-trained group despite being driven together by circumstance. Whether it was an effect of the dance or some natural alignment between the group was unknown to Sonya for now, but as she settled into the ebb and flow of battle, she began to cast a stronger spell. The winds around Silas and Odessa began to intensify as an ice cold draft was summoned, the winds whipping at the Orcs each time they dared to strike against either of Sonya’s allies. Each time the Orcs were lashed by the freezing air, small tendrils of frost clung to their form, marking the point of impact. Individually they were insignificant but as the frost accumulated the Orc’s movements began to slow and become more stiff as they now had to fight both air and frost
Sonya

With the group focusing on the remaining Orc, they were quickly able to overwhelm the lone beast. At it struck out at Luke once more, Sonya the guided the tempest to bubble around Luke’s shield, the pocket of air easily cushioning the blow and leaving Luke in-balance as he struck out at the Orc in a deadly strike that unfortunately left him over-extended. Despite the loss of a wound, the Orc was still able to lash out in a death grip. Even as Sonya guided the wind to push against the reaching hand, the beast’s determination for death seemed greater. ’No! I can’t stop it in time!’ her mind cried out as she watched the beast grasp Luke’s throat, unable to recover in time from his earlier strike.

For a moment, she half expected to see the beast’s fingers sink into the flesh and tear away at the poor boy’s throat, the image buzzing at the edge of her mind and threatening her concentration. Thankfully for all involved, Silas had been ready to move in and swifted ‘disarmed’ the Orc before he could complete its attack allowing Luke to follow up with the finishing blow. As the Orc’s lifeless form fell to the ground to join its kin, the images faded from Sonya’s mind for the moment and the wild winds quieted for now, allowing the silence to resume its control of the battle field. Letting her mind relax for a moment, Sonya took in the surrounding scene in more detail, noting as Silas and the other groups re-arranged their formations. Turning her gaze to the two boys, she could see Jowen was still shaken by the events that had unfolded before them, understanding why Silas would send both of them back even if they could use more help in the coming fights.

Off in the distance, motion caught Sonya’s attention as the Orc’s seemed to be preparing themselves for the next skirmish as well. Larger and heavily armored orcs pushed their way past the teeming mass of the Orc front-line and began their trek across the empty plain towards their opponents. ’Even apart from the armor, these Orcs aren’t like the first wave. There’s no wild charging and breaking formation. These ones must have quite a bit of experience’ Sonya concluded, a noticeable air of tension spreading through the militia as others must have reached the same conclusion. Even though the situation was starting to seem grim, as Silas spoke and delivered his orders it was with the same calm and collected tone he had been using all morning.

Sonya nodded in response ”I can do that, but I must emphasis the winds work best at amplifying actions you already take. They can turn an opponent’s blade and slow their strikes but these creature’s strength makes it hard to stop entirely. As long as you take the actions to deflect and dodge their strikes, I will make sure you succeed and they fail” she explained, her mind flashing back to how close to harm both Luke and Jowen had come when their movements had stop. Her gaze drifted over to Odessa for a moment, before focusing back on the approach Orcs as she added to herself ’And if necessary, since there are only two people I need to worry about, I can more easily direct some of my other magic to their aid if need-be’ as the wind once again to pick up, its soft howl mingling with the clanking metal of their opponents
Week is....going. I have a 9 Hour Meeting tomorrow that I've been spending all week preparing for. Plan to get my post up sometime tonight (so next few hours).

@Lyla Wow, congrats to your wife! Hopefully it won't be too hot at the graduation (or it will be in an air conditioned place)
I'll try to have my post up in the next 24 Hours, just got a work deadline that I need to get on top of
@13Org Well you could argue it either way, she could have been born with the talent for magic but since she's never studied/been trained its only at the most basic level of ability, and she maybe even weaves her spells without even realizing the full implication of the casting? I mean if you don't want her to have magic she doesn't have to, but there can still be compelling reasons for her to have it without the studying/training
