Not my own words, but: "Enjoy memes and have a good time online, but develop a solid sense of self-worth that is rooted in a reality that doesn't disappear when the battery charge is empty."

I think I've narrowed it down to either Airgiallne or Anqallyt. Both seem like interesting kingdoms to play.

Heddwyn was late! He caught the forms of several figures - hired men like himself, probably - entering the ruined tower. Who else could they be, if they willingly came here? Of the few commoners he'd spoken to, all showed traces of fear at his mention of the place, and plenty tried changing the subject. It seemed nobody wanted anything to do with it, and that gave the king the desperation he needed to start hiring out foreigners. Heddwyn started towards the tower, picking up his pace. He didn't fancy the idea of getting left behind in a place with such dark reputation.

He reached the entrance after several moments and peeked his head around the corner of the portal. The fellows from earlier were inside, or rather, fellows and a lady. More surprising was the tiger at their side, a rare lord of faraway jungles.
Cautiously, as not to make an enemy of the creature - although he suspected it had sensed him long ago - Heddwyn ducked inside. One of the three was already prepping for danger, arrow notched and ready to be loosed at a moment's notice.
That gave Heddwyn pause, so he readied his own arms, then said in a harsh whisper, "Are you here on behalf of the king as well?"

He didn't address any of them in particular, but expected the man with the bow to answer first. He seemed like he had a handle on things. In any case, upon seeing Pelor's visage on his tabard, the'd know his purpose.
@ELGainsborough

Sure thing; would it be easier on everyone if we assumed I was with the group, or shall I have my character arrive late and bump into them?
@Claw2k11Based on the history you provided, I think I'm inclined towards Sylvanyr, but I won't set it in stone just yet. I'll wait to make a final decision.
@ELGainsboroughI've added my sheet to the CS tab!

Gosh, I've been so indecisive.

Seeing as 5e did away with alignment restrictions, would anyone object to an evil paladin? Not an orphanage-burning, man-eating evil, but a victory-at-any-cost, ends>means evil. He could care about his mission, even the good of the party, but be a ruthless scourge to anyone he perceives as an enemy.
He'd probably be a thrall of Beshaba or Shar; there's a sisterhood dedicated to Shar in Hulburg.
Heddwyn Price

Running this by you before I write up some background and put it in the CS section, EL. I'm assuming we're sticking with the gods out of the PHB?
I'm always game for a classic, high fantasy romp!
