Period 4, Armory Class Ineko quickly jogged to the Armory class. That shower took longer than expected. Damn the hot water for feeling so comfortable. He thought to himself. His armor was still wet from the quick cleaning he gave it. He opened the door to the Armory class quietly and the first thing he noticed was the classroom itself. It was like stepping into the iron amazon forest, and then he felt the gaze of something powerful. Ineko glanced to it, and found the metal beast parked inside of the classroom, a tank. Like an apex predator it seemed to watch his every move, and Damascus was certainly not completely comfortable either. Shaking it off, he noticed that there were a couple of conversations going, he used this background noise to, surprisingly stealthily, find a seat. Finding that seat next to Indigo, who was sitting next to Ivan. Right after, Ivan stood up and introduced himself. Then Indigo introduced himself. Not wanting to break the stride, Ineko stood up. "I'm... Ineko Irandi. I like to do robotics and armor." The armored student said somewhat awkwardly, his robot-esque voice was a little garbled due to the moisture of the shower he took earlier. He stood there for a second before slowly sitting back down. Once he did, he leaned in towards Indigo and whispered, "I've missed something haven't I?" He glanced back to the tank again, just to make sure it hadn't moved.
Shiiit, what should I post? Are we all in armory class?
I'm writing a post to get my character in the Armory class right now. He's sort of late to the class.
Man, we're kind of leaving Tearstone and XNoBrainX in the dust. I kinda feel bad since Tear is the SIII Team Leader.
<Snipped quote> I feel like it would be too difficult, why use two when we can use just one. Another reason for example, Diamond at the very least has a very large sum of lien from past criminal activities, it's be a bit unfair. I'd think of it that the school itself would only allow you to get a weapon upgrade after reaching certain limit of credits. Lore wise, unless something drastic happens to your character that would change them forever, anything but a light semblance upgrade is pretty much a no go, and even that should be something you work the better part of the semester for. And Lug, as far as buying subplots goes... Ain't that a bit too limiting? We have couple dozen people, not couple hundred, and most of thsoe are grouped into packages of 4 for any of the given subplots...
Ah, right. I hadn't thought about everyone's activities prior to the academy. And yeah, there were no Semblance changes in the show, so there probably shouldn't be any major changes here. As for the weapon upgrade thing after a certain amount of credits, it feels like the academy is holding students back. I'm not sure if Beacon is the type of place to be doing that.
Since it looks like we're going with the,
Option B: Winning contests/challenges and beating missions award Credits, which can be used in a shop system to buy Armory upgrades, Ability upgrades, and subplots. TENTATIVE: 4 for Armory, 6 for Ability, 10 for subplot Suggestion: Nerf mission credits to half or double credits needed with every purchase :P
I have a couple of thoughts. Mission rewards are in Credits and Lien (RWBY's Currency?), so why don't we use both of those currencies? Keep in mind these are just my thoughts on the subject. GM has the final word on the stuff. Armory/Tech/Weapon upgrades/items would use Lien, lore wise, the Lien would cover the costs of materials of said upgrade/item. Small upgrades would be like, a couple thousand maybe, since the mission rewards are in the 1,000 - 4,000 range already. Medium upgrades would be somewhere around 10,000 and maybe large upgrades would be 20,000. Small upgrades being like, a new attachment to an existing weapon, or a small piece of gear like a grappling hook. Medium upgrades being an actual upgrade of said items, like a direct upgrade in killing power or a new function(?) Heavy upgrades would be a complete overhaul of an existing thing, or maybe a completely new weapon. We also have to keep in mind our own characters' abilities, concerning these Armory/Tech/Weapon upgrades. My character, Ineko, is pretty darn good at electronics, armor, etc, but he probably can't make a good sword to save his life. If he wanted to make a sword, it might be more expensive than someone else's attempt, who is good at making swords. --- Since 'credits' are a reward too, at first I thought these were like college credits, but apparently not(?), these could be used to purchase Semblance/Ability upgrades. As well as subplots, as said in the quote/general Gdoc. I'm not sure how to apply credits to ability upgrades. We could use the Lien thing, outlined above, with the Light, Medium, and Heavy upgrades, each one being more expensive than the last. Mission rewards so far are in the 1 to 5 Credit rewards. It seems like we've all followed a similar system, each grade up is adding a credit. D - 1 CR C - 2 CR B - 3 CR A - 4 CR S - 5 CR SS - 6 CR Which is cool because it's at least consistent. Maybe we can price it accordingly? Light Ability/Semblance Upgrade - 5 to 6 CR Medium Ability/Semblance Upgrade - 10 to 12 CR Heavy Ability/Semblance Upgrade - 20 to 24 CR These are so heavily priced because they're Ability/Semblance upgrades, stuff that borders the supernatural, I guess. Upgrades shouldn't come all that often. Then again, I'm not exactly sure. We should also keep higher ranked missions no more than the lower ranking missions, so that we don't power level speed run MLG pro our way through several SS missions and get that Heavy Upgrade early. As for the subplot thing, I honestly have no idea how to price it, maybe we don't. Since paying CR for a subplot would mean giving up a potential upgrade to your Semblance. Some people might not want to give up that upgrade. As for exact prices, I dunno. Maybe PM the upgrade in question to Lugu the GM, or a Co-GM, and they'll discuss it and come up with an exact price.
Ineko's 6 drones could run patrol routes around our area and we could just relax with pizza or something. EDIT: Until something bad happens.
In other news, Team SIII, would you guys like to do a mission? Because I'd like the team to do "Patrol" since that'd give the team time to interact and (hopefully) fight as a full team.
Yeah, I'm cool with the patrol mission.
Maybe interested.
Iza held his newly made clay bottle and played with it restlessly, walking down the streets of the city. It was too crowded here, he preferred smaller towns, or villages, but with the size of this place came the variety of resources that he needed, as well as the rumors of new dungeons to go hunt for and go down. Soon, he came to a less populated portion of the city, and stepped inside of a small alchemy shop. "Ah, Izaris! It is a wonder that you are not dead yet!" The stout dwarven shopkeeper greeted, like an old friend had just come to visit. The shopkeeper walked over to the masked Ranger and held out his hand. "Damo." Iza replied with a smile on his face, grasping the hand and holding it tightly. "The fact of my living is a wonder to me as well." He said jokingly. "What is it this time, more oil for your bottle?" Damo asked, seeing the clay bottle in Iza's offhand. "Aye. On my travels to the southern islands though, I discovered something peculiar." Iza said, "Do you know of yellow phosphorus?" As Damo fetched the black oil, "A very dangerous substance. I don't carry any here in my shop. It is said that its anger is calmed when placed in a pool of water." Iza nodded thoughtfully, taking the oil and filling his clay bottle with it. "Could you get me some, the next time I come back? I wish to run some experiments." He closed the clay bottle and hooked it onto his belt. While Damo was in thought, Iza placed the amount due on the counter. They were interrupted by a loud bell, which startled Iza. He looked to Damo in confusion and saw the blood drain from the face of the dwarf. "Izaris, head to the Church, there is an emergency and they may need someone of your skill!" The dwarf yelled over the bells. Iza never knew the dwarf to be one to ask someone of something. After a second, Iza nodded and left the shop. He headed towards the Church, finding himself following a young Paladin closely who had heard the bells as well. Several thoughts went through Iza's head, was there an attack? Perhaps some great evil threatened this city. Iza hoped that his skills would be up to the test, and that the coin would be decent.
