Not my own words, but: "Enjoy memes and have a good time online, but develop a solid sense of self-worth that is rooted in a reality that doesn't disappear when the battery charge is empty."

This is getting out of hand; people on coastlines should be able to have navies if they desire; if not, they don't have to. Nobody's forcing "extra work" on anyone.

If the RP has no mechanic system, and we're just writing out battles as narratives, in a story format, then navies are no big deal. You just write them in. Just because they aren't "planned for" doesn't mean anything is actually stopping them from being in the RP. We're writing a story, not playing a war game with clearly-defined pieces. Dwarves have gyrocopters; now, not everyone "plans for" aerial combat, but the opportunity is there.

I joined for a RP with Warhammer-inspired themes and military focus, not Warhammer Fantasy Battles with text replacing miniatures. Why restrict ourselves to the limitations of a physical game when we have the freedom as writers to add much more with words?
My issue with the Golden Horde is the fact that it is mixed races lead by notOrks. You are going to have to give me a very damn well impressive backstory and reason as to why anyone would want to be remotely near notOrks much less fight with them. It goes without saying that in this setting Dwarves aren't too keen on Orruks and their related cousins, Elves would be too arrogant or simply don't trust them and most humans would just be to afraid to be near them when the notOrks are hungry and have a weapon in hand. Also, notOrks aren't exactly known for excellent gunsmithing skills for anything other than a giant crude shotgun in my mind.

In short, this idea has about a 90% of just not being allowed with the remaining 10% open in the case you do want to try and write something impressive up to change my mind.

Damn, flushing the creative juices down the toilet.
@RisenDeadAre Yore and Rhune on friendly terms, or do they still skirmish from time to time?
Who cares when you own all the colors?

Anyone want to work on some kind of northwest subplot? I'd like to post soon, but my brain's in a bit of a rut.

The thing is is that I never actually really allowed naval combat and I'm also fairly certain most people don't want to go back to the NSs and add in a whole bunch of ship.

Basically as it stands right now, there is no such thing as naval combat at least not in terms of IC combat posts.

Eh, I have a bit of a problem with that; sure, we can pretend nobody's heard of a warship before, but it would also be incredibly unrealistic to write it out entirely. It might not be the focus, but it doesn't have to get wiped to nonexistence. If a war hinges on nation X sending an army to nation Y, and the best way is to use ships, what then? Is the enemy supposed to sit back on its hands and watch them sail in, saying "Oh well, too bad we never thought of putting guns and soldiers on ships before!"

My problem is that we're roleplaying in a narrative, text-based format, and trying to constrain it to a Total War-esque game doesn't work well. Yes, we can describe different units and give rough outlines of spells, but in a loose narrative - much like real life - these things are arbitrary and can vary. A video game has a block of identical spearmen, because it is designed with absolutes in mind, yet a real unit might be short a few spears, or have some swordsmen from a weakened detatchment, and they could all have varying degrees of armor.

In short, trying to impose hard, videogame-style absolutes contradicts with a format that is open-ended and revolves around narrative.

Yay!

I will say though, not having a naval presence isn't a disadvantage since as of right now we're only focused on land wars.

That could change, if somebody on the coast wants to indulge in some naval dickery.
@AristoGentle poke to remind you that you forgot about the red-green pros and cons list ^^

Fixed!
@Supreme Commander hasn't been on in five days... I hope I don't loose a neighbor before we begin. There's a bit I wanted to discuss with him.

@RisenDead
Would you prefer your gryphon riders stay unique to Rhune?
